Summary: satisfying, though doesn't do justice to the originals
Review: Well, I must say this was an improvement over the mediocre Episode 1. It does suffer from certain weaknesses: the dreadful dialogue, a lackluster performance by Hayden Christensen, and a total absence of Darth Maul. However, this flick is fun to watch, which is harder to say for the original. First of all, in this one the human actors seem to triumph over the dry, sterile CGI, while in the original we saw nothing but a showcase of computer-generated nonsense. We see solid performances by the awesome Natalie Portman, and the appearance of Boba and Jango Fett is delightful. It's also great to see Watto, even though he's CGI. And the scene where Yoda fights with a lightsaber is a scene Star Wars fans have awaited since 1977. The story is not weak; indeed, it's the most complex story ever in the Star Wars legacy. One problem, I'd say, is that with all the conspiracies, traitors, Sith lords and trade federation villains, it gets kind of muddled and boring. However, it's a good plot. The scene where Amidala, Anakin and Obi-Wan battle the three beasts was truly awesome--almost as good as the scene in Return of the Jedi when Luke battles the Rancor. Sure, it's a POS compared to episodes 4, 5 and 6, but I think these prequels should be judged on their own merit and not compared to the original masterpieces. It may lack the spirit and majesty of the original, but let's face it! It's a fun movie, and fun in a more dignified way than Troma films are fun. JC, stop being so puritanical about movies!

Summary: Movie was good
Review: While some of the love dialogue was...horrible the movie itself was good. If you think the love lines were corny in this movie, think back to the Leia and Han love lines throughout the original trilogy. Like I said, the movie was good, it had great action scenes, great sound and great graphics. It was just the underlying love plot that brought the movie down.

Summary: What is George Lucas thinking??
Review: It pains me to write this (espcially since I LOVED the original trilogy as a youngster) but this movie was horrible.

The best thing about the movie is that it's SO shallow and unremarkable you'll forget about it as soon as it's over.

Not recommended for anyone over 12.

Actually, not recommended for anyone with a brain.

Summary: Not popular, but still very much Star Wars
Review: Pure fun to me. Say what you will about the acting..I don't think the guy behind these movies intends to have Oscar winning performances. That's never been the case with any SW movie. It's just about good fun - like the old sci-fi serials these movies are based on. Just look at the Yoda battle to see what I'm talking about...

Also notable is the love story - based on old 1930's stuff. For some reason I didn't like these scenes at first, now they're among the best parts for me. I can understand why this would not be popular in today's 'Sex and the city' society...in this regard it doesn't fit in. But it does fit into the feel of SW. There's a sort of midieval, chivalrous, 'knight declaring his love to the princess then getting his ego smashed' kinda thing. Very old fashioned.

The Tatooine segment of this movie is really different from anything I've ever seen in a SW movie. It usually gives me goosebumps whenever I see it. It's so different, it's almost like if it's above the rest of the movie. The darkness, the angst, the sadness...all so well captured. It's the turning point of the saga (if you're watching in chronological order).

This movie though, is more for the fans. It's not a crowd pleaser like X-men 2 or something. If it was a crowd pleaser, the love story would have probably been more modernized, and slow motion used in the action sequences. Thank God the director decided to stick to what is truly a SW movie, even if he had to sacrifice popularity. I like to think of SW as timeless instead of timely.

For the newcomers to Star Wars: I gave it 5 stars - I'm not biased or anything, this is really one of my all-time favourites. Many people will not agree with me (just look at the many bad reviews) - because this film is not a crowd pleaser. So I can't guarantee anyone that they'll enjoy it anywhere near as much as I do. I guess this is one of those films you either love or hate. I like to think that it doesn't fall in between because it's not average - it's a rarity ;)
So if you're a newcomer don't take on any of the reviews, good or bad, just see it for yourself. Try it out. I mean, it's Star Wars. It's definitely worth trying.

Summary: Maybe Episode III will make up for II
Review: Great story, Great special effects, but all were badly executed from the Script to the Direction. It could have been one of the best in the saga.

Summary: Finally, a Star Wars movie that delivers the goods!
Review: I personally was highly dissapointed with the "Phantom Menace" with it's hihg number of plotholes and often messy lines and childish acting coming from some of the cast on the movie. Jar Jar Binks deserves alot of the ridicule that he was bombarded with in the last Star Wars Movie. In fact "Phantom Menace" seemed to be geared more towards the young audience and hardly felt anything like the three classic Star Wars from 1977, 1980, & 1983. The only thing in my opinion that saved it from going down ... for me was the awesome pod-race scene, which I thought was one of the best movie scenes I've ever seen.

"Attack Of The Clones" on the other is a grand improvement over Episode I and brings on a lot more action, and stronger plot than the other prequel and I have say that "Attack Of The Clones" is MORE LIKE IT! This has alot of the good dialogue and intelligence that I thought was mostly absent from Episode I and while this one still has plenty of room for improvement, I have to say that Lucas has managed to correct some of the mistakes of the previous one, especially by giving the brat Jar Jar Binks a much smaller role in this movie than the last and it was wise to do that. I also love the much darker tone of this one compared to the last one. Overall, this movie improves greatly over the last Star Wars movie on almost all fronts but still misses the heights of the original three.

Lucas may have badly misfired on the "Phantom Menace" but he and company have managed to get back on their feet and get back on track with "Attack Of The Clones". This is definately worth owning, even if just for the fun of the action sequences.

Summary: Just bad, bad, bad
Review: Attack of the Clones is a movie perfectly content to be just good enough to make die-hard fans happy. Yoda fights, Anakin duels with two(!) lightsabers, and we get a glimpse of a young Boba Fett and his dad. What sounds like a classic Star Wars film to some, comes off as bad self-parody to most. It feels like an internet Star Wars fan fiction piece.

The plot of this film is centered around the political intrigue of the decaying Republic, as senators and jedi jockey for power behind the scenes. What the filmakers forgot is that this is a prequel and we know who the bad guy is, so all of the mystery around this plot is ruined from the get-go. In between the political intrigues, we get time for a truly insipid love story, acted out by two people who don't even appear to like each other off-screen and have all the charisma of two glaciers rubbing together. I've seen disney movies with more eroticism.

Then we come to Yoda fighting; the "best star wars scene ever" for some was the final nail in the coffin to this series for me. In desperate need to try and create something spectacular for fans to remember, George Lucas took his most beloved character, gutted any sense of the character's identity or personality, and turned Yoda into a video game character. In one short scene we got to see George Lucas' creative vapidity on display for all. Bravo, George.

While the new Star Wars franchise seems content to churn out perfectly mediocore films that appeal only to kids and extremely easy to please fanboys, other film series are actually trying to break new ground, instead of relying on thier name to keep them successful. I'd check those other movies out instead of picking this DVD up.

Summary: Beatiful scenery, but lacks a sense of adventure
Review: Unfortunately it lacked a sense of adventure despite the definite beauty in the advance in digital technology. The high point of movie was (undoubtedly) fight scene of Jedi Master "Yoda" and "Count Dooku".

Summary: OH COME ON PEOPLE!! >>:-O EPISODE II IS AWESOME! :-D)
Review: I am extremely appalled and disgusted at the trashy reviews that I'vee been reading on here as of late. This is a dynamite movie and it didn't disappoint me the slightest! The second chapter in the Star Wars Sage "Attack Of The Clones" is a definite improvement over 1999's "The Phantom Menace" on all fronts, not saying that "Phantom Menace" was bad. Quite the contrary, I thought it was very good but was bogged down by several glaring plot holes and bumbling acting from the cast of that last movie and also how little there was of Darth Maul in that movie. The great action sequences and just plain fun battle scenes though lifted that movie off the ground. It got relatively unfavorable reviews from critics and a lot of movie-goers though but I thought that it was surprisingly great. I thought of it as more of a large bag of popcorn as opposed to an epic masterpiece. I feel like I'm the only one who loves the first three originals "A New Hope", "The Empire Strikes Back", and "Return Of The Jedi" and also the two prequels "Phantom Menace" and "Attack Of The Clones".

"Attack of the Clones" brings the prequel trilogy to darker territory with Anakin Skywalker, now a young man in his early 20s, edging further into the realm of evil but also meets again with now Senator Padme Amidala, ten years after the events of "Phantom Menace". The two eventually start developing a romantic attraction but Amidala is now under threat of assassination from rebel separatist forces lead by Count Dooku and also a special clone army is being built on a mysterious planet that hasn't shown up on a map. The threat is much greater in scale after a failed assassination attempt on Amidala, killed her decoy Corde. The separatist forces are growing stronger and pose an increasing threat to the Republic also. Also, Darth Sideous starts to take up shape with his apprentice, the sinister and vicious Count Dooku. Anakin Skywalker in this movie begins to show the increasing darkness of his heart in this movie and occasionally putting himself at odds with Obi Wan Kenobi over the possibility of his love for Padme being forbidden if he becomes a Jedi. Also the same holds true with Amidala who is threatened with being forced to leave Skywalker if she continues being Senator. The whole conflict between his dreams of being a Jedi and marrying his love of his life Padme Amidala brings this movie into a much more conflicting arena and with the increasing tension in the movie atmosphere, "Attack Of The Clones" is several steps above "Phantom Menace" making this movie a moving near-masterpiece and the warm-up to the possibly cataclysmic events of "Episode III".

I think that almost every actor who played in the last Star Wars movie improve their characters. Jar Jar Binks, like in the last movie, was mostly just extra fodder meant for comic relief, not much else. While I don't hate Binks like most others do, I'm not a big fan of his. Count Dooku I must say is much better than Darth Maul, bringing out much more of an extremely dark-hearted personality where as Darth Maul was somewhat mute in "Phantom Menace". I could only imagine how much greater it would've been had Maul and Count Dooku teamed up against Skywalker and the Jedi! That would've been awesome but oh well. Christopher Lee shows the best example of that you're never too old to kick ...! The battle scenes involving Dooku were actually live, not CGI, the fight scene was actually filmed live well maybe except the lightsabersThat's what makes Dooku so great and Lee one of the best actors of our time. Yoda will also suprises us as well.

The visuals in "Attack Of The Clones" are amazing as usual but more engaging to see than a lot of those from "Phantom Menace". The plot also is better defined than that of the last one as well. I, in no way, am trying to put "Phantom Menace" down like it seems like but just that while that one was great, this one builds upon the foundation that was laid out on that one and also improves upon what was flawed on that one also. Still, "Attack Of The Clones" has it's large share of flaws but in my opinion, nowhere near as numerous or as gaping as those on "The Phantom Menace" The increasing tension in Anakin Skywalker also makes this movie much more compelling than the last one also.

Critics gave this mixed reviews ranging from average, to negatively harsh, and positive but this movie deserves a lot more praise than what it has gotten and doesn't deserve the negative talk that it has suffered from the ratings on here. The same holds true with "Phantom Menace" even with its more numerous and massive flaws. "Attack Of The Clones" was a wild ride for me, one who has enjoyed all three originals for my whole lifetime. Now begins the excruciating two year wait (At the time of writing this review) for the epic finale and the tense climax of seeing Anakin descend into total madness and becomes the fear and infamous Darth Vader in "Episode III"! Lucas was a genius when he did the 1977 through 1983 originals and uses that genius of his mind well with the 1999 and 2002 prequels and will definitely bring more of his extremely creative mind onto the big screen in 2005. "Attack Of The Clones" is a definite must see movie. I'm not ashamed of loving these prequels and am proud to love this and Episode I and will definitely not be disappointed with Episode III. Episodes I & II plus the original three are all must-owns! These negative reviews I have seen with little more than just one line reviews make my blood boil and thus what I say is is do not listen to these garbage reviews and go and buy this dynamite movie. Even if it turns out not being anywhere near as compelling as the original three, it sure will be one hell of a fun ride.

Enough said! Lucas, you are great! Absolutely a winning work of art!

Grade A+

Summary: Unbelievable
Review: And i thought it couldn't get any worse than "The Phantom Menace." Boy, was I wrong! "Attack of the Clones" has to be the most atrocious piece of garbage anyone has ever attempted to pass off as a decent film. While i was watching it, i kept wondering, "Good Lord, how could the venerable Star Wars series sink to such appalling depths of utter idiocy?" I can only pray that George Lucas has finished defiling the Star Wars legacy with this film. In Attack of the Clones, Lucas emphasises Anakin's rebellious streak in the most tactless, overdone way imagineable. I mean, the little brat has to argue and "rebel" about everything, as if the audience would not realise the future Vader's personality unless there were arguments between Kenobi and Anakin in practically every scene. George Lucas, do the the world a favor and refrain from flooding the cinemas with a third installment of this rubbish you call Star Wars.
