Summary: A must see!!!
Review: I'm a huge fan of Michael Moore's work, but this is hands down the most entertaining documentary I've ever seen, words can't adequately describe it.From the just plain funny (Klingons at Carl's Jr.),somewhat disturbing (the woman who seems to be a bit obssesed with Brent Spiner),and there's just something very surreal about a woman in full klingon getup talking seriously to Shatner about his charity work.Just see it,Star Trek fan or not...No,ESPECIALLY if,like me,you're not a fan.The best news is,Trekkies 2 comes out this year,if it's half as good as the first I'll be first in line...

Summary: One Of The Best Documentaries Ever
Review: Awesome! Highly entertaining. Up there with the documentaries by Michael Moore. Star Trek fan or not you will enjoy this. Hard not to. Comical, fascinating, scary and informative. Denise Crosby has a great interviewing style (I still can't believe she was able to keep such a straight face through the whole thing). Would make a great triple feauture with Michael Moore's The Big One and Terry Zwigoff's Crumb.

Summary: Good natured fun
Review: While I'll admit that many of the people in this film are far more fanatical about Star Trek than I am, I must say that I found myself identifying with them at more than one turn. It is the blessing of Trekkies/Trekkers/Spiner Femmes that they are able to love Star Trek but also joke about their own obsessions. I often found myself breathless during this film, but I don't think I would have found it so funny if I didn't see small elements of myself in the people involved. It is my love for Star Trek that allows this movie to find a good natured place with me. I'm sure some people who don't like Star Trek find this enjoyable as a mean spirited form of humor, but to me, and I'm sure for the producers, it is a good natured laugh with the fans of a fantastic show.

Summary: Actually a pretty good movie.
Review: This is actually a pretty informative and entertaining look at Star Trek fans and how they love the shows and movies of Star Trek. Denise Crosby did a good job hosting the film and I wish someone would make a similar film that looks at the fans of Star Wars.

Summary: Funny and interesting
Review: I've fallen away from the Star Trek phenomenon since TNG went off the air, but in many ways this documentary has reinvigorated me in the year 2003. People are fascinating when they relax enough to reveal themselves. Many in this film reveal sides that would make any mother shudder, but these are basically very good people with a quirky passion.

Summary: Move Out of Your Mother's Basement!
Review: Are you f-ing kidding me???!!! Good God, this is some of the funniest footage since "Dancing Outlaw"!!! If you need proof that natural selection is no longer in effect, check this out. Worth every penny. If you are anything like me, you will need to view this on a daily basis for some time after purchasing...

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: If you know anything about the Star Trek 'cult' this video is something which you must watch. Not only are there interviews with those involved in the shows/movies (and some are hilarious), but the fans themselves are just... 'out there'! From the couple who dress their dog up, to the dentist whose office is the Trek theme, to the woman who wore her Star Trek uniform to the Whitewater trials... it's all inside!

Summary: Time To Come Out Of The Closet?
Review: Trekkies is a unique film that Dennis Crosby and director decided to do. Why? Well the fans that surround this TV show are incredible, wide spread, diverse and often in all professional all over the world.

Now, this movie (docudrama really) contains some very unique people who do some very extreme things. They take Star Trek the the edge of the relm of Reality. Image a Starfleet Dental Office on Earth. A Galactic bathroom and the original ast memebers themselves stand in wonderment at the fans over indulgance.

It's interesting and often funny. But you may even get embarrased of some of these people - but remember everyone has a hobby. At least Star Trek promotes peace, brotherhood and the equality of all people, animals and aliens alike.

I think you'll enjoy this - if not, you'll think it very very strange.

Summary: Completely Disturbing
Review: What else can be said- completely disturbing that these folks live a lie. But worth every cent for a good laugh.

Summary: I'm a fan, I'm not a nut
Review: As a long term fan of Star trek, I had heard about this documentary on the trekkies out there.

A DOCUMENTARY WITH ONLY ONE THREAD; STAR TREK FANS
I found this documentary to be a bit jumbled, but entertaining.
It was apparently begun, to document the phenomena, which are the Trekkies. With this in mind, it tries to capture the breadth of the interest. It shows a smattering of what a very large group of people interpret this to be. It is different with each.
Some make it a hobby

Some make it a merchandizing opportunity
Some act out their favorite creatures in fantasy roles.
Some make it a club
Some a way of life.
All get a real kick out of it.
For this reason, there was a greater focus on some of the extreme interests rather than the run of the mill fan. This included a town in Iowa that claims to be Captain Kirk's future birthplace, to a man who had his name changed to William T. Kirk. I can only assume it included the middle name of Tiberius as well.

THERE ARE SOME WEIRD PEOPLE OUT THERE!
Some fans are a strange lot. I can understand the fundamental attraction of the show, as I have watched it since the original series. However, and this is a big however, I don't understand making it a way of life. Hey, all I have is a Bajoran earring and tapes of the movies... Sheesh.

THIS GROUP SPANS GENERATIONS AND AGE GROUPS
There are several people this show focuses on, from a teen who has inherited the family interest and pursues it as a hobby, an intense hobby, a middle age woman that calls herself "Commander", a dentist who's practice is themed in Star trek and a young woman who is a major Data groupie. These are just some of the extremists that this show has fostered. I think this represents more their personal tendencies than anything this series fosters. But this is their focus.

ACTORS ARE FRANKLY BEMUSED BY THE PHENOMENON:
Most of the actors in the Star trek series are mystified by the level of appeal and absolutely floored by how widespread and how many people are caught up in the frenzy.
Interviews with the actors show how much fan mail and interest in the conventions has affected their lives. From overly persistent fans who mail items daily, to those fans at death's door with a last request. One on-going letter was from a near suicidal fan.

MOMENTUM IS NOT DECREASING:
Based on the sales of memorabilia, costumes, fan-fiction, convention frequency (weekly, somewhere in the world) and the auction prices of items associated with the show, this will be around for a long time.

HAS A LIFE OF ITS OWN:
Most noticable during Denise Crosby's interview with fans, this interest is a cult following that has only a little to do with the show. The vision of Gene Roddenberry has a following all its own. The actors are only a small part of it and really for that matter is the show itself. There is enough in reruns to keep this going for a century.

STAND-UP STAR TREK.
The very end of the show has some stand up comedians lampooning Star trek. Very obviously fans, but also very funny. I wish they had more of this in this documentary. One line, I particularly like was. "The theme for star trek, was to go where no one has gone before. Well, they why was someone always there waiting for them then!"

Fans will enjoy this documentary and get a couple of chuckles, others most likely will not.
