Summary: good but beware of claimed 96/24 support
Review: This is a great DVD player. Only one problem really: This DVD player only supports 96khz/24bit ANALOG output. It downsamples on the DIGITAL output. Sony did this to prevent piracy.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent player - both sound and video
Review: This player is the benchmark standard of all DVD players. Read a review of this player in Stereo Review's Sound & Vision. Every other player is measured against this piece. The video is superb, especially hooked up with the component video outputs, and the audio is amazing. As far as the downsampling goes, Sony was simply complying with the manufacuring standard of the industry which did not want to allow a digital bitstream passing out of the player at 24/96. That is why it is downsampled to 48! Additionally, if you have DACs in your system that are better than the ones in this Sony, you should be looking higher, like at a Lexicon or a Meridian player.

Summary: Best DVP for the money
Review: When it comes to quality SONY is where you shop! This player gives you true command of your DVD viewing pleasure.

Top notch picture quality along with easy to use remote control. I've actullay got this hooked up to an older Pioneer receiver with older speakers and the sound is outstanding.

The picture quality with still settings is wonderful and the jog function makes this player well worth the higher cost. Don't bother with lower models, after looking at the picture produced by this one you will truly apppreciate the additional expense.

Top Notch all the way around!
