Summary: TCM is a very chilling, dark movie
Review: Tcm is supposedly based on the Ed Gein murders in the late 50's. Some which are kind of obdvious: the dressing in human skin, decorating the house with human body parts, cannibalism, necrophilia, and grave-robbing. But it suprisingly original and scary. The part near the end when Leatherface and that other guy are yelling at the old man with the hammer to hit her on the head, saying,"Kill the bitch! Kill the bitch!" was very scary. But Leatherface acts like some sort of mindless slave, doing what everybody tells him to. All in all, a VERY good movie.

Summary: If you like a good scare then this is the movie for you !!
Review: I originally saw TCM back in 1983 before it was banned in Ireland. I went to see a special showing in the Irish Film Centre last week. To my surprise the film still shocked me and it still had its dark, psychotic, chilling atmosphere, especially when the girl falls into the room full of chicken feathers and bones. I knew what was coming up and what to expect but the scene where "Leatherface" puts the girl onto the meat hook was as terrifying as it was to me the first time around. All I can say is it is a very simple movie with very gruesome content, which is intensified due to the fact the film was based on a real life psycopath called Ed Gein. I give it 5 stars for still being able to scare the hell out of me after 16 years ! No other horror film comes close.

Summary: This is the scariest "slasher" movie ever made
Review: Generally, I try to avoid horror movies of the explicit "blood and guts" type. I mean, give me a break: any moron can type up a lousy script, hire some terrible actors and set them loose in the woods with a big ex-football player type cretin in a mask thumping along behind them carrying the sharp implement the 'screenwriter' finds scariest (nobody in these movies is ever killed with a gun, even though the killer would undoubtedly find a submachine would wipe out his teenage enemies in the most efficient manner. Instead, the guy always grabs a butcher knife, an ax, a cleaver, a meat grinder, a food processor, a nail gun, etc.) Well, TCM is the one movie of this genre that I liked! Actually, it's not really a gore movie--the violence is implied, for the most part. This movie gave me nightmares. I had a nightmare that this horrible family of Sawyers moved in next door to me and that I looked through their window and saw skeletons, chickens in birdcages and bone furniture in the living room. I tried to convince my neighbors that these new people were dangerous, but nobody believed me! Then the sun began to go down and I was trapped in their back yard...I only included this story because "TCM" is the ONLY scary movie that terrified me to the point of having nightmares. The most skin-crawling part of the movie actually isn't violent at all. It's the part where Sally and Franklin are sitting by the van, waiting for their friends (who have been killed, unbeknownst to them) to return from the swimming hole. Their panic is growing, as would anyone's, and they are trying to think of a rational explanation for the fact that their friends have disappeared. GOD, that scene was terrifying. This movie isn't for everyone, that's certain--I don't think I would recommend it for anyone who wasn't a scary movie buff. But if you like to be scared, take it from me: I found this movie very frightening, and I'm not a blood-n-guts fan, by any means.

Summary: I saw the movie when I was 5 years old and it scared me
Review: I was at T's house (my mom's friend)and she popped in that movie and the only thing I remember is that it gave me scary dreams and I was afraid to go to sleep at night.Since my parents are divorced, when I told my dad all about it when I was five,he called my mom rotten and said,"How dare she show you that?" In my mind, the only thing I remember of the movie was a chainsaw and a guy and eerie music.

Summary: Great Movie / Lousy Transfer
Review: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the greatest horror classics of all time. It has increased the quality of my nightmares to an unprecedented level. It is a movie that immediately puts the viewer in the position of the victim. (For those who identify with the killers, please remain behind bars). What is so frightening about the film is that if Leatherface sees you, he's going to kill you. If you stop to plead for your life you'll be talking out of both sides of your mouth since your head will be split in two. So why the one star rating? Because the transfer lacks sharpness, almost to the point of looking out of focus. Elite's laserdisc is much better and should be considered the best transfer to date. However, I would like to note that only Cinemax seems to have gotten the death of Kirk and Pam transferred correctly. The detail seen in these interior scenes on the Cinemax tranfer is a real eye opener compared to every other transfer I've ever seen. It may not be what the director intended, but it sure is a transfer that lifts the veil on a wealth of detail unrecognizable in other transfers. Of course Cinemax blew the last reel by having the sound out of synch. Will anybody ever get it 100% correct? I suspect not. In the meantime I'd like to hear Pioneer's excuse for this travesty-of-a-transfer.

Summary: well it isnt the BEST transfer
Review: in the inside booklet it says that the new transfer is even MORE terrifying and shocking and ultra high quality...bulls***..this movie is exactly like the vhs transfer except it is a little itty bitty bit more higher...and plus their is one mistake..when the camera pulls back(after they slice her finger)the moon suddenly appears when the camera stops..the moon is NOT supposed to appear until the fading..but thats the only mistake...the menus are awesome..and the alternite footage etc.is really cool..the trailers are a bit shocking at times but u can deal with it. 3 out of 4 stars

Summary: The most stupid horror movie i have ever seen!
Review: This movie was very retarded... I did not like it at all. It was very very stupid, especialy the way that leatherface acts when that old guy is screamng at him.. Hey if i had a chainsaw and someone treated me like that he would be all chopped up in little tiny pieces. And it was obvious that it was a very very lowbudget movie. And aren't horror movies suppose to be scary? this was more like a comedy.

Summary: A dark, and shocking black comedy exploitation.
Review: Tobe Hooper's debut seminial sickie is a vivid and unrelenting film exploring the sinister underworld of cannibalism and the insanity contained within. This low-budget exploitation piece is a modern masterpiece, successfully exploring the darker side of human consciousness in a brutal and gruesome style.Unlike modern horror-fare this is scary stuff!Dispensing with an extensive plot the movie is a pure adrenalin rush with a pulsing soundtrack and harsh cinemotography. As for being based on Ed gein (the influence behind Hitchcock's masterpiece 'Psycho'), this is certainly not true, however this does not take anyhing away from the film.Banned in the U.K., for it's honest and horrific portrayal of the typical American family turned insane, the movie remains to be a true inspiration and an amazing piece of virtuoso style.Often disputed on issues of the film being re-released, it is unfortunate that as far as chainsaws go with the BBFC, that they just don't cut it!Not only being strikingly original and deeply surrealistic. 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacare'competently spawned three highly-inferior seguels,(most recently 'The Return to the Texas Chainsaw Massacare', ).Audiences have often commented on the fierocity of such films, but what would they be without them! The films strongest and most entertaining points are the frightening slayings of the nauseating American teenagers, which recent shockers such as ;Scream' (though equally as good!) and 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' ( no where near as good!) have failed to effectively address. In short a film which will never win any Academy Awards, and is not exactly everyones's "cup of tea", but who cares Hooper's played his ace, and it's a scream!

Summary: TCM is one of the best movies i"ve ever seen.
Review: TCM is one of the best movies ever made. Not because of the intricate plot, special effects, of blood, but because of the pure insanity. While it is NOT based on a true story , it is still the most horrifying movie I've seen.
