Summary: I have to corroborate the C:13:00:00 complaint
Review: I normally love SONY products, but I too have suffered with a
2-year old SONY dvd player which now fails to be able to read
DVD's, instead giving the dreaded C:13:00:00 failure, whatever
this means (I interpreted it to mean unable to read TOContents,
so I was forever cleaning my disks hoping it was just dust!).
I have never been unhappy with SONY elecronics before, but I
certainly am now. Stay with SONY on other stuff, but consider
a different brand for DVD technology.

Summary: Sony DVD-NS325S DVD Player - An excellent buy!
Review: I purchased this particular Sony DVD player approximately a year ago as an accoutrement to the bedroom system, not requiring a DVD player that was too high speed and high cost and in that function, this outstanding Sony DVD player has worked perfectly! There is literally nothing that I've experienced with this player that could be classified as a detractor to its overall quality for its price range.

As for features, the Sony NS325S has all the bells and whistles that one could want for a player in its respective price range, making it an excellent buy. It sets up quite easily (options include digital out, line out, S-Video & component video out); the quality of the image and the sound in playback mode is exceptional; plays CD's, DVD's and MP3, has several search modes; the display function possesses several different displays; several different preset sound settings; subtitles are easily turned on & off; several different picture modes; parental controls and an easy to follow settings menu.

In the year or so that I've used this DVD player in conjunction with a Sony VCR and a Sony television set, I've experienced nothing but outstanding performance from this DVD player. Based on the performance of this wonderful DVD player and the Sony DVD player I purchased a few years ago that is still working flawlessly, I highly recommend this model or any other model from Sony and in the future, should I require another DVD player, Sony is the "only" brand that I'd even consider. For the price range, you'd be hard pressed to find a better DVD player!

Summary: Not Great for CDs
Review: I purchased this to replace my 10-year old Sony CD player. I also wanted it for DVDs, for which I have no complaints. However, as a CD/MP3 player, I wished the next model up would have been available at the time. The price is great, but the unit missing many of the features I was hoping for (program tracks, random play, auto-fade) that make it a compelling option for CDs and MP3 discs.

Review: I received this Sony DVD player as a Christmas present
and within 2 weeks it began giving me an error message
that said "Cannot Play Disc". I tried several brand new
DVDs and even went out and bought a DVD lens cleaner kit
all to no avail.

Now it will only play CDs but no DVDs.
I'm stuck because I didn't save my receipt
and the cost of repair is as much as a new DVD player.

After doing research on the internet I found that SONY
has a history with these types of problems.

Stay away from this DVD player!

Summary: Digital at last!
Review: I was given this DVD player as a gift from a friend (actually, I was given the black-coloured version, but they share same features and options, only this one comes with a silver case), and with that I entered the digital age of video. It is a great improvement over the VHS player I had, and I had a hi-fi VHS player with four heads and all the bells and whistles intended to give a clear and stable picture. Quite frankly, there is no comparison.

The picture when playing DVDs is crystal clear, through playback, fast-forward, reverse, and still. Of course there is occasionally fuzziness due to the motion of the action on screen, but in comparison to the stills and fast speeds of the VCR, again this player wins easily.

There are some interesting features, like DVD lock-outs (I haven't had the need, but perhaps a family with young children could use it to prevent adult-rated DVDs from being viewed), and disc-resume for several discs (the documentation tells me up to 6 discs, but I've only ever used it one at a time). I had wondered how one saves a spot on a film the way one does on VHS tapes; now I know!

This has features for various DVD formats, and includes audio CDs and MP3s. I have this connected to the equaliser of my stereo, and the sound is fantastic for both CDs and DVDs. There is a virtual surround sound that enhances the sound through the stereo; while I don't have a four- or six-speaker set-up, I still have a much greater experience of sound from this DVD player than from the VCR that is likewise connected to my stereo.

Of course, with a brand name of Sony, one expects high quality, and on this DVD player, they deliver. I have learned to trust Sony products over the past 30 years (I had a television which lasted nearly 25 years from Sony).

This machine is very slim, and fits quite well on top of my VCR, so there was no need to rearrange furniture, buy new stands, etc. It is compact and easy to install, and has auto-set-up features that make it almost completely plug-and-play.

By far my greatest surprise with a DVD player, however, has to be that it makes a great cat toy. Cat toy, you ask? Yes. With the remote, the disc drawer can be opened and closed by remote control. One cat finds this truly fascinating, and tries to 'catch' the tray as it zooms in and out. The cat also is attracted to the lights on the face going on and off. Who knew?

Summary: Sony DVP-NS325B DVD Player (Black)
Review: I'm the electronics geek / enthusiast in the family. So, it came as a surprise that my wife informed me she was off to pick out a DVD player for the family! What she brought home was this really nice Sony DVP-NS325B DVD Player (Black), loaded with features that make it useful for everyday play. It doesn't record but the sound and picture from every disc we've played (from Finding Nemo, the Indiana Jones Trilogy and even some borrowed dvd club copies) have been absolutely top notch.
The remote control as mentioned earlier is easy to use and logically laid out. This is a reasonably priced DVD player, one disc at a time, nothing fancy machine that may not impress your friends by how much it cost, but WILL impress them with the gorgeous picture and sound.

Summary: Good Even though no optical out.
Review: Just about every thing I have is a Sony. The reason I got this dvd is because I needed a player that can play my movie backups, DVD-R-RW+R+RW. My older sony dvd about 5 years old, plays dvd-r's, but every now and then it freezes, so this new player plays the dvd-r's perfectly, with no problem. the only thing i dont like is it has no optical output. I will hook it up coaxle to see what that is like. Also the Price was nice. And I Just like Sony for just about everything..
