Summary: Official Bootleg Edition = Waste of Money
Review: For years now, I have been kicking myself for not having grabbed the Special Edition when it was available. So now I read the description for this new Bootleg Director's Cut, and figure my prayers have been answered... What a joke.

The description says that there are 15 minutes of additional footage including the original ending, and 4 never-before-seen deleted scenes- Yet nowhere is it mentioned that the *real* version is not included. In short, there's no more "Hail to the king, baby!" or "Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun."

Still, the additional footage and original ending were pretty cool, but you could always tell when you were watching the previously deleted material, because the picture quality takes a horrendous dive. Sound quality was also a huge let down. You can't even hear certain lines such as, "Maybe we can pull this off... And maybe I'm a Chinese Jet Pilot!"

One redeeming quality of this version was Sam & Bruce's hilarious commentary, wherein they rip on each other constantly, and give you lots of great background info. Then, in one or two parts, Sam actually mentions that he prefers the way something was done in the regular (non-included) version. How then is this the "Director's Cut"?

In short, you'll still need to buy the regular version of this movie, or else you'll be missing all the best stuff. In other words, I'm *still* kicking myself for not getting the Special Edition.

Summary: The Last Great film in the Great Evil Dead Trilogy.
Review: Ash ( Bruce Campbell) who dealed with the Demons in ED 1 and ED2
has traveled back in Time and must find a way to get back to his own time while he has to deal with more Demons. Entertaining and
very funny film, i don't think this is a Horror movie at all, i think it's more of a Comedy Fantasy. I've own both versions,
one- The regular one with the Nice Ending where he battles the deadite at S-Mart and the other- Director's Cut with not-so-Nice Ending.

Summary: Don't get the Bootleg Edition!!!
Review: I know it's tempting, but don't do it!! The regular editions ending is soooooo much better than the one in the bootleg. I always found this one of the funniest parts of the whole movie. There are two great lines at the end of the movie: The monster in the store asks Ash who the hell he is, and he answers, like James Bond "The Names Ash....Housewares." He then proceeds to shoot the heebiegeebies out of the monster, and the other line I won't ruin. I find this to be the best of the Evil Dead Trilogy, but the second one is not far behind. The regular edition DVD is awesome, and the bootleg just screws it up. Buy the regular, it's worth the extra 5 bucks.

Summary: This Ending Is Way Better
Review: Well this DVD is very good and the ending is much better than the ending in the orignel. why there are 3 reasons why the first is the director Sam Rami him self liked this ending more than in the orignel so you are geting it the way he wanted you to see it. The second reason is the humor in that seen is way better all he wants to do is get home and things keep perventing him from geting there and thats what makes it so funny. We don't know if he is ever going to get back home and the thrid is everybody is mad because the hail to the king line is not in the movie thats a stupid reason its one line one line dose not make a movie but to some people I guess it dose but this ending is way better and anyone who has not seen the bootleg DVD should see it. I was very suprized at the reviews for this bootleg edition they are all mad about the end but the ending in this one is better than the other. So it makes no sense to me even the director himself likes this seen more and he made the trilogy so this is a great movie even better with the bootleg cut and the better ending. Watch it and think about it this ending is great.

Summary: Only thing of its kind worth watching
Review: This movie is really great. Stupid humor, an idiot hero, everything is very over the top. The best thing about this edition, though, is the inclusion of the original ending. I was lucky enough to see the original ending while I was stationed in Korea in 1995 over cable TV we got from Japan or Hong Kong, I forget which channel it was on specifically. Much better than the store ending many people have seen in the American release. The "new but not new" ending allowed for a possible sequel, but we were not so blessed, most likely because of the work Raimi was doing with the Hercules and then Xena thing.
Great film. You will laugh, you will cry, you will never look at chainsaws the same way again.

Summary: This is a true bootleg
Review: This version of Army of Darkness isn't terrible, but if you're not a fan of bootlegs, you probably won't like it. The video quality really drops off in points, and the re-editing is very strange. The entire flow of the movie is changed, for better or worse. Some of the extra scenes are exclusive to this disk, and some of the extra scenes in other disks didn't quite make it here. To put it bluntly, this really is a bootleg, with all the pros and cons that that term entails, but for some reason it has been given distribution rights. It may only appeal to the hardcore fans.

Summary: Not for the casual fan
Review: Why only three stars? Well, if AOD wasn't already such a great movie I would have givin this disc two. The movie runs pretty smoothly until you hit the windmill scene with the "mini Ashes". In this and a few other sequences the picture quality goes straight to hell. It seems like you actually are watching a bootlegged recording! (duh) I have no complaints about the new scenes themselves though. Watching Ash get clobbered by those little fellas cracked me up as always. I was a bit curious to see the alternate ending and that's why I picked this disc up. I myself prefer the theatrical S-Mart ending. It would have been nice if it were included in the extras. I personally wouldn't recommend this disc to the casual Evil Dead fan. So until next time..shop smart. Shop S-Mart!

Summary: these movies get better and better
Review: WOW! What a great movie. I wish I saw this wonderful flick on the big screen. When I first saw it, I needed to see it again. Although this movie is not at all as gory as the first one, it still is a fun movie to watch. I love the fact that the director made Bruce Campbell act by himself. This shows a lot of Campbell'
s talent as a stand alone actor. If you want some middle-aged fun, watch this movie(especially the part when Bruce fights the three little bruces). I give Sam Raimi a pat on the back for this movie and hope to God that they make more.

Summary: Great movie, but not a great DVD.
Review: Ok First off, Let me just say this. I LOVED Army Of Darkness. It was witty, funny, action packed, and a gold mine of great one-liners! However, This "official Bootleg"(an official bootleg, that still cracks me up!) could have been better. First off, Captions. No, I am not deaf, but sometimes I have a hard time understanding what Bruce is saying(mabye I should turn down the Pantera!) So I like to watch movies with the captions on. Also, the commentary was OK at best. But the worst thing about this DVD has got to be the new ending. Now I did like it, but wasn't it just a little depressing? Also, You would think there would be room on here for both endings! The original ending has the BEST one-liner ever!"Hail to the king, baby!" However, on the plus side, the deleted scenes help the movie make more sense. Also, in the movie itself, they have included several parts of deleted footage It is kind of funny, you can tell when they put in new footage. The quality just goes down the [toilet]. But, whatever. Well, I'm done. In my opinion, The movie was good, but I would buy the regular edition of this movie. But, then again, what do I know, right?

Summary: Really surprised by this movie...
Review: I was greatly surprised by this third episode of the Evil Dead
series. It goes one more step further into the Raimi-comedy
horror style. To tell you the truth, I wasn't expecting much
of that movie. And that because Evil Dead II had reached the
perfect level of gore/horror/comedy.

I don't think Army of Darkness is better than Evil Dead II.
It is actually very different, and would be difficult to really
compare. Army of Darkness is really a FUN movie. Gags all over
the place and total laugh from A to Z. Mister Ash is simply
hilarious and funnier than ever, with the great sarcasm that
has grown since Evil Dead II.

I would only repproach that the "gore" side of it is a little
too low (perhaps because Universal is involved, I don't know),
and that the movie itself is too short, but aside of that,
this movie really rocks and provides an action/adventure/comedy
packed supply of entertainment.

Not everybody might like it though. But I guess if you've come
from Evil Dead I, then II, you've felt a comic transition.
Army of Darkness should be for you as well. But don't expect
it to be better than Evil Dead II! It's just very different.

Not many many extras, but interesting stuff like the men behind
the army (a making of kinda of thing). That's the kind of thing
that's always nice. When I bought the first Evil Dead on DVD,
I didn't get the special edition, so there was just the movie,
period. That's a lil short. But here, you have at least some
extras.

Sound-wise, I can't really comment on the 5.1 because I don't
have that equipment but even the stereo alone sounded really
good.

I could talk about it for hours and tell about my favorite parts
but that'd ruin the pleasure to discover it so go ahead...
