Rating: Summary: AVOID at all cost Review: I've tried two of these so call DVD players and both failed misserably. In one the movie skips every other second and in the other the movie completly freezes every 10 minutes. You have a better chance of buying a winning lottery ticket than in finding one of these players that works. While I'm dissapointed that amazon sells this product, I at least must give them credit for taking care of my complaint and paying for all the shipping costs.
Rating: Summary: Oh dear, oh dear. Review: Last year I purchased a Daewoo DVD player for about 30 bucks at my local Sam's Club (mainly due to its ability to play international DVDs at such a low price).
I recently needed another cheapo player for my bedroom (my home theatre system seems to wake up my 2 year old). I figured after the surprising value I got with the Daewoo that maybe these cheap players were not actually that bad...not so.
The actual phsysical appearance of the player is just what I would expect for something so cheap, but once I noticed the series of "lamps" on the front of the machine (yes, that *is* how they are labelled) I had a sick feeling. The pigeon english instructions and labels on the machine just added to the feeling of worry.
Upon loading a disc, the drive makes a noise like a cross between a jet turbine engine and a washing machine on high spin. This seems to be mostly at start-up....sometimes it disappears only to re-appear at random throughout the movie.
The experience is very like going to the movie theatre only to have the guy sitting next to you pull out an electric shaver and commence grooming himself.
The burning question I have is...who *is* Norcent??? I have a mental picture of some guy armed with a soldering iron running to Radioshack to pick up parts to build these substandard machines.
I defy anyone from that company to reply and justify the poorly engineered products they are tainting the marketplace with.
Oh, in case you hadn't noticed all the glowing reviews here....do not buy this product. There are plenty of alternatives for the same money out there of higher quality.
Rating: Summary: AWFUL ALWAYS SAYS NO DISK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Like many of you others i have many problems with this dvd player... I got it for christmas and it worked wonderfully for about two months after that i would stop in the middle of the movie and sometimes i would have to restart the movie, now all it does is says no disk... the worst part is this christmas i got another dvd player but took it back cause i thought this one only had to be cleaned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i give this player two thumbs WAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY down!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Skipping constantly, what a frustration Review: Like most others, here I purchased this for Christmas and thought the price was great....what a dissapointment! It never even played the first CD right!!! Like another reviewer stated, when I purchased it in Decemeber it had great reviews...the best in its price range. Mine is boxed up to be sent back!! We tried for days and this never played a DVD properly. Ours did crack and pop too but that just required adjusting the volume of the tv to the dvd...we have had the same problems with video games. At any rate...a waste of money!
Rating: Summary: Not too good Review: Player freezes while playing DVD. It also vibrates when playing and emits an audible noise. Seemed like a good deal, but... Now the hassle and expense to return to amazon or to Norcent.
Rating: Summary: Compact, easy to use and a great picture..... Review: Progressive Scan at a great price....
Rating: Summary: THIS THING SUX Review: Purchased one based on good price and good reviews. It arrived and the door didn't open. Amazon replaced it. The replacement's door opens, but DVDs stutter. All commercialy produced. Support calls and emails to Norcent go un-answered. I am returning this and buying a real brand. Lesson learned.
Rating: Summary: The Real Rating is Zero Stars - Junk, Junk, Junk! Review: See my earlier review for my experience with the first unit. The replacement arrived yesterday. I watched the first movie tonight, and the same defect: frames freeze intermittently. What are the odds of this? Apparently pretty high according to other reviews. No more time to waste with replacements. I just want a refund and will NEVER purchase anything with the Norcent name on it again.
Rating: Summary: Skipping out the door Review: Skipped from the first DVD to the last a week later when I boxed it up. Skipped twice on the first DVD I watched, and after that every few minutes. You can hit FF then Play to move the DVD forward, but why bother? It was a gift; I'll return it for credit and get a better player.
Rating: Summary: Wrong web description! Review: The DVD player DP315 is not Europe compatible as advertised by Amazon. Pay attention! The instructions in the package clearly say that it works only with a 120V/60Hz power supply and in the NTSC color system.
