Review: When you research a question with the end result you want known well in advance it's pretty simply to find / create the backgroud that will allow you reach you preplanned destination. Michael Moore is nothing more than an individual with strong opinions who happens to have created a tall soap box for his preaching. Very unimpressive. He elects to hear only what he wants to hear --- case in point --- his inability to hear himself being booed off the stage at the Oscars.

Review: I went into to Bowling for Columbine thinking it's about Michael Moore ranting and Raving about gun control. Boy was I surprised when he didn't harp on gun control at all. Instead he focused on many areas such as is it movies, games, music, guns, Media, and so on. THis is a must see for everyone and I would allow it in schools, except there is Strong Language and Violent images. I won't harp on it to much but definetly watch this documentary.

Review: This movie should be watched with an open mind. If you cannot appreciate a different view on guns, violence, and who has the bigger influence on kids than you will not be able to understand this movie. Moore does an excellent job in asking the provoking questions regarding these issues. Even if you disagree with his "tactics" you should at least LISTEN and THINK about the answers. In this movie Moore tries to get people to listen and think about the issues. Watch this movie and discuss it with people who have different views.... watch this movie and grow to respect both sides.

Summary: Cliched, but true... this movie changed my life
Review: I find it fascinating that the only negative review of this amazing and touching film, is by some hillbilly from Inn-Dee-Annna with absolutely no comprehension of spelling or basic grammar. Open your mind and this movie will teach you to let go of your fears. Well researched, and expertly made, BFC is in a class of its own. Shame on you, Mr. Heston... you racist scumbag.

Summary: Ugh
Review: For one, this is not a movie about gun control, but rather a movie about fear. Secondly, instead of obsessing over every little factoid contained within this movie and how consistent or inconsistent it may be, LOOK AT THE MAIN MESSAGE OF THE FILM AS A WHOLE. Mike does not say "We shouldn't own guns" -- he says "We live in a lot of fear for no apparent reason." WOW. Call the liberal police, even though he's basically stating the obvious. In fact, one of the main points Mike stressed in this film was that other countries who own the same percentage of guns as the U.S. don't have the same problems with violence that we do. Some have criticized this movie for not answering the thesis Moore proposes at the beginning of the movie. However, the way I see it, we can thank Mike for not ham-handedly selecting a scapegoat for our problems with violence in the U.S. But back to my original point, Mike's message is not a pro-gun control or anti-gun one, but rather an anti-fear movie. Why, then, is everyone so up in arms (pun fully intended) about it? Mike, once again you have made Flint proud. How about following it up with a movie about former Mayor Stanley?

Summary: Bowling for Columbine: What Thumbs Thought
Review: Aside from the fact that this review is horribly biased, my being an avid fan of Michael Moore, there's nothing I can say other than, marvelous! It is quite possibly one of the most moving pieces I have ever seen! I had since before disliked media, after reading Culture Jam by Kale Lasn, and have now grown to dislike the corporate controlled media even more now. Not only are we pumped full of meaningless memes and jingles that hook us to some new brand name; but we are also being spoon fed heaping doses of fear! All this is a stunning realization from Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine. It's not that I didn't notice the fear thing before, but it's that Michael Moore put the truth right in front of my nose and made it so blatantly obvious. This movie will surely go down on my personal Top 10 Most Moving, Inspirational, and Revealing Movies ever made.

Review: If you're anti-gun, you'll watch this movie anyway.
My personal opinion is that violence IS indeed a part of American culture, as well as most other cultures. It freed us from oppression of the English. It allowed our ancestors to conquer the land (not that I really like what happened to the natives). It helped US citizens create a nation, defend it through two world wars, and deal with numerous other threats. As a result, life in the US has been relatively easy and wealthy... Ironically, Hollywood has become so spoiled that the don't respect the legacy of violence that even today, still prevents their "cribs" from being ransacked by thieves. I say remove the weapons from the LAPD cops' hands and lets see what happens to Hollywood! I have no respect for their ignorance. Moore has simply found a controversial point of view, and taken Hollywood's side. The creation of anti-gun laws in general does the following:
* removes the power of self-defense from citizens
* is not effective because criminals will always have illegal weapons
* allows the government to have more power over the citizens (which could be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective, but that's a rant for another day.) Moore shows no respect for folks like Charlton Heston in this movie. Heston devoted much of his life (much more than Moore has devoted to his efforts) to keeping power in the hands of American citizens. Moore's method of making this movie, to me, is offensive. Overly-caffeinated ranting fat men can appear to win arguments when in fact they are wrong- this is something I've certainly seen first hand on many occasions, and its how stupid people often get their way. The truth is that Moore is playing to Hollywood's anti-gun crowd, and followers are showing great approval of his work (of course). Just a little FYI, in addition to Moore being a hypocrite, Many of the Hollywood anti-gun folks (George Clooney, Kevin Costner, Arnold Schwartzenegger, etc) were IN MANY VIOLENT MOVIES despite their anti-gun ramblings. If that isn't HYPOCRACY, I don't know what is! So don't fall into the trap of believing that guns are evil and wrong- they are agnostic tools that allow people to use them for both right and wrong. Don't fall into the anti-gun crowd's trap. Think about the issue thoroughly before you jump on the liberals' bandwagon in this case.

Review: Bowling for Columbine is a beautifully constructed documentary about a little dealt with subject- gun control. Michael Moore tackles this controversial subject head on.
From talking about the tragedy at Columbine, presidential insufficiency and ignorance,
and the USA's astoundingly high death rate due to guns
he made his point that things have got to change.
With interviews from Marylin Manson to Charleton Heston, and film clips in between
to hold interest, this film is an eye opener. A definate MUST SEE!
