Rating: Summary: A biased unrelated chain of events Review: This documentary should have been titled "Liberally Biased Cosnspiracy Theory Featuring A Completely Unrelated Chain of Events". The bulk of this documentary is a bunch of (excuse my crude wording) random crap that leads up to nothing. After you are finished watching this you will literally want to kick yourself.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: This is a great movie about how Bush and his brother worked their corruption-magic in stealing the 2000 election. I'd like to recommend a movie that is more important, though. It is 911 in Plane Site. Check out www.911inplanesite.com. The movie shows suppressed news footage and video evidence that proves the government's "official story" is ludicrous. EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE THIS!!! Please, check it out. Show as many people as possible.
Rating: Summary: A Classic and Compelling Documentary Review: This is first rate work, a very interesting, maddening, saddening, incisive, historic documentary about how America was swindled by electioneering games that one does not want to believe go on. But there it is in this beatifully shot, edited and structured film. This ranks with the best of Frontline, DA Pennebaker, Bowling for Columbine, Hearts and Minds, and the other classic documentaries of the 20th Century. The hard work that went into this film is obvious and it deserves to be seen by all, regardless of political affiliation. The election may be over, but the lessons and warnings of this must not be forgotten. Kudos to the directors and producers. I could not give a higher recommendation. Share it with your friends and colleagues.
Rating: Summary: A Documentary? Review: This is not a documentary, but rather Propoganda. The film is filled with half-truths, stereotypes, and exaggerations. The film, as can be seen from trailer, is a completely one-sided account of the election. However, the producers attempt to pawn this off as a "documentary". It's arguments are compelling, but just as many arguments from the other side of the political house could have been laid out as well...but none were. We hear about Al Gore demanding recounts....but we never hear about him hand-picking only Democratic counties. We hear about racism at the polls, and even get a few "witness" accounts....but we never get any proof. We hear about missing ballots and uncounted ballots...but we never hear from a single person that knows anything about such things. This film belongs in your "documentary" collection...right next to the Loch Ness Monster, the Bermuda Triangle, and Big Foot. Because, there is about as much truth in those "documentary" films as there is in this one. Fortunatly for those films, we don't have an overacting and pandering Danny Glover to deal with.
Rating: Summary: Oh boy... Review: This video NAILED the real election story, the story out there, for those who know how to read beyond headlines, and who learned to ignore TV news outlets, long ago. There were some things it could have gone into, but didn't, but it's a short. One can't expect in depth data from film. It just doesn't happen. Some corrections to Viewer in Midwest: If ANY absentee vote isn't sent on time, then it doesn't count. Period. I don't care if it's from the Almighty himself, or from a soldier. How about some of that personal responsibility that Republicans are always screaming about? As a former airman, I voted in elections in my home state while I lived far, far away. I knew what I needed to do, and the military helped with that process. Still, it is up to YOU to make the arrangements to get the ballot and send it back in a timely fashion, so that it will arrive ON TIME. And you don't bellyache if it doesn't work that way because YOU were too lazy to do it. As for Dems "starting" the craziness of the Y2K elections, of course the party leader would be there if doubts arose about the votes--that's his JOB. The Republicans made this a mess, in more ways than one, when THEY filed their crybaby lawsuits. Odd, since they don't want ordinary citizens filing lawsuits, but that's another point.
Rating: Summary: Good, but one important fact wrong Review: This was a comprehensive and well-done documentary on the events surrounding the installation of George Bush in a judicial coup d'tat. Some things were glossed over and in one case was completely wrong. They claim that Gore made the mistake of wanting only to count the disputed Democratic leaning counties, a charge that has been widely reported, but I have the USA Today newspaper from 11/16/2000, in which the headline of the lead story is: "Bush rejects Gore call for statewide recount", in one inch bold print! Too bad they didn't do the research thoroughly enough.
Rating: Summary: Rule of Law v. Republicans Review: Though I've not seen the video -- I will be buying it -- I paid attention during the election debacle to the degree that I was reading the Florida Elections Laws while the Republicans were falsifying them. An example is the complaint that Gore was "cherry picking" counties for recounts, in effect asserting that doing so was illegal. In fact, the FL Elections Laws expressly stipulate that a candidate -- including Republicans, who did so without talking about it -- can "cherry pick" which counties in which to do recounts. Republicans have spent a great deal of wind secreaming "get over it"! It is rude to dictate to others in effort to silence them and avoid the issue. They also present themselves as morally superior, responsible, adults. And complain about "frivolous law suits," but only concern themselves with the rule of law when to their advantage. The actual law totally undercuts their dodgy effort to claim Bush was elected. During the Founders/Framers era, a presidential election was "tied". One of the two candidates was Thomas Jefferson. He an his opponent, knowing the still-living Framers' intent, took their election dispute to _Congress_ because they knew that the US Constitution places the authority to resolve Federal election disputes exclusively in _Congress_. Usually, the Supreme Court dismisses such as Bush's "case" as being a "non-jusdiciable political question," and tells the complainant, "take it to the legislature". In 2000, however, the Court violated separation of powers three times -- first when it stopped the legal recounts (a first in US history), second when it accepted Bush's _friviolous_ "suit" for adjudication, and the third time when it handed down the _Bush v. Gore_ decision. That decision not only had no legal foundation whatsoever, it was also outside the Constitutional constraints, at minimum because the Court has no Constitutional authority to resolve election disputes. Violating separation of powers is subversion. Subversion is unconstitutional. And it is a long-established principle of law that everything based upon and flowing from an unconstititional act is null-and-void. In short, Bush is not legally president; and every act by him in that role is also unconstitutional, and null-and-void. That, my Republican friends, is the law. It, and your party's putting of its interests above those of We the People and the country, will not be forgot. The cure for that series of crimes -- treason is a crime -- is more than impeachment. Certainly, if a president can be impeached for a non-illegal consenual sexual episode, a president can be not only impeached but also removed and tried and imprisoned (I'm against the death penalty) for launching a concerted and continuing assault -- "levying war" -- on our system of laws and gov't. No amount of screaming or avoiding the issue will change those facts. The obvious question of my Republican friends: when are you going to put the interests of We the People and our country before that of your party and its anti-Constitutional deceits? I'm certain the video deserves a minimum three stars for the patriotism of telling the truth alone. Not yet having seen it I give it that. Joseph J. Nagarya, Legal Professional/Constitutional scholar
Rating: Summary: Republicans stole the 2000 Election! Review: Though the movie is only 40 min. long, it's still great. This movie goes into depth about how Katherine Harris, Clayton Roberts, Jeb Bush and the Republican Supreme Court Justices overthrew the right to vote. It goes into depth about the faulty Felon purge list, confusing punch card ballots, hypocritical Republican statements about manual recounting, and Supreme Injustice! Though i never got the impression of a "Right-wing bias" like the first reviewer, if it was it would be proving Bush played fair wouldn't it? Though some parts had a liberal bias, but then again conservatives stole the elections not lefties. I did not feel that Gore wouldn't of done a better job in office anyways, nor did it seem that he was making the effort to win. He ran Nader attack ads in states he was already going to win in, but none the less he is our president-elect and Bush is in office. I was happy to see Greg Palast in this film; by far he is one of my favorite investigative journalists. I just wonder when people are going to realize that both Democrats and Republicans are no better from each other. If you find that false, just look at Bush's and Gore's policies. THEY WERE THE SAME GUY! Both pro star wars, pro death penalty, pro WTO, Pro drug war and on and on it goes. This is a great film and it just goes to show that American Democracy is losing against the highest bidder and the Republican Party. And to all how says "Who cares? That was 2 years ago!" "Yes, but the presidency is 4 years long, and he cheated at our expense."
Rating: Summary: Unprecedented Review: To some Americans, "patriotism" means "winning" at all costs, by any means necessary, regardless of the reason. To others, it means fighting for the principles that have allowed us to claim that our form of government is more "just" than any in the world. Whichever way you lean, you'll see a fascinating study of how a few strategically placed people can "make" a President despite the will of "the people." It's like watching "The Godfather," except the protagonists are officials who corrupt what the public expects them to protect. There's theft, intimidation, back-room manipulation, deceit in front of TV cameras, stooges parading as "average citizens," conflicts of interest in the highest places, and the absolute arrogance of people with the power to thumb their noses at a system of checks and balances they can rig at will. "Unprecedented" is straightforward. You won't be preached to, as what those on screen say and do (or don't say and do) speaks for itself. You'll be pretty certain about the motives of those who lost but "won" anyway. You'll question what was going on in the heads of those who gave up on victory. You'll wonder what the victims are supposed to do when their government mugs, blindfolds, gags, and tosses them in the river. Maybe the 2000 Presidential election is a "dead horse" to you. "Unprecedented" forces you to consider how you feel about having the horse's head delivered to you wrapped in the American flag, bleeding the mutilated votes of innocent fellow citizens. It is "must" viewing for "patriots" who believe "it couldn't happen here," as well as for those who rejoice that it did.
