Summary: Bad!
Review: After studying the many DVD players on he market that played the different formats, I decided to take a chance on this unit. First of all the price was right, not too cheap, not too expensive. Secondly, it plays all the formats that I wanted it too since my original sony single bay DVD player couldn't play any format other than a movie. Third, it had the component video and progressive scan options I was looking for which are a big plus for the Home Theater guru like myself. Finally I knew the Panasonic name is pretty well known in the electronics industry. After giving it a good working over for a few months now I would HIGHLY recommend this DVD player. The only 2 downfalls to this player in my opionion (the reason for the 4 stars, I'd actually give it 4.5 stars) is #1: The remote and it's tiny buttons. It's hard to get use to and feel around on the remote if you have big paws. Luckily I find myself not really using the remote a lot so other than that, no complaints really. #2: It helps if you remember what bay # you put the DVD in to play becuase of the reading process it has to do when you insert a disc. If you don't take note what bay has which disc, then you have to go through and read all 5 bays. That seems to be the only major weakness. But a press of one button on the remote and the unit reads all the discs (which takes a few seconds) then shows you a menu on your TV what format every disc is in the player.

It has played my VCD's perfect after making them with the nero software on my computer. I've enjoyed many JPEG cd's I've made, and it also plays my MP3 cd's perfectly. It has a nice nametag menu for the mp3's for ease of searching for songs. I love that feature! And of course the DVD movies are great. Also a big plus is the 5 bay carousel and what I really like is that you can change DVD's in the other 4 bays without stopping play. One more thing that I would definitely recommend is to splurge and get a component cable (I bought the Acoustic Research AP091 cable) and go that route for the hookup. I noticed a BIG difference in the video clarity and the colors are so much more vibrant it is truly amazing. I had been using an S-video cable on my last DVD player and upgraded hesitantly to the component video on this unit. I thought the component hookup was hype, but it does make a difference playing on a good TV. This unit is being used with a 43" Hitachi digital TV and the video is amazing. Especially for the JPEG photo's that you can view. Great for creating family photo albums!

So far This unit works great and has performed up to my standards and beyond. There may be better units out there or cheaper ones that might do as well but for the money this one is perfect in my opinion. All the cd's I've made have worked fine after converting them to the different formats on my computer. Bottom line, I have had no problems playing anything on this fine unit and found it is worth the money.

Summary: Nice look even better play!
Review: Great Dvd player best picture and a great amount of little things you can tweak to your own liking. I researched Dvd players for a week until a came to this dicision and Im very glad I did,a friend bought a 5-disc player the same time I did but a diffrent brand(I woun't say which or this review may not show. I'll just say it is a large company that starts with an S) Sometimes we go to his house and watch THe Man Show on Dvd and it's always skipping all his movies do alot of skipping with his player and I try them at my house on this Panasonic and they work fine.Usually when his player starts skipping I give him a smartbut kinda laugh just to tease him and all he can say is that his player is easier to use than mine,I always laugh much harder when he says that,it may be true But keep this in mind,A Dodge Viper may be harder to drive than a Nissan Altima but give me the Viper anyday. This may sound a litttle blown out of proportion but to me my Home Theatre and Dvd player are my Dodge Viper!

Summary: only plays one at a time!
Review: I bought this DVD player because I thought you can play 5 movies at a time. It doesn't! It only plays one, and the other 4 just sit there in the machine and do nothing. If you want to see five movies at once, you'll have to buy 5 different DVD players. That's too many, and you still have to watch them one at a time.

Summary: Major reliability issue
Review: I bought this player and the motor died within 10 mos. making it worthless (new motor is $90). This seems to be a common problem with Panasonic DVD players after researching on the internet.

Other details of this model:
--Can't directly access disks from unit (no Disk 1, 2, etc. buttons), only from remote
--Slow and very frustrating disk exchange process
--Picture quality was very good

Summary: Jusy as good as the praised 35 models
Review: I cant belive there is a reviewer on here who gave this player 1 star becouse it couldnt play 5 dvd's at once, who has every heard of such a stupid thing.look if your that dumdfounded by electronics go spend $60 on a cheap-o player,if your slightly more inteligent than that and you want a player that performs with better picture, sound, and features look no further.I review just about every new player that comes out especially panasonic,i've taken a liken to the great perfomance these machines have.True there are some minor things that could have been better . larger display would have been better but i seat rather close so i can read it just fine.If you want performance buy this.If you want simple/stupid not having to read the directions ,well...stay with your vcr becouse to enjoy a great player you may have to read a manual a couple times and devote a full night to just setting everything up just right(there's alot of bells and whistles in the menu display)if you can do that this is the only 5 disc player right now that i've had no trouble with.

Summary: Best MP3 DVD changer
Review: I have no idea what the previous reviewer is talking about. I own this unit and I love it. It displays full MP3 tags on your TV and various bit rate info and stuff. My MP3s never skipped. He must gotten a bad unit. Maybe it's just an illusion, but the sound quality from the optical out was much better than my old daewoo. I thought all digital signals are the same.

The DVD carosel is very smooth and fast. No problem changing discs. The setup menu is very good with lots of options. The manual needs work. It's too cramped with info. For the price, you can't buy a better DVD MP3 changer.

Summary: Worthless Defective Unit
Review: I made the mistake to bring this item outside USA and as soon as I got it, I found out that the unit was defective and unable to play any DVD. The Panasonic technician said that the problem was impossible to fix ("digital card" and "servo" damaged) and also, that the warranty was void outside USA. Nobody at Panasonic Customer's Service was able or willing to help. This useless DVD player at least can play factory CDs but has problems reading some CD-Rs (distorted audio signal). And the CD changer is incredibly noisy every time it changes from one CD to another. Finally, it takes almost 20 seconds to read any CD. Noisy carrousel, slow reading and defective construction. Worst buy ever.

Summary: Plays DVDs OK, but...
Review: I was initially very excited about the advertised features and price of this unit. I got this thinking to replace my old CD changer and DVD player, plus gain MP3 capability for my stereo. WRONG.

It plays DVDs fine. If that's all you need perhaps consider it. But it couldn't play MP3s of any kind without frequent skipping, or play CD-Rs that my old (reeeal old, like probably 10 year old LOL) player handles fine. Even as a simple CD changer it was slow and clumsy to use and would have been unsatisfactory. I was especially disappointed and surprised at Panasonic; this was more what I might have expected from a no-name brand.

So there ya go, don't get this unless you only want to play DVDs on it.
