Summary: GET YOUR FLABBY BUNS IN THE GYM, ...
Review: Whenever I get bored with working out, I rent "Pumping Iron", the 1976 documentary that introduced the world to the sport of bodybuilding and its Grande Poo-bah Arnold Schwarzenegger. I've seen this movie so many times that I really should buy it. I mean, I've got the darn thing practically memorized!

Basically, the filmmakers shot footage of the competitors for the 1975 Mr. Universe (the amateur competition) and Mr. Olympia (the professional competition). What you see is the dizzing highs, the debilitating lows, and the creamy middles! You get an up close and personal look at the sport itself, its varying philosophies, and what it takes to be a champion.
The filmmakers go from Gold's Gym in Venice, CA to Brooklyn, NY to the island of Sardinia off the Italian peninsula and finally to Pretoria, South Africa to give you the inside scoop! ...

One thing the film does effectively is going in depth an analysing the personalities of the various athletes. Amateur Mike Katz comes across as the most troubled bodybuilder. Still haunted by the memories of being taunted by the other kids at school, he decided to hit the weights (and the horsepills) big time to "show them". It's too bad they didn't film his high school reunion! Can he overcome his demons and his Mr. Universe competitor Ken Waller? Watch and see!

Lou Ferrigno is the most sympathetic bodybuilder. He's a man who overcame his childhood deafness to be a top competitor (and, later, The Incredible Hulk) and he's blessed with an enormous physical presence. However, his dad (a retired NY cop) has decided to take over his training for the Olympia. Does father know best?

Franco Colombo is also pretty cool. He came to the United States from Italy with only his muscles and his dreams of glory. ...

Last--and certainly not least--the most charismatic figure in this film is the defending Mr. Olympia champion, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold was far and away the best bodybuilder in the world in the 1970s, and his ruthless confidence--and wickedly sly sense of humor--makes him a treat to watch. Arnold is ..., but he's incredibly charming. It's easy to see why--with his attitude--he succeeded at bodybuilding and the movie business (and why he *may* succeed at politics if he so chooses). It's truly a study of the mindset of a successful person.

Anyhoo, some of you girly-men may get grossed out by huge, greasy men in posing trunks flexing their massive muscles. All I can say is that steroids were legal in 1975 and that bodybuilding then wasn't the drugged-out freak show that it is now. I find "Pumping Iron" to be endlessly inspirational. In fact, just thinking about it makes me want to train harder! This is a must-buy for any individual who seriously exercises.

Review: If you liked this documentary, you must see STANDTALL featuring Lou Ferrigno.

"Better than Pumping Iron, fantastic, I loved it!" - Joe Gold

"Inspiring from beginning to end" - Rolling Stone

Review: Had Lou Ferrigno not retired in 1975 to pursue an acting career, critics argue that he would have been the most dominate competitor the world had ever seen! Now, nearly twenty years later and 325 pounds, "Big Louie's" unprecedented return to bodybuilding is a story of personal triumph, as he faces his fears and Boyer Coe in the "Mr. Olympia" competition at the age of 43.

Summary: The best sport movie of all times!
Review: I think it's a shame that nobody has released this movie on dvd yet. This is the best documentary about bodybuilding of all times. And Arnold is simply THE bodybuilder.
Hope to see it on dvd soon.

Summary: A Wonderful Body Building Documentary
Review: I managed to get a *NEW* copy of this movie yesterday. Don't expect to watch some awing, breathless, unforgettable, and the best of all Arnold movies. But what you can expect is a nice documentary about how Arnold and other competitors go through the Mr.Olympia Bodybuilding contest. I found it to truly be interesting for a documentary, but also let me say that I am a big Arnold Schwarzenegger fan. I wouldn't say that it worth [money]used, but I would say that if you can get a nice deal(like me), then this is a nice addition to your collection. Arnold throws some of his humor in, and I feel that I learned more about bodybuilding in this movie, than I knew before I turned it on. If anyone here has Cinemax, then right now, the special 25th anniversary edition of Pumping Iron is on cinemax this month. It is a special edition and UNCUT! Get your VCR ready! Some footage in this isn't availabe in the normal version. Go to [website]to find out when it will be on. Remember that the times will be displayed in eastern I think. Good Luck!

Summary: Pumping Iron - Arnold Schwarzenegger
Review: This documentary inspired me to become a bodybuilder and an avid fan of Schwarzenegger's work at a young age. It has been a motivational tool for me and my closest friends whom also work in the health and fitness field. We've enjoyed it time and time again, but unfortunately our VHS tape of it has seen the years and does not have the quality it once did. It is hard to believe that this material has not been released on DVD yet. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. I know for a fact that a lot of people would purchase this and love it. Thank you.

Summary: Legacy of a champion
Review: I was quite amazed by this most extroardanary display of the burning desire to become the best! In watching this documentry Arnold showed me how he became a champion, and how inspiring he has been for so many bodybuilders all over the world, and he has inspired me since i was 13 years old, when I first saw pumping iron. I know that being a body builder takes alot of hard work, and in this documentary it shows all the trials, and tribulations a person must endure in such a quest.
I myself am a bodybuilder, and actor, and i'm trying to follow the footsteps of my idol Arnold Schwarzenegger. There are many parts of this documentary that are facanating to watch, on how each workout regimen is perforemed, and how the personal lives of these bodybuliders progress. This is definitly my most motivating factor in my life to watch, and i reccomend it to all who seek knowledge, and understandng of this great sport.
