Summary: So far so good
Review: I got this unit about months ago even before reading other peoples opinion. When I found out that some people had a "noise problem" with DVD or VCR I get scared and decide put it in a test. I continuously run DVD for four hours but only can hear a noise from it when volume was near to minimal and if you standing relatively close to the unit. I usually prefer SONY over other companies. But I think that DVD players from SONY overpriced. That is why I got Samsung M101 DVD player more than year ago and was very pleasant with it. Unfortunately M101 can't play CD or DVD-R. Also, I want to replace my six year or SONY VCR. This is the reason why I decided to buy this combo unit. Since I got it I'm using DVD or VCR two/three times per week and so far so good.
Conclusion. Base on my personal experience I'm really highly recommend this model because it well build and probably best in 150-200$ price range. . The only problem I have to understand that you need to set up unit trough RF output first and then activate component output. That was confusing.
It's looks like people falls into two category with this model who had no problem and like it and who run in to the problem right from the beginning and hate it. Hopefully I belong to the first category (But who knows.

P.S. Recently I got a DVD+RW drive for my desktop and burn several homemade DVD. This unit perfectly plays DVD+R as well as DVD+RW.

Summary: Great unit for small spaces
Review: This unit is for those of you who live in such small places, i.e bedroom, small apt., etc. I have this unit and I'm not disappointed, I have such a small space, if I was to get a seperate DVD player, I'd have no room to move around, my bedroom is so narrow that this device comes in handy. That's why I give it 5 stars. Nice job Samsung!

Summary: What a lemon !
Review: I got this unit because Consumer Reports rated it highly and I thought a combo unit would suit me because I rarely have time to watch movies. Either they were totally wrong or I got a lemon. I played 3 movies and the VCR ate all 3 ! I promptly took this piece of junk back. I did not even bother to test the DVD.

Summary: Smooth and Unfailing Performer
Review: This DVD/VCR Combination player and recorder from SAMSUNG is good. In the SP mode it records and plays back very well. EP recording is acceptable as long as you play back your recordings on this unit. The front load VCR accepts and ejects the tape with frictionless accuracy. The on-screen display indicates tracking, speed, elapsed time and remaining time. I also really liked the high-speed Fast Forward and Rewind operation. Programming the unit for time-date recordings is pretty basic and similar to SONY and RCA units. You must navigate the controls just a little differently. It will also play back S-VHS recordings, which is a very good feature especially for a combo unit. DVD play and menu operations are pretty much the same as most other units. It is gratifying that you can get both the VCR and DVD signal through the RF output. If you have an old TV with no video line inputs there is no longer a need to purchase a separate RF Modulator to receive the DVD signal. That's a really nice feature. It is interesting to note that this unit is very similar in look and performance to SONY's combo DVD/VCR player. However, SAMSUNG's hand remote is a big improvement over SONY's which is awkward to use. SONY's remote is just too small. SAMSUNG's hand remote fits in your hand nicely. Overall this is an excellently designed unit both esthetically and functionally. Most importantly it performs beautifully. Both DVD and VCR images look great.

Summary: Great Product
Review: Bought the Samsung DVD-V2000/VCR Combo 3 months ago as a replacement for my old reliable VCR and I could not be happier. I love recording TV shows and sports and the picture quality of the recorded programs is just incredible. Have also had no problems with the DVD playback. I usually only buy Sony and Panasonic electronics so I was a little wary buying a Samsung for the first time. But I gotta say, based on my experiance with this product, I will have no problem buying Samsug in the future.

Summary: I think it's great !!!!
Review: Not sure why others had problems, I think it's great. Consumer Reports just rated it number 1 in it's category. I found it easy to set up and use. No weird sounds, great picture quality.

Summary: Pure Junk
Review: Well, I bought it. Shame on me, because I read the problems with it here and on epinions as well. Good thing I tested it right when I got it, and didn't just wait to give it to my parents for Christmas. I exchanged it to make sure that it wasn't just a random thing, but the second unit was [bad] as well

Problems w/DVD:
Extremely Loud. Starts off like a whine, then intermittenly switches to a clicking sound. It doesn't affect the sound or picture, but it sounds like a computer just humming and clicking away in the background.

Problems w/VCR:
Same thing, just an overly annoying loud device. The fast forward [is loud] as well.

Unless your hard of hearing, stay away from this product! I reccomend it to nobody! I hope someone really believes me, it will save them time and frustration.

Summary: No problems
Review: In response to several other reviews. I did return a Hitachi unit that did have excessive noise. I don't notice any excessive noise in this unit. I also have a Phillips DVD recorder that records DVD+RW and DVD+R and they play fine in this unit. So far so good

Summary: Beware - Loud Noise playing video
Review: I bought and returned two of these players within 1 day. It was very easy to set up and fit in the space I had but the noise the video player put out while viewing video's was not acceptable. I'm not talking about the sound all video player make, with the running of gears, I'm talking about a loud buzzing noise that is so distracting you can not enjoy the video. Thinking we just bought a "bad" player we returned it and brought home another, SAME THING - the noise is so loud you can not enjoy what your watching. I would NOT recommend this to anyone (I exchanged it for a Sony this time)

Summary: Major problems with this product
Review: I have a love-hate relationship with this product. I love the features and the style, but the quality of the DVD leaves a lot to be desired. The image stalls, freezes or flutters when playing a DVD. Very annoying and unwatchable. So figuring it was a defective unit I returned it and got another. Same problem. I tried connecting it through S-Video cable instead of RCA Cables. Same problem. Returned the unit, and after a lot of soul searching bought the same unit for the third time...After all, they couldn't all be bad. WRONG. Another bad unit. It's going back today, and I'll be buying another brand.
