Rating: Summary: very interesting Review: i thought the sixties was very moving. i am a favorite of jeremy sisto and even though though his part was small, still enjoyed very much
Rating: Summary: Teaching Tool Review: I use this film in conjunction with teaching a class on Tolerance and History. It holds the students' attention. Their are many composite characters, (such as the Kenny Kline role) which are representative of several personalities of the day. Those of us who were there certainly recognize Mark Rudd, who did not blow up in Greenwich Village. This film takes us through the student protest, civil rights experience, the music of the times, flower-power, riots, and that God-forsaken War. Use it--sit down with your kids and watch it.
Rating: Summary: A Real Eye Opener Review: I was born in 1970 so I missed out on the 60's era. However I feel that after watching the movie I was kinda there. I have been told by several people that it was so very true at parts. I found it very moving & touching in some parts. Plan to by the video very soon so I can watch it again. I think of it as a must see have recommend it to several friends. Plus the soundtrack is an extra bonus of the movie.
Rating: Summary: the best movie ever Review: i'm also a french girl who could watch this movie a few years ago and i really think it's a quite good one. it's the first time a movie shows as well some historical events. i advice everybody to learn about the sixties by this movie.only 3 hours to show most important events of that period. a good way of learning history for students who have problems to remember some dates ot things like that and maybe watch some real pictures of that time!!!
Rating: Summary: Oh, please! Review: I've read the reviews, and everyone seems to have something bad to say about this movie!First of all, sure, the acting wasn't all that great - what do you expect from a made for television movie? Get over it! You're not gonna see major actors in such a small movie. Be glad you got Julia Stiles and Jerry O'Connell! Secondly, there seems to be complaint that the movie didn't cover some of the major things of the sixties. This makes sense to me - why cover the things that everyone knows about? Why not include the things that not everyone knows about? I was born in 1983, and I have always been interested in the sixties, and this movie taught me a lot of things I didn't know. If this movie had covered things like the Beatles and Woodstock just like everything else out there, I would have changed the channel and said forget it. Also, there were comments that there were too many stereotypes - you had the sorta rebellious daughter who got pregnant, the Vietnam veteran who was haunted by the images he saw while in the field, the guy protesting against the war, etc. But did you honestly think that in three hours they could cover all the types of people who lived in the sixties? I don't think so! It would take three days instead of three hours! All in all, I'd have to say that this movie wasn't all that bad - so quit your complaining! If you think this movie was such a bad portrayal of the sixties, then I say get out there and make your own movie! For those of you who want to learn more about the sixties and are tired of hearing all about hippies and Woodstock and other typical things from the sixties, buy this movie.
Rating: Summary: Trancendentally.... lame Review: I've seen a lot of really bad movies that claimed to portray the 1960s, but this film has them all beat for earnestness, cliches and stereotypes. Watching it you get the idea it was written by aliens who did all their research by watching bad 60s sitcoms. Save your money.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining Yet Uneven Review: I've watched the miniseries on VH1 and I truly love it. I think it's a great history lesson and entertaining at that. I wasn't there, so I can't tell you how accurate it is. However, I found Michael to be a bit too modern. For most of the movie, it looked like he had wandered onto the set from Friends. Everytime he was on the screen, all I could think about was how he looked like he was in the wrong decade. Some of the other scenes, like the Woodstock scene, seemed trite and overdone. But overall, I enjoyed the story, the characters and of course, the music!
Rating: Summary: Among the best of its kind Review: If you liked this one, watch "Steal this movie" starring Vincent Donofrio and Janeane Garafaolo. It's about a famous radical named Abbie Hoffmann, who is mentioned many times in this movie, "the 60's." Both of these films are great.
Rating: Summary: I Love This Movie! Review: Jerry O.Connell Is so hot, he made the movie worth watching
