Summary: Good movie, but...
Review: This movie is pretty good, but Bruce Brown seems to be wanting to keep up with the youth, which doesn't make him seem like he did in the 60's, which was just making movies for himself, no one else. This movie sort of follows the same formula as the first, theres the hunky dark haired guy and the goofy blonde haired guy on a journey across the world to find good surfing. It still holds up, but some of the changes made in the 90's version aren't improvements. The music, for one thing SUCKS!! The first endless summer had cool 60's surf-rock, the second has Warren Millerish lame wannabe hard rock crap that totally doesn't go with the fun spirit of the movie. This endless summer has sound in it, so you can hear the people in it talking, which is okay, but I prefer to hear anything anyone says filtered through Bruce Brown, it's much funnier to hear him explain how suprised Patrick is that a guy surfs but can't swim than to actually hear him say "Oh man!! I can't beleive he can't swim!" And one thing that really didn't do the movie a service was the amount of money Brown had for this one. Sure, he could do new stuff with the camera and go anywhere, but he loses the sprirt of the first. the first movie was just him, the two other guys and his camera, this one I wouldn't be suprised if he had a crew with him.

Summary: Great movie - makes you want to be a surfer.
Review: I am not a surfer, but this is a good movie. Its a documentary of two young surfers who travel the world in search of new surfing spots and the endless summer. Even if you don't surf you will enjoy this movie and you will probably want to learn after watching. Fantastic footage.

Summary: Can you top a classic? Yes, with its sequel!
Review: Brown is back with his camera, capturing the essence of surfing in an hour-and-a-half film. Robert August is back, too, as a surfboard manufacturer and weekend surfer. This time Brown's got two new surfers for the trip, a classic longboarder and a young rip-roaring shortboarder. We also get treated to some great demonstrations of bodysurfing, bodyboarding, parasurfing, and windboarding. We even have a WW-2 vintage Grumman Goose "surfing" the rivers of South America (though it looks more like a crash to me). Fans of the original will enjoy the sequel, though I prefer the clean cut, laid-back style of the sixties surfers rather than the adreneline-junkie style of the modern surfers. Still, its a good treatment of both styles, and the film does a good job of showing all forms of surfing. I especially like the brief history of surfboard design the Brown gives at the beginning of the film. Redwood boards? They must've been quite a load! Along with improvements in surfboard design, this film also benefits from improvements in camera technology. The underwater and low-water shots are fantastic, really getting you in the action. This is a fantastic movie for those rainy days just before Spring.

Summary: This is an awesome movie, that will entertain over and over.
Review: This is one of my favorite movies of all time. The narraration of the movie is great, and the way they can mix comedy with the beauty of the ocean is incredible. This movie would be great for anybody, whether you surf or not.

Summary: Great photography, but the flavor is lost.
Review: The first movie from the early 1960's is a calassic,and gave us a feel of the surfing lifestyle. The dream of a perfict wave with no crowd still sends the surf-mind to heaven. The innocent of early sixties can't be tranlated into the 1990's, and their the film loses the flavor of the time. The photography using all the new techonolgy is breathtaking, but "The Endless Summer" is stlll my choice. I speak from some experence. I surfed the Redondo Beach Breakwater on a huge day back in the early sixties.

Summary: The Perfect Sequel
Review: Robert Weaver follows up the original idea of the endless summer some 30 years later...after the original. There is quite a show of contrast between the "modern" surfer and the "Surfers of old" where styles are concerned, but the original message carried from "Endless Summer" remains... Surfing is not just a sport..or a pastime. It, for some is a way of life, a religion. Great show even if you don't surf..the dialogue and the scenes are great. Fabulous movie. Spend the money..check it out. END

Summary: Great Video for a Cold Sunday
Review: This is a great video to watch even if you don't love surfing. The characters are interesting and funny and the cinematography is incredible. Fantastic shots of this spiritual sport as the surfers trvel from one beautiful locale to another. END

Review: I won't beat a dead horse. Well, maybe I will. Please re-release this film in WIDESCREEN FORMAT, anything less is defeating the purpose.
