Summary: WARNING DO NOT BUY THIS PLAYER !
Review: The newest from Samsung STILL has MAJOR PROBLEMS... The only good thing I can report, is that they fixed the 4x3 aspect ratio issue it's predicessor had. HOWEVER, now the player has a few more bugs that Sansung doesn't even want to address. Whenever you are watching a disc, it will not remember the aspect ratio if you power down... Now if thats not bad enough, it will also, and this is the worse, default to SUBTITLES BEING ON ! You then have to go thru several soft keys to then cut it off ! This only happens when running off the battery..I went thru 3 of these players, they all had the same issue. The sound still sucks ! and the picture seems dimmer in order to save battery life a bit more... Oh well, needless to say, I was disappointed...

Summary: Good unit, but with a bug...
Review: This a fine portable DVD player and it's worked well for me for a while, but Panasonic has thus far (many weeks) not responded to a serious bug that I've developed - after playing a Black & White DVD (an old Hitchcock movie), every movie plays Black & White on the unit's screen (it outputs Color fine to an external monitor/TV). If you stick with Color movies you're golden, but if you intersperse B&W, watch out!!

Summary: BEST BUY ANYWHERE ON EARTH!
Review: This a outstanding piece of equipment. It plays DVD,CD,VCD IN MULTIPLE FORMATS. I have burned CD,and VCD as well from. my laptop computer. They all played back perfectly. I have owned mine for over 2 years. I purchased it in Singapore. Sure it uses 220 power, however a adaptor allows it ro run on US power. The additonal battery is a godsend and performs excellently. Speakers sound nice, but are better with Bose Self Powered Lifestyle speakers jacked in. I have a Laptop, that costs over 4355 dollars, and even with a 32MB sound chip. It can`t touch this portable unit. The remote control unit uses a battery that runs down rather quickly, other than that. I am very pleased with it. I have traveled the globe with it, used it in motel rooms in many foreign countries, and it never let me down at all. Keep the laser lens clean, you will enjoy years of ejoyment.

Summary: LOVE IT!
Review: Three weeks ago on July 17,2002 I received my Panasonic DVD-LA95. Well let me tell you it was well worth the wait. I had to order it ... and it took a month for me to get it because of the high demand. I'm in love with it. Beleave me I did my research before making my mind up about which brand I wanted. The internet is a great thing. After reading all of the reviews my mind was made up. If you are look for a portable DVD player this is the one to get. The picture, sound and all over quality of this unit is outstanding---it does it all. What more can I say about it but that I love it.

Summary: Still the best there is
Review: Trust me when I say that I looked at just about every portable DVD player on the market before deciding on this one. Yes, this Panasonic is relatively expensive and you can find much cheaper alternatives. However, the Panasonic has the best picture out there and a very large screen size to boot. Plus, the external speakers on the Panasonic are head and shoulders above anything else out there, especially for watching and listening to the unit in the car. The unit is very thin and light weight so you must be careful with it as with any portable DVD player. I recommend the well-padded Targus bag which converts to a seat mount in the car. Very cool, although it costs about $60.

In terms of battery life, I would say that you can get about 2 hours out of this thing, but not if you have it at the brightest screen setting and not if you have the volume turned up all the way. You can also buy an external Panasonic battery which mounts to the bottom of the unit for an additional 2-3 hour battery life, but this things costs close to $200 so I haven't done that yet. For the car, you can either buy Panasonic's car adapter ($100+ for some reason) or buy a power inverter from Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc. for about $40. The inverter will allow you to plug the AC adapter that comes with the unit into your car's DC cigarette lighter.

After using this unit for a couple months, I can highly recommend it to anyone. Yes, it costs more than most, but you get what you pay for. This thing has been great for taking my 1 year old on long trips to visit relatives. It's also good to bring with you to restaurants in case the little one gets impatient. Plus, you will get a lot of compliments from the restaurant staff and other patrons who tell you it's just about the coolest thing they have ever seen.

Summary: Fantastic DVD player!
Review: We have had the LA95 now for about 6 months. It has made 4 trips back and forth over an 8 hour trip with our 2 year old and has made such a difference. Get a cassette deck adapter to play the sound through the car if you can and try to find a good power adapter so that you don't rely on the battery since it lasts for about 2 hours and then the show is over. There is another battery that fits underneath the unit that can be purchased still. Or if can be ordered from Panasonic at least. It is questionable if it is worth $ though.

The images on this unit are just hands down impressive. The controls are very intuitive and the sound from the tiny speakers are really impressive considering their size. I have looked at the other offerings side by side and the Panasonic LA95 just topped all the others. The Sony unit was not out when we purchased the LA95 back this past Summer so I cannot comment on the comparison between the two. All I can say is that anything smaller than 9 inches for the screen would be pushing it if you are planning on using this unit anything father than arms length. Thanks for reading!

Summary: Buyer Beware
Review: When my Panasonic, no longer under warranty, needed a repair, I discovered that I had two options, either throw it away or buy a rebuilt player. The problem was a dead backlight, something that should have been a simple repair, but due to way machine is designed turns out not to be. I bought the rebuilt player and that was defective. It does come with a 90 day warranty, but local certified Panansonic dealer won't honor it. And on and on the story goes.

So beware, product was good, but once something happens and you enter the service system, you will experience frustrations.

Summary: Remote lacks volumn control
Review: Wow, great picture and sound, light weigh, lots of features and yet no ability to control the volumn from the remote? What's with that? This is about the most used feature of most remotes. Instruction manual lacks a index.
