Summary: DVD transfer well done but short on extras
Review: This movie is not just a western great, but an American classic. For a film nearly 40 years old, the DVD has good picture and average sound. The DVD does have some extras, but probably not enough to satisfy the GBU die hards. Even though the DVD has some deleted scences, I was informed not all of the deleted scences were included on the DVD. The DVD is still worth buying because the movie is fantastic.

Summary: CLASSIC WESTERN IN SUPERIOR QUALITY
Review: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, never looked or sounded better than it does now! The trio of Clint Eastwood (the good), the late Lee Van Cleef (the bad), and Eli Wallach (the ugly) are so believable its scary. The best of the spaghetti westerns, it is given new life and new sound on DVD. The picture is brighter and the music more pronounced, check out Tuco's (Wallach) famous scene running thru the cemetary at the end while "Ectasy of Gold" is playing, the music is actually bone chilling. The movie is long (3 hours), however it would have been awesome if the 7 ommitted scenes were inserted in their proper place and not just where you view them seperately. A couple are not very important (extra footage of Tuco goofing with Blondie in the desert, extra dialogue at the bridge scene), but a couple are neat and important (Angel Eyes visits a Confederate camp looking for info, extra dialogue which is funny between Tuco and Blondie on the stage coach before they are captured, etc.) The bonus scenes make this a must-buy DVD for those who have the VHS version. Not perfect, it should be complete with all the scenes a couple of other reviewers mention inserted in their proper place. But, still an outstanding movie with Eli Wallach (Tuco) and his comedy adding an element missing in the first 2 spaghetti westerns!

Review: Wiley ol' Clint never loses! A fun movie to watch. You can't help but feel sorry for (Ugly) Tuco when he has a fight with his brother and lies to Blondie about it. Here's what my wife and I had fun doing with this DVD: go to the famous bridge-blowing scene and watch in slow motion. You can see lots of debris hitting the camera and the actors- one large piece hits a sandbag next to Clint (or stunt double) that would surely have been fatal if taken in the head. Whew, I suspect this was a little more "real" than planned. Not my favorite Clint Eastwood western, but a classic nonetheless.

Summary: The DVD was nicely done for such an old movie
Review: The Transfer was very good; only one small glitch between reels. It was clear and crisp and in letterbox.The sound was Center Speaker only (no surprise due to the age of the movie. The content was excellent. Overall it was very well done. As mentioned elsewhere there are no added bonuses, but the DVD is still well worth purchasing. It is the same quality as the Laser Disc version.

Summary: BEST WESTERN EVER MADE
Review: The best thing about the movie is the score. I wonder why the movie never got any Oscars. In any case, none of Eastwood's other movies ever matched his performance in this one. Leone, an Italian, captured the wild nature of the late 19th centure better than any other American director ever did.

Summary: DVD still uncomplete
Review: The DVD is great but does not feature all scenes which originally belong to the movie but were cut because of the film length. Missing are: The 'Tuco in a cave sequence' (where he hires the 3 banditos), a longer 'Tuco torturing scene', the 'Eastwood in bed with a mexican woman' sequence and a short scene which explains how Angel Eyes got the job in the prison camp.

Summary: Best movie ever made
Review: Ya know, there are several movies in the world, but this has to be the best of all time. This is a film that I could watch several times a day and never lose interest if I had the time. There is something about it that cannot be explained. The scenery is perfect, and Tuco was probably the best character to ever be paired with the man with no name. I think that maybe I like it because Eastwood is not really the GOOD. He is the least evil and slimy of the trio. This was the first DVD that I purchased, and the one that is my player the most often. Check it out, and check out Fistful and For a Few Dollars more. They lead you up to this. Strange point though. Eastwood does not acquire the famous poncho until GBU. Is it first chronologically? You decide

Summary: A Great Movie, Not Just a Western
Review: I watched this movie about 20 years ago and I've seen it a few times since. It never fails to capture my attention. It's not what I consider a true "western" movie such as High Noon or Shane. It is a western in the fact it is dated in the Civil War era. Having said that, it is a great movie of epic proportions. I'm sure that Sergio Leone used all of his budget to make this movie as it is a huge venture with many locations, extras and all the gadgetry available to him. Lee Van Cleef is very good as the "bad guy", Clint Eastwood is good as the "good guy" but, Eli Wallach is outstanding as the "ugly guy". The movie is fast paced from start to finish except for the battle scene which is still gripping. Any movie goer that has seen the last 40 minutes of this movie can not say that they weren't enthralled while watching. From Tuco running through the cemetary accompanied by the outstanding score to the almost chilling 3-way showdown at the end is something that had never been on film before and rarely seen since. People compare this Eastwood movie to a John Wayne movie but, that can't be done. When you have great roles to play, the actors are almost inconsequential. The Duke was one of the great western actors and he would've loved to get this role. One of the best ever made. There is nothing Ugly about this great film.

Review: I fell in love with this movie when I first seen it almost Thirty years ago, I have seen it over 300 times since. THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY has a uniqueness that has never been surpassed and may never be. It is a ONE OF A KIND western with nothing to compare to start a rating from. See it for Your self and I am sure You will agree. You ask to rate this movie, But the rating chart doesnt go to 10. I first seen THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY almost thirty years ago, and fell in ove with it, have seen it over 300 times since. This is a one of a kind western, its uniqueness has not been urpassed and I belive it never will be. Pleas see for your self, I am sure You will agree.

Summary: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the greatest western epic.
Review: I thought I would never like movies like this but after seeing "Fistful of Dollars" and "For a Few Dollars More" I thought "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" would be just as good, I was dead wrong. "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" was the better of the two movies. I think it's the greatest western movie ever made. Long, full of action, lots of shooting sences, and a Civil War makes this a great and powerful movie.
