Rating: Summary: Excellent player for a small home theater Review: I bought this DVD player over a yr ago. I have just hooked it up to a Philips 5.1 Dolby Digital surround system via the coaxial digital audio output and it delivers incredible sound. Each channel is distinct and crisp..and movies sound amazingly life-like. The picture is also very crisp and sharp utilizing the s-video hook-up with my television. I was a little worried at first due to buying low priced dvd players before this and getting junk. However, I was pleasantly surprised and have played many DVD's (both my own and rentals) over the past 15 months and have enjoyed each and every one of them thanks to this great unit. The only thing it doesnt do is play mp3's which is ok....the sound that comes out of it when a regular cd is played is also outstanding (much better than the AIWA stereo I owned prior and that one sounded great). So, for the novice home-theater buff (like myself) I highly recommend this DVD player. I will eventually upgrade to a much more pricier and higher-end product, but for now, this unit does it's job and does it quite well. Thank you KLH.

Rating: Summary: KHL DVD Player Review: I was given this DVD player as a present. It worked good for 6 months. Now it will not play many movies and the sound has to be turned up very high on the TV when it does work. I would not recommend buying it.
Rating: Summary: KLH dvd221 Review: This is my first DVD player; I bought it about 2 years ago without knowing much about my options. When I got it, I didn't have an AV receiver, so I didn't notice the lack of an optical audio connection. The first thing I did notice is that my universal remote didn't have a listed code, and it didn't find one by searching.Currently, the player is connected to a Yamaha HTR-5450 receiver. I've noticed some audio synch problems for a while, which really bug me, but don't seem to bother my girlfriend. Recently, I've also had a lot of trouble with discs freezing or skipping. This occurs with both brand new and old discs, and is rarely helped by cleaning. I haven't gone to the trouble to test the discs on other players to determine for sure where the fault is, but I'm pretty sure it's the KLH. I've read that both the skipping and the audio synch problems are related to an ill-defined set of standards for DVD, and many older players have been reported to have trouble with newer discs.

Rating: Summary: KLH dvd221 Review: This player had trouble reading some dvd's that I rent. Even those that look perfectly fine and that play fine on my computer. It will not read DVD+R/RW or CD-R/RW. When a DVD is recognized and works, the picture quality is fine. I can't depend on the player to read DVD's that I rent, so I am looking for a different player.
