The story of the U.S. invasion of Panama in 1989 is told with a focus on unique circumstances that made intelligence work before the invasion possible. As American troops were already stationed in Panama and were in some cases intertwined with the Panamanian military, the trick was to make Panamanians loyal to their dictator Noriega believe that American actions leading up to the invasion were ordinary drills. Both Panamanian and American veterans of the operation speak on camera and describe how the ultimate airborne invasion remained a complete surprise even as paratroopers were landing in Panama. The other episode on the DVD, "Shadows of the Six Day War," unearths fascinating material about Israel's secret preparations for its June 1967 war with its Arab neighbors. The former head of the Mossad, Israel's intelligence service, describes some of their covert operations, which even included stealing a Mig fighter jet so Israeli pilots could learn the plane's capabilities. Historians and veterans of the conflict discuss how the secret struggles to obtain reliable intelligence made Israel's startling successes on the battlefield possible.
