Summary: Grasshopper
Review: While the crossmen and the bronzemen were intriging, I feel I owe a debt to this fellow. For perhaps without his Bible quotations I may not have read the Bible for myself. I found his grasshopper approach alarming as I proceeded to read the entire chapter and then the book itself. My anger was that I had been lied to . I made a promise that before I died I would read the entire Bible for myself. That I would not trust another to interpret for me. In 3yrs. of carefull study I found out that Jesus was indeed the Messiah, the Christ. My associates still remind me to this day how I first preached the Chariots of the Gods, and sought to persuade them to this Mars approach. This is to my ignorance and shame. It still provokes laughter after more then 20yrs. So it is written, so let it be done. To hell with the guidelines.

Summary: Science Fiction at it worst.
Review: Loved this book when I first read it. Of course I was only 10 at the time. Von Daniken ignors scientific explanations and miss quotes experts. Much of his "evidence" he created or just made up. Typical conspericy theorist, ignor the facts and scream "The sky is falling"! Someone might believe you!

Review: The book is ridiculous, absurd and deserves our attention if not for the simple fact that serious people are paying attention. Mr Von Daniken knows how to peddle ideas and I wish were his publisher. Press on oh nobel soldier of the absurd!

Summary: I gave up after one chapter.
Review: This book might be alright, but every second sentence is a bitter and childlike dig at the scientific community who obviously at some point must have laughed at this guy so hard that he never forgave them. His theories may be right, but I just could not stand the twisted way he has written the book.

Summary: An open mind is one thing...
Review: It's one thing to ask readers to keep an open mind. It's another thing entirely to engage in the supposition-fest that goes on in this book. His constant harping on how current science freezes out his ideas grows tiresome, and serves as a cover for his distortion and misapplication of "evidence." If Von Daniken wrote a little more cogently, and spent more time thinking things through, there might be some worth to this. As it stands, it's a perfect example of how to cash in on a relatively new interest.

Summary: forgotten for a while
Review: i was glad to see daniken on the discovery channel. i had forgotten about this book. i did a book-report on it when i was i the sixth grade (1976). everyone in my class thought i was nuts, i wasn't. just open-minded. i think you do better in this world thinking that anything is possible rather than staying a skeptic. cheers to Von Daniken for speaking his mind.Dianetics isalso a great book-give it a read and see what you think.

Summary: Fascinating program, real alternatives to the "expert" views
Review: After watching this program, I wondered why everyone in the world isn't trying to solve the puzzles/mysteries presented in this program. It makes you really question the history you were tought in school. Definately worth watching over and over again! END

Summary: Interesting
Review: I think its an interesting way of looking at some of the unexplained events of the past cultures - If you want to read a book about ancient cultures then this not the book for you - but if your a little more adventurous and dont have a problem with accepting or at least suspending disbelief then try it - Its worth it - Another title on the same subject is a book called "Gods of the new millenium" by Alan F. Alford - this is a better book by all means and if you can get your hands on this one then you can truly appreciate what both the writers are trying to say - basically not for the weak minded - It gives you something to think about and you can bet its different.

Summary: An eerie and hypnotic read!
Review: A thought-provoking book. Eerie and hypnotic in it's weaving of a possible history of mankind. Some facts have been disputed. However, as a whole it does paint a truly believable picture of alien intervention in human history. It will make you think twice about the accepted history of man.

Summary: A voyage into Von Daniken's imagination
Review: Carl Sagan debunked this book more than 15 years ago and, regardless of your opinion of Sagan (I happen to like him), he did a bangup job. This book is a flight of fancy at best; a pack of lies at worst. For example: Von Daniken's picture of a "landing strip" for extraterrestrial spacecraft appears to be an aerial photo of a large area; in truth, the area was not much bigger than a welcome mat. This is an excellent book for teachers wishing to teach their students about critical thinking, pseudo-archaeology and the blurry line between fiction and non-fiction. It is a terrible book for people wishing to learn more about ancient cultures and human accomplishments.
