Summary: Great for those who love wrestling, Kaufman, or both
Review: Hilarious video offers an insight into the Jerry Lawler/Andy Kaufman feud. See how Lawler sent Kaufman to the hospital for 3 days--for real, not a hoax. See Lawler and Kaufman on the Letterman show going at it--again, it wasn't a staged fight, it was real. See this video and see the lines between fiction and reality blurred.

Summary: Not the same as Comedy Central...
Review: I might be wrong, but I don't think this was the same one they showed on Comedy Central. I seem to remember a lot more tape of "Tony Clifton". Maybe I was watching something else but it was basically the same thing, just seemed like parts had been cut. Still a decent purchase.

Summary: What a wonderful film!
Review: I must have seen this a thousand times on Comedy Central before I finally decided to buy it, but it sure was worth it!

This documentry is great for two reasons. First, you get to see this comedic genius at his absolute best (in my opinion) running wild on the wrestling scene in Memphis. Who knows what ever drove him to get into pro wrestling, but he sure was great while it lasted. Second, you get to see some classic Memphis wrestling clips from a time, which if you're any kind of collector, you know are very scarce. This is absolutely billiant - something I could watch a thousand more times. I'm a huge fan of Andy kaufman and classic pro wrestling both, so for me this is the ultimate package.

However, as I've read in other reviews, I would have to agree that you really have to be a huge fan to enjoy this. I would recommend Man on the Moon to anyone not familiar with his work beyond Taxi.

Summary: CLASSIC ANDY KAUFMAN!!!
Review: I owned this particular title on VHS and I was so excited to see it make it's way to DVD.

I can't think of a better film to show this period in Kaufman's career. The focus of this particular title is his many exploits into the world of Professional Wrestling. It shows you not only the in-ring/on-stage antics, but a lot of the back stage talk as well as comments from those who knew him best.

If you are either an Andy Kaufman fan, or anyone who is interested in the Golden Age of Wrestling... check out this title before it goes out of print again.

Summary: He certainly did have the brains!
Review: I'm From Hollywood is a superb presentation of Kaufman's adventures in pro-wrestling. The Lawler feud is well covered here with Andy's pre-match promo clips and the reactions of Memphis folk being the major highlights. Appearances from best friend Robin Williams and former 'Taxi' co-stars Marilu Henner and Tony Danza throw a serious angle on events with fears for Andy's sanity apparent.

Kaufman's influence on the current bad guys of "sports-entertainment" is huge - check out characters like the snooty William Regal of WWF fame.

The added attraction of this disc is on the flipside - this is a 2 sided disc btw - is the low key/budget improvised film 'My Breakfast With Blassie' starring none other than Kaufman and wrestling legend Mr. "Classy" Freddy Blassie.

'My Breakfast..' is a parody of 'My Dinner With Andre' where wrestling, personal hygiene, pencil necked geeks and women are all discussed... ~What~ a double act these two would have made! Absolutely brilliant! You just CAN'T script this kind of work!

See it.

Also featured on this disc is footage from the premiere of '...Blassie' (Andy's last public appearance? ;)) and an interesting audio feature from the makers of '...Blassie'.
Now where's all the rest of that wrestling footage?!

Any fan of Kaufman &/or "sports-entertainment" should not be without this DVD. Pure Entertainment. Thank you to all involved and a special thank you to Mr. Kaufman and Mr. Blassie for blessing the world with such undiluted talent.

Summary: Andy Kaufman added a new dimention to comedy - Awesome!
Review: Some comedians just want to make you laugh. Not Andy. Andy Kaufman was the only comedian to date who was dedicated to delivering a "whole body" experience to his audience. For those very lucky people who saw Andy on stage, they know what I mean....and we are still able to feel the intense emotions that Andy so carefully brought out in us . Andy had a way of bringing out at series of emotions in you that took over your entire body. Really. First he would make you so embarrassed you wanted to crawl under the table, then suddenly you were smiling, then laughing, then crying, then singing and dancing along to Elvis himself. This video gives you some insight into Andy and his short and bizarre career. Please treat yourself and see it.

Summary: The funniest, most disturbing 60 minutes of video available
Review: This documentary of the late comedian / performance artist Andy Kaufman's pro-wrestling career is, quite simply, the most hilarious and disturbing 60 minutes of video I've ever seen. Despite what you know or what you think you know of his life and art, nothing will prepare you for this excellent, in-depth look into Kaufman's feud with pro-wrestler Jerry Lawler during the early 1980s.

Pushing audience-baiting to a level exceeded only by punk rock icons Iggy Pop and G.G. Allin, Kaufman goes out of his way to personify the ultimate "wrestling villain," instructing Southern wrestling fans with instructions on how to use a bar of soap and shouting "I'm a star!" at people who don't show him the proper respect.

Revealing any more anecdotes would be a grave disservice. Buy this video immediately! END
