Rating: Summary: Hedwig and the Angry Inch Review: Saw it in the theaters 3 times!!! This movie will be a cult classic along the lines of "Rocky Horror Picture Show." The acting is very good. The music is really great even if you are not a huge rock fan.
Rating: Summary: Marvelous!! Review: This is the most amazing movie I have ever seen. After my friend mentioned it a few weeks ago, I comitted the title to memory. Hedwig and the Angry Inch..Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Last Tuesday night, I went online and did an online search on it. Read the summary on the film's official website. I knew that I would love it. By Friday, I had the movie in my hands. And stared at it for at least three minutes, grinning. Then, I came home and watched it. And loved it. And then I watched it six more times. Now I am in Hedwig withdrawal and can almost play the movie in my head, if only I had an hour and a half of free time to let it take over. The music is amazing and Hedwig is lovable or worthy of being adored, at least. The music is fantastic. Ah, I already said that. But it is. The language (the diction?) is also fantastic. The end is probably the best part of all, a most perfect climax to the film. It was MARVELOUS. You must buy it and watch it obsessively..Funny, meaningful (sp..?) and very rock and roll. Wow.
Rating: Summary: New Cult Classic Review: Hedwig is distend to be a new cult classic. This film has it all, a story line that keeps you involved with great twists. And a knock out sound track. This is the new Rocky Horror Picture Show. The more times you see it, the more you see. Go see and sing along. A real rock opera!!
Rating: Summary: i wondered into this movie off the street Review: i was with this girl and we wondered into this movie, i knew absolutely nothing about it, and let me tell ya; wow! talk about great escapism. i can honestly say i didn't think about anything else the whole duration of the film. (...)Plus, the music is extremely infectuous.
Rating: Summary: 980 Happy Miles of Hedwig's Angry Inch Review: The only way this film could have been better is if Hedwig and Yitzak would have watched it with me. Fully in love with the characters after the first viewing, I found myself paying full price to see Hedwig in action eight more times in several different cities. I could not keep away. I finally got over my obsession when I had listened to the cd so many times I knew where the errors were in the Internet lyrics and had the poster hanging in my living room. I have taken so many people with me to see this movie, only to inspire more Hedheads for Halloween. I love Hedwig. S/he's my new hero!
Rating: Summary: Hedwig and the Happy Viewer! Review: If you haven't seen this movie in a cinema, do so before it's too late. Or see it on a gigantic screen. This movie is destined to become some kind of cult classic, but I dont think it will reach that status for some time to come. It's the type of movie that will boom on video and soon after, people will demand it be re-released in the cinemas! Hopefully Anually! The music is Fab, the content is Wow, and the glam is Rock!!
Rating: Summary: Hedwig rocks.... Review: ...but Dr. Frankenfurter will always be my #1 tranvestite. *I just can't help but to compare the two* With a plot like this, I had to see this movie for myself. It was wild and hilarious, but it had it's slow moments. Hedwig puts on a great show and flash back to some of the goofiest dream sequences I've ever seen on film! It's a juicy mixture of Rocky Horror and Tommy. I recommend it highly for the rock opera enthusists.
Rating: Summary: 'HEDWIG' "hed"-tastic! A must see! Review: Probably one of the most flamboyant transfers from "stage to screen" I've seen in a long time, "HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH" leaves those who experiences it smeared with cheap glittery lipstick and enough gender-bending enuendo to boot. John Cameron Mitchell and Steven Trask created the rock star, glitter drag queen punk rock world of Hedwig with so much depth and jocularity that not only is Hedwig fun and entertaining, but thought provoking, nasty, and infectious. We become sympathetic for Hedwig; rooting for her in all her anti-hero rock star best and worst of times. Not only is Hedwig determined to live his/her tragically down and out rock star dream, but discover the missing fabled "other half" that completes him as a person, two beings become one in a portrait of all-encompassing love. "HEDWIG" and Mitchell, who does such a wonderful job directing and playing Hedwig (since he originated the role), are absolutely spellbinding by blatantly inviting you into burn and afterglow of Hedwig's story. Masterfully directed, filmed, scripted, highlighted by blazing moments of shear musical punk rock bliss (the animations are great too!), "HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH" is a gem of art house cinema. When "RENT" hasn't payed yet, and "TOMMY" still can't hear or see you, then rock opera be damned! "HEDWIG" IS HERE!
Rating: Summary: Hedwig and the Barbie doll Crotch Review: "There must be someone up there looking down on all us freaky kids" I thought out loud as I walked from the tiny alleyway theatre after seeing Hedwig for the first time. It's just one of those films, like Velvet Goldmine, (with the startlingly gorgeous Johnothan Rhys Meyers), that makes you want to spend your entire paycheck on everything HEDWIG. The video, the soundtrack, the T-Shirt, the perfume, the book, the fridge magnet, not to mention glitter eyeshadow and mauve tinted sunglasses. And after that, it makes you want to walk down the street crying, it makes you want to scream and laugh and sing - and you should, because very few films will ever breathe the spirit back into you like Hedwig does. It's clever, it sweet, it's heartbreaking. All the cliches apply. Cliches are around for a reason. And that reason is Hedwig. See it, rent it, buy it, but never be content just to hear people rave about it. You have my promise - when you walk out of that theatre, you will never be the same again.
Rating: Summary: Best movie this year...Maybe my favorite movie ever Review: BRILLIANTLY directed. Perfectly acted. Beautiful & kitschy (is that how you spell that). Did i mention the music..AMAZING. Its's a movie that you do not neccessarily love when you're seeing it because of the, at times disturbing nature, but you leave the movie theater a different person. The DVD will have to be brilliant and is #1 on my wishlist.
