Summary: Terrific latest technology in one unit!
Review: With it's extra-slim design and plenty of features to satisfy any needs, I wonder why the rest of DVD players are so huge (and expensive). At about 7 lbs and less than 2 in. thick it delivers stunning quality picture with most types of disks there are these days.
Certain limitations, like maximum 150 mp3's or jpg's per folder, suggest that you cannot dump all your files in root of the disk, but in 99 out 100 cases that won't matter if your disks are sorted at all.
Cool blue line (can be dimmed) on player's face and glow-in-the-dark buttons on the control unit make it more fun (and practical), and using remote control for TV operation puts both units in harmony (works perfect with my Toshiba TV!)

I highly recommend this DVD player (JVC XV-N50BK) as 1st unit in the household, as well as a replacement for an old one!

Summary: not as good as the panasonic 35 ! but still pretty good
Review: The first dvd player i got about 5 years ago was a JVC model,i kept it for about 3 years and never had even as much as a single skip with it.After that player I tried all players i used to work at a large electronic store so i had plenty of time to play with them all, there are a couple things i like and dislike about this player the worst thing i guess is that it does not tell you what audio your in...example 5.1 ENG. or 2.0 ENG or 6.1dts,this player only tells ya what language its in ENG.,FRENCH,SPANISH...etc.This i didnt care for, there is also a glowing blue light on the front disc tray it looks cool for a while, but if your like me and enjoy movies in the dark it can become destrateful a bit to bright even on the lowest dimmer setting. The remotes not to bad with nice large buttons, but there spread to far apart.Thats the bad stuff, the good stuff is the picture and sound quality are pretty darn good.ALL in all read my review on the Panasonic s35 its probally the best player you can buy,but if you just love JVC you wont have to many regrets here.

Summary: best dvd player....plays any dvds
Review: This is the best dvd player I have had. before this player, I have had a Sony and Proscan, and both never worked with all dvds. Especially Indian movies would get stuck almost all the time half way through. This JVC player has not given me any problems whatsoever. Also the picture quality is the best among any players that I have seen, costing triple of the price I paid for this player.

Summary: Not a Jvc fan
Review: Im not a fan of JVC, however I am open minded and I checked this baby out really good before I bought it. I took a couple of my dvd-r's and a factory dvd with me. I was amazed when it played everything I threw at it. It doesnt play dvd ram however. I seen
no stuttering problem at all, must have got a good one. I ended
up buying it. Ive been a audio/video enthusiast for sometime and
this is my second progressive scan player. The one I took home is
a good one too, I havnt had a single problem with it so far. It
even displays the folders you put your windows media files in from your computer (Handy). The only reason Im not giving it 5
stars is I do agree with one other reviewer, The blue light on the loading tray is a little distracting, but when you dim it, it
can be gotten used too. I love the looks but I like the prformance alot better. If you Like JVC you will love this player
because its compu-link system will easily intigrate with your JVC
audio system. If your not a JVC fan like me you will love it for its price vs. the loads of features.

Summary: Loving this DVD Player
Review: I bought this DVD Player a few months ago and I absolutely love it. It plays everything I put in it. I have had problems with other players over-heating. I haven't had that problem with this player. I played up to 5 dvds in a row without it even being warm.

Summary: Im very analretentive about what I buy.
Review: Im the type who researches exaustively about any product before I buy it. I know Im a freak compared to others but I usually end up with the best for what I have to spend. I bought this 3 weeks ago and I haven't noticed any stutter or any other issues. It plays and looks fantastic using component output. I have one week left before I can return it but so far Im pleased. I used the Playstation 2 and a Sony Portable DVD player before this one and the JVC blows them out of the water.

Summary: 6 months and still loving it.
Review: Was surprised to see the negatives regarding stutter on this machine. I have about 500 DVD's in my collection, including some VCD's, and DVD's I have burned myself and have not notices any instances of stutter. Am also curious regarding the remark that it stutters when it pans, since the DVD player is just decoding data...and not "panning" anything.

The positives regarding this machine are numerous. It will play disks that will not play on my computer. It's error correction is excellent. The main reason I bought this machine was so that I could play VCD's, CD-R, and DVD+R disks. And it doesn't disappoint. The remote is set up well. There was a previous negative comment that the buttons were too far apart. Personally, I view this as a positive because you can actually use it in the dark because the are far enough apart that you can actually press the right button (one you figure out the pattern that is). The only negative I can see is that the DVD carrying tray itself seems quite flimsy. I can see a pair of little hands snapping it off in a heartbeat! Those of you with small children beware!

Summary: Stutter ruins the bargain
Review: I was enjoying the unit, but didn't really notice the annoying stutter during panning until I'd gotten rid of the box. Drat. Now I'll see if JVC has fixed the problem and is willing to swap it out.

Summary: Power Supply Busted - Needs service after 4 months!
Review: I thought I had a good value from a reputable brand, but all of a sudden the dvd player just shuts down. I need to unplug and re-plug it to get it to start up again, only to have it shut down again. I contacted JVC and will see what kind of response I get to extending the Labor warranty past 90-days? Would hate to pay $50 to fix this thing. This kind of problem should not happen on new electronics, especially from reputable established companies.

Summary: The stutter is real
Review: The picture quality on this inexpensive player is very nice, no doubt about it. But the horizontal stutter is real and it's intolerable. I returned mine. I guess sometimes saving a couple bucks isn't worth it.
