Summary: Great player, great price
Review: This is the best dvd player for the price, it is cheap and it has many great features including it supports dts sound. The only problem i had was that it would not play an audio cdr i created.

Summary: I am very pleased with the quality of the machine.
Review: I am very pleased with the Dual disc system. I makes it easy to switch between movies, especially if you are entertaining and you want to see the previews of a couple of movies. One regret. I already own a reciever that has the AC3 processor built in and prabably could have saved money and bought the 2109 instead. It does pratically everything I need it to do for less money. Other than that it is a high quality machine without the real high price tag.

Summary: Audio output
Review: I bought this DVD player for the purpose of video playback, but it has also replaced my cd player. The soundstaging and detail level of the sound is very good, as well as the timbre reproduction. The HDCD availability helps this player to sound better than most DVD players. The biggest drawback in the audio is the bass. In the lower frequencies, the bass almost disappears. My cd player was a Marantz cd63, and this DVD player is better in almost all respects, except for the bass performance.

Summary: Bought 5 units for my business
Review: I own a specialty DVD shopping site.. like those Multiple-angle DVD, Interactive DVD... We ship worldwide so we have to test every single DVD from defect before we ship them. This model work out perfect. We can load and changing disc while playing/testing a second disc. It vitually triple our productivity. Another greate player from Toshiba. Good Job.

Summary: Worth the Wait
Review: As a Laserdisc owner, I've been patiently waiting for DVD's to mature in cost effectiveness and features, and recently took the plunge with the SD-3109. I'm impressed with the flexibility of the audio system. It works with my present Dolby Surround Sound receiver, and will also work when I upgrade to 5.1 surround next year. After looking at dozens of other DVD players, the Toshiba won for me with the best balance of features at the lowest price.

Summary: Best DVD Player - I did my research!
Review: Great product! I will never go back to VHS. This unit has the AC3 5.1 Digital Sound Decoder built right in, in case your stereo does not have the decoder built in it.

Summary: Great value -- Love this DVD Player
Review: I was looking at a bunch of different DVD players and the Toshiba 3109 came out on top. The features are great and the price is unbeatable -- especially for a player with built-in Dolby Digital.

If your receiver already has Dolby Digital built in (make sure it has the Dolby Digital DECODER -- some are "Dolby Digital Ready" which often means that they have RCA plugs and speaker jacks for 5 speakers) -- go with the 2109 -- it is the same thing, sans the Dolby Digital decoder.

Summary: Great Player
Review: Above was mentioned that CDRs didn't seem to work in 3109. Apparently this DVD player has a single optical pickup, and can only focus on the blue dye disks.

Summary: Outstanding audio & video in a very affordable DVD player
Review: The audio and video output on this player are among the best I've yet seen. It is, however, very slow loading and the remote operates only the DVD player. The quality of the picture from the S-Video jack is truly exceptional and the ability to adjust sub-woofer limiting in the audio and black level in the video make this an extraordinary value. A highly recommended player for either a first machine or if you are upgrading from a first generation DVD player.
