Summary: Provocative adult fare
Review: "Curse of the Bambino" is one of the most provocative yet disturbing movies since Last Tango in Paris. I watched it multiple times, and I'm still amazed by Roy's skill in weaving a shocking tale of incest and sexual harassment against the backdrop of Red Sox baseball. Even after seeing it multiple times, I'm still taken aback by the scene in which C.H. Boyf (the seemingly racist sportswriter/protagonist) visciously belittles the Bambino's mentally retarded nephew, Jeff Stone, in a sick attempt to get the young boy to go to bed with him. I'm still confused, though, about the Bambino's reaction to the abuse of his nephew. Instead getting revenge on C.H. Boyf, he lashes out at all of Boston -- putting a curse on the city that results in CHBoyf's hateful, illogical columns becoming a mainstay in the city's leading newspaper. That's some curse!

Summary: A Must Have For Any Red Sox Fan!
Review: For over 80 years the Boston Red Sox have failed to win a World Series, and for many diehard fans the title drought lies with the 1920 sale of pitching star/slugger Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees. This HBO documentary tracks the team's star-crossed history--from its pre-1920 success to the heartbreaks of 1946, 1967, 1975, 1978, 1986 et al.; talks with such loyal Sox supporters as Michael Chiklis, Denis Leary and others on the reality of the "curse"; and suggests that other reasons, from playing at Fenway Park to the team's refusal to integrate until 1959, may be to blame.

I found this documentary to be a must have for any Red Sox fan. From Bill Buckner's mistake to what may have happen if they one, this DVD points out the crucial eliments of the team and ask the all important question, "Does the curse really exist?". "The Curse of the Bambino" is a must have for any Red Sox fan.

Summary: The feel good movie of the century.
Review: I don't know about you, but I laughed so hard watching this documentary it hurt. The play by play of 1986 by all of the Bosux fans was classic. Sorry Dennis Leary but 1986 and Billy Buckner was the feel good moment of the year, even if it did occur against the Mets.

My only complaint is that there was no real coverage of the 1999 ALCS and no Aaron Boone!!! A must have for any Yankee Fan. The Curse is REAL. Yankees baseball!!!

Summary: One of the funniest DVD's ever
Review: I have to admit being a New Yorker I have never have had to live with knowing my team would never win the big one and instead would always lose in the most crushing ways possible. But this DVD had me cracking up the whole way through. Its amazing to watch these fans live for a team that cannot ever get over the hump. But towards the end I started feeling really bad for all these people. Cause you could see the anguish in their eyes, and in their faces. This team really means a lot to them. The fact that it is the brass ring (in this case winning a World Series) none of them will ever be able to grab left me feeling bad for them. Having said that I still laughed about as hard as I ever have at a DVD. My Dad, and I have watched it several times and we still laugh like crazy.

Summary: A winner!
Review: I love baseball and I'm married to a diehard Yankee fan. After watching this film you cannot help but feel for the Bosox fans. This year I'm rooting for them!

Summary: Not very complete...
Review: I watched carefully the part of the interview with Glenn Stout, autor of the wonderful book "Red Sox Century".
In that book Stout explained very well all the stuff of the Ruth's sale to the Yanks. But in the DVD, Stout explained little... it seems like that he was reserving stuff only for his already published book.

Review: I'm sick of DS making a ton of money off making us Sox fans look like miserable morons. This movie is way to over the top, and focus' on all things negative. C'mon, we're better than that. The sox have alway been competitive, and us sox fans have had many great players to watch & many exciting playoffs to watch. Our time is soon.

Summary: This DVD isn't relevant at all and never was.
Review: I'm sure CHB is upset because his gravy train has been disrailed, but the truth is this curse was always something the media loved to bring up instead of talking about racist owners and bad baseball decisions.

Except for Dan's relatives saying how you should buy this DVD, this story is due to hit the bargain bin anyday now. The Dollar Store will have it too.

I'm sorry Dan. Now you are really going to have to work to write your column.

Summary: This is still relevant stuff
Review: If you want to know why it is such a big deal that the Boston Red Sox won the World Series, you should check this out. It neatly summerizes all the facts and superstitions that surrounded this team for 86 years, not including the 2003 season. Watching this on HBO made me a Rex Sox fan over a year ago. Consider this a condenced first part of a trilogy that includes "Still, We Believe", and whatever Red Sox Championship DVD is soon to come out.
