Summary: Disturbingly Funny
Review: Every American should see it - Democrats and, especially, Republicans.
Point-by-point explanation of all the lies and deceptions.
It is amazing that people in high office can lie so well with a straight face.
I always knew the Iraq war was the biggest lie ever in the history of the US, but this documentary helps make the case.
The sad part is, most Americans will not see this movie, because they are truly brain-washed.

Summary: Finally the truth
Review: Finally someone tells the truth. It's been frustrating trying to discern fact from fiction with the Bush administration and finally there is a documentary that isn't afraid to speak out and challenge the lies that are being sold to the public.

Summary: Essential Viewing
Review: George Orwell's 1946 essay "In Front of Your Nose" claimed, "We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. Intellectually, it is possible to carry on this process for an indefinite time: the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield." The producer of this disk raises the questions the mainstream media failed to ask during the build-up to war as they failed to examine the war's shifting justifications during the troublesome occupation (shame on them!). If you consider yourself a conscientious citizen and fail to see this documentary, shame on you!

This documentary does not have high production values but the content should not be missed by any U.S citizen-the information is essential to understanding the War in Iraq and the deceit behind this blunder. It took seven years for United States citizens to appreciate the futile role of the U.S military in Vietnam and the deciet behind that waste of money and lives; don't wait 7 years to discover the truth about Iraq today.

Summary: Excellent!
Review: I disagree with the previous review. I thought this documentary, in a clear and oderly manner, addresses the Bush administrations (Cheney, Rice, Powell...) reasons for going to war in Iraq, while also following their subsequent change in reasoning as their previous reasons proved to be faulty. It shows how they consistently lied to the public and used weak or plainly false intelligence to make their case. There is an excellent and wide assortment of individuals interviewed including a number of C.I.A. employees/agents, weapons inspectors, weapons experts, congressman, and more. I only wish it was shot on film or HD and had a higher budget so that it could have made its way into theatres.

Summary: Must See DVD!!
Review: I have watched this and shown it to my family and friends several times over the past few months. Everyone who plans to vote November 2, 2004 owes it to themselves to become educated on the issue of Iraq. This is not the left wing whining about the Bush administration's policies. It's the facts from the people IN THE KNOW, and includes actual televised footage of the players in the Bush administration as they lead the charge for war, and then backpeddle when no WMDs are found. Share this DVD with your family and friends, and make an informed decision to vote wisely on Nov. 2.

Summary: The Intelligence wasn't the failure, it was the system.
Review: I watched this movie with a friend who is a very strong Bush supporter and thought that they would just hate it and denounce the whole thing as "liberal propaganda", but they ended up liking it as much as I did. We both thought that the eveidence presented was convincing and clearly showed that there were intelligence reports inside the CIA that showed that there were serious doubts before the war about Iraq having WMD. How these reports were covered up or altered is not depicted in the movie. They do not try to place blame on anyone in particular, they just point out the fact that the evidence was filtered or altered by the time it got to the decision makers. They present the CIA employees who wrote the original reports and explain how the data therein is different than what eventually became the official record. After you see this, its hard to say that there were "intelligence failures" leading up to the invasion of Iraq. The "intelligence" didn't seem to be the problem. At least some of the intelligence was correct; it was the bureaucracy that seemed to be where the failure occured. The film really does justice to those hard-working CIA employees who got it right and were silenced or lost within the bureaucratic process. Its really well done and worth watching. Highly recomended.

Summary: A must see for conservatives.
Review: I would like to preface my statements by saying that I supported George W. Bush in the 2000 election and I am still a strong supporter of the war on terror. The clear and present danger represented by terrorism is something Americans must never loose sight of. This movie was brought to my attention by a friend of mine at work who's politics are very far to the left. He begged me to see it and judge for myself. I refused thinking it was just one more piece of partisan nonsense offered up by disgruntled Clintonites. He challenged me by saying that the lion's share of people interviewed on the disc were ex D.O.D. and C.I.A. with distinguished service records. I reluctantly agreed to watch.
After my first viewing I was forced to reconsider everything I believed about the war in Iraq. I find it very hard to argue with men who have spent decades in diplomatic and defense positions, some of whom served George W. Bush's father so well in the first Gulf War. As a conservative I feel a real disconnect from this so called "Neo Con" movement. I still haven't decided if I can hold my nose and vote for Kerry in November, but thanks to this eye opening film, I'm sure I won't be voting for the man I voted for in 2000. Everyone should see this movie.

Summary: A lot of good information, but...
Review: In the beginning of this 1 hour documentary, we are very quickly introduced to the 20 or so experts who will be giving their testimony throughout the film. It's done quickly, but after the first 5 or so it becomes a sort of blur and you want to say, "Wait.. slow down..."

The whole film is sort of like that.

There's a LOT of good information in "Uncovered." It makes its case well, by calling upon people from within the CIA and within the government to tell their stories. It also does a very effective job of showing how the Bush administration changed its story over time, and how things that were originally said to be true were then de-emphasized and then finally denied completely.

The problem I have with this documentary is that it throws so much at the viewer so quickly that it weakens the impact of each successive piece. In the interview with the director (in the Bonus Material section of the DVD) he talks about having had only a few months to put all this information together and how frantic the pace was to get it done on time. Frankly, it shows.

What I would really like to see is this same information taken and put into some kind of cohesive narrative, and rather than compressing it all into one hour, give it the time that it deserves and make it a 2 hour film. Let us hear the testimonies of these people with a bit more depth, rather than throwing snippet after snippet at us. "Uncovered" is a great rough draft of a documentary, but as a finished product it's flawed.

For all of that, this is still a documentary worth seeing. There's a lot of great information here; the step-by-step analysis of Powell's speech to the UN is particularly effective. This is an important film and one that needs to be seen.
