Summary: Great picture and sound
Review: If you know panasonic dvd players you may know how well their sound and picture are, this player is no ecseption.I have read some people found the remote to small, after a few nights practicing i come to like this remote more than any i owned, the buttons are right were they should be and easy in the dark(after practicing).I have three dvd players and have tried many others this one has the best picture and sound quality out of any, and there is nothing to compare with how many options you have to play with. While researching a good 5 disc player to buy i read some reviews saying this player was difficult to hookup and understand the settings,I'm not a total idiot but i'm sure not an electronics expert and i had no problems understaning this player,i did have to refer to the manual for the first couple nights but i'm sure glad i did this thing is loaded with features.Great value

Summary: Worked great for 9 months
Review: In the first 9 months we had it, it was great. Picture quality is amazing when hooked up to a 50" plasma. I really love the multi-disc feature because you can watch a movie that's on more than one disc without getting up to swap discs out. This is particularly handy when you are watching a TV show.

I can't speak to audio CD playback ability, I haven't used it.

After 9 months of pretty heavy use (we don't watch regular TV anymore, almost exclusively DVDs) it decided that it wasn't going to play anymore. It now plays for about 20 minutes and then starts to freeze. There is nothing you can do correct this. Reinsterting the disc does nothing. It's even hit the point where it will randomly not recognize a disc anymore.

It was a great player while it lasted, the operation was intuitive. I only wish it would have lasted longer. I had a carousel CD player at one point that lasted for 6 years of heavy use so you can build a good carousel player.

Guess I'll give Sony another shot.

Summary: Very good player
Review: It plays everything I've put in it - DVD, DVD+R, CD-R, CD-RW, CDs with MP3s on them, and does a much better job of it than my old Toshiba 2200. The picture is better than the older Toshiba, sharper and smoother with much better color. Try the enhanced black level setting in the setup menu - it makes things look better on my Trinitron. It's also very slim, as the name suggests, if you care about that kind of thing. You can probably get better performance out of a more expensive player, but I haven't seen anything better at this price.

Summary: Great value for the money
Review: Likes: Slim (2 inches tall), Quiet disc tray mechanism, recognizes and starts up DVDs fast, handles scratched/worn discs well, easy to use onscreen menu.

Dislikes: It takes 5 seconds to recognize an audio CD. The disc tray contents display consists of just 5 LEDs. I thought that was rather cheap for a Panasonic player. Trays with discs in them should have displayed lighted numbers instead. The main display is also small, and the disc indicator, consisting of numbers with circles around them, doesn't seem to work right (I need to debug this further by reading the manual in more detail). I tried these things out without reading the manual to see how easy the product is to use. However, these are just cosmetic issues, and there's nothing fundamentally wrong with this product. For [the price], the value can't be beat.

Summary: Bad!
Review: My experience with this thing has been bad. I got it because it was reasonably priced and had 5 disc capabilities.
It worked alright for about a month. However, it was far from ideal. This thing reads discs at an astonishingly slow pace and the mechanical motor that drives the 5 disc tray was totally weak and it took forever just to change a CD.
Now, the tray barely moves (just creeps a few inches) and must be manually shoved into place. The motor is clearly inadequate to drive a five disc tray. What I learned from this is that if you are looking in the budget category, it is probably better to get a SINGLE DVD PLAYER rather than taking the risk with the MANY mechanical things that can go wrong with a carousel type like this. A hundred something dollar lesson. I am now looking for a combo single DVD/VHS deck that should be simpler and more reliable. Avoid this unit. Really.

Summary: Buyer Beware
Review: Over the past few years Panasonic has been selling DVD players with motors that burn out after about 1 year. My player was an S35 and it lasted nine months. Panasonic has done nothing to address this situation. If you really want the Panasonic, scour the Web before you buy to make sure that there aren't a lot of complaints out there. Then cross you fingers.

Summary: Very good video quality, excellent compatibility
Review: This DVD player will play ALL of your CDs/DVDs (including DVD-R, DVD-RW, SVCD, VCD, MP3, CDR, CDRW). Has not failed to play any of my discs. Video quality is very good. This is a great step-up from the cheap Apex DVD players that many people buy; it has many more features and higher quality but it is still priced reasonably. A complaint is the loading time, but it is bearable.
One of the people who gave a bad rating said that they bought the player out of country and it didn't work; that's their fault for buying a broken player from Mexico. And another person gave a bad rating because it wouldn't play 5 DVDs at one time...so you can increase the overall rating of this unit accordingly.

Summary: Great DVD Player! Lousy Cd Player....
Review: Well, were do I start? After a fair amount of research I decided that this was the unit. Hook up was straight forward, but the instructions are like reading a chapter in your high school trigonometry book. DVD picture and play back qualities are trememdous! I can't give enough praise! Better than my JVC unit. I initially bought this player to kill two birds with one stone. My first generation DVD player(5yrs old) was starting to have issues, so I thought why not replace it along with my 5 disc CD carousel This would eliminate one too many components. While in itself a good idea, the capabilities of the Panasonic unit have much to be desired for CD format. First off you cannot shuffle songs at random on a fully or partially loaded tray, nor can you program specifc songs for a play list. Because the Panasonic unit plays CD's through your DVD channel, the only options for sound playback are Dolby surround, and or stereo. A CD player that plays through its Cd channel on your tuner can allow many more options, such as concert, stereo, hall, jazz, Surround simulated, etc. This of course only applies if you have a Stereo tuner with a 5.1 surround system. I also want to mention that the message window on this unit is so small you have to squint to see which track is playing. I want to love this unit, but if not for it's short commings on CD playback and options, I'm left lamenting for a better versatile unit. In conclusion I would have to rate this unit 3 & 3/4 stars out of 5. I am considering trading it for the Panasonic S35K, which is a single disc tray with the same stuff. ...
