Review: First unit I bought wouldn't read any DVD I tried. Exchanged it for another one. The second one plays the DVD however the sound cuts in and out. Also, the battery will not accept a charge. The unit won't play using battery power. I give up. I'll try another brand.

Summary: WARY OF CYBERHOME BRAND
Review: I have purchased two DVD units from CyberHome - one is a portable DVD and the other a progressive DVD. I purchased less than a year ago and neither unit works any longer. The units will not power on at all. I tried sending repeated emails to Cyberhome via their website to inquire as to how to have units serviced, and have received NO RESPONSE. And, of course, they offer no phone number to call. Buyer beware. Pay a few bucks extra for a Sony, Panasonic, etc. . .

Review: I BOUGHT THIS PLAYER BECAUSE MY BROTHER HAS ONE AND IT SEEMED LIKE A REALLY NICE PLAYER. HOWEVER, LIKE THE OTHER USERS, MY BATTERY WAS TOTAL CRAP AT 50% POWER AND WOULD NOT TURN ON AT ALL! I SENT IT BACK TO THE STORE RIGHT AWAY! DON'T BUY IF YOU ARE SMART!

Review: Currently own a Panasonic LV75 (7" portable, cost $650 three years ago!). Needed another portable DVD player for the other kid for the long plane ride.$280 is a great price. PROBLEMs with the unit make it almost unusabe. I returned it. 1) Quality of 7" display - had to be right in front of the thing to see it. Image gets darker as you move off center. 2) Battery is crap. Had to charge it for 5 hours to run for 100minutes. A far cry from the sales claim of 4.5 hours. 3) At 50% battery or less, the unit would NOT turn on nless plugged in!!@#@ 4) Sound. Sound is low quality and max volume is 30. Had to set volume to 20 to hear it with nothing else in a quiet house. 5) Controls for brightness are inconsistent with the rest. There are better choices. Pay the extra $75 or $125 and get a better unit made by someone else. The Panasonic may look alot like the CyberHome byt is 4x the quality.

Summary: Great value for money
Review: I've had it to about 8 months now and has been taken on long flights, car trips etc. and my 2 and a half year old loves it.
Has all the features,plays mp3 and is a progressive scan player.
The battery does last for almost 4 hours and comes with all the chargers. Hightly recommended. Only draw back is that it has only one headphone out. I use a splitter to connect 2 sets, though my daughter enjoys watching with the built in speaker sound. Highly recommended.

Review: THE GOOD
-It will play back nearly any type of disc you can put in it.
-Great as an all-in one CD/MP3/JPEG Photo/VCD/DVD playback machine.
-It will output a PAL or NTSC signal to your TV / Monitor (your choice) for any type of disc played.
-Multi-region hacks are readily available to play back discs from anywhere in the world regardless of zone.
-Great for hooking up to a portable video projector or to other peoples equipment for movies/presentations on the go. THE BAD
-A relatively cheaply engineered finish.
-LCD sceen is passable, but has very limited viewing angle, and resolution isn't anywhere near as good as the likes of Panasonic portable players.
Overall good value for money if you are looking for a flexible unit.
I mostly use mine hooked up to some sort of external display device and sound system, and it works great.
As a stand alone unit for watching movies on the LCD screen it is only average.

Review: I shopped around for portable DVD players and eventually purchased this cyberhome modle because of it's price and features. The deluxe bag and all the hardware included made this purchase more attractive. The quality of the display was good except for one flaw I noticed. While watching a movie I noticed that while the film panned left or right there seem some sort of display problem that made the image look shaky instead of smooth or flowing. This is the only drawback. Overall I would recommed this unit for someone who wants features but also has budget restrictions.

Review: After purchasing and returning two Initial IDM9520s, I decided to do some research. This little guy is fairly priced and is not as big as I thought and so far is pretty consistent in performance. It's aluminum cabinet makes it very rugged. It plays every disc format except WMA. I made a WMA CD and tested it and even after two minutes, it was still trying to load the disc. Therefore, if you have a very tight skedual, you may take my word for it and don't waiste your time ripping from a regular audio CD to WMA. That's OK though because MP3s are still pretty small. Note that the smaller the MP3's file size, the poorer the sound quality. You must decide which is more important, disc space or sound quality. I tend to go with disc space because when my mom and I go shopping together, I don't want to have to carry too many CDs with me. OK, the built-in speakers just below the 7" screen sound like crap, but what do you expect from such tiny speakers? The earphones provided aren't all that good either, but the audio output coming from the audio jacks is perfect and with either a high-quality pair of headphones or a stereo/home theatre system, it'll sound great. Speaking of connecting headphones and/or other audio components, this thing features more outputs and inputs than more expensive brands. The eighth-inch audio jack may either be an input for a game or camcorder, a stereo output for a TV set or stereo/home theatre system, or an optical digital output for hookup to a home theatre system. The eighth-inch video jack may either be input for a game or camcorder, composite video output for standard TV sets, S-video output for TVs with this feature, or best of all, component video output for high-end TVs! Currently, this along with a Bose Acoustic Wave Music System is my bedtime entertainment system. For all you Americans who love West-End musical theatre such as Cameron Mackintosh, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, this one's for you! Some DVDs made in the UK may never be released here. You can order them as imports, but normally, they don't play on American DVD players because of region locking. There is a way around this. With the player's disc cover open, using the remote control, press the Stop (square) button followed by 1999. Using the arrow keys, select 'Region Code' and press enter. Now use the arrow keys to select a particular region or 'ALL.' Press 'Enter' to confirm this setting. Finally, press 'SETUP' to exit and close the disc cover. If you want proof I'm not making this up, go to http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdhacks and search for this player. While you're there, you might want to also search for any other players you might own to see if it can be modified through it's unique remote control. If I have any bad luck with this player in the future, I will rewrite my review and lower my rating.

Summary: Great DVD Player For Teenagers!
Review: I purchased two of the Cyberhome CH-LDV712 portable DVD players at Radio Shack for $299 each. After reading some of the reviews, I was terrified at the possibility of giving my 14 and 19 year old daughters something that wouldn't work. So, I spent some time testing both units before wrapping them up. I am pleased to report that both units worked just fine right out of the box. I tested them with a variety of DVDs with and without the battery pack. I played two full-length feature films using the battery pack without losing power or any other problem whatsoever. With a fully-charged battery I was able to play at least 4.5 hours of programming and I was pleasantly surprised at both the picture quality and sound from this little unit. Unlike television sets and other CRT devices, TFT was never intended to provide good viewing at all angles but the picture was as good or better than one might expect from a 7" TFT screen. In fact, with some small portable speakers (or headphones) attached, the sound is excellent and what I would consider to be in scale with my much larger home stereo system. It appears to be sturdy and after some pretty heavy use over the past month, neither unit has malfunctioned. One of them is making daily trips to work and usually gets plugged into the television every night. Overall, I'm delighted with the 712 as a portable DVD player. Its performance is definitely beyond what I had expected from something this small and inexpensive. The only thing missing is a carrying case for the player and all the attachments that come with it.

Summary: WALMART NOT CHEAPER
Review: THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT FOR THE MONEY. THE WALMART MODEL IS NOT THE 712 IT IS AN OLDER MODEL WITH NOT AS MANY FEATURES I HAVE HAD THE 712 FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND LOVE IT. I TAKE IT EVERYWHERE.I ALSO PURCHASED THE DVR 2500 MODEL WHICH IS A DVD RECORDER AND PLAYER. AGAIN I GOT THIS FOR 300$$ I THINK CYBERHOME HAS EASY TO USE PRODUCTS, GREAT PRICES, AND SO FAR IN THE FIRST 3 WEEKS I HAVE RECORDED 35 MOVIES AND SAVED LOTS OF MONEY.
