Review: I would give the R-rated version of this movie one star, but the unrated version is one of my favorite movies ever made. The R-rated version destroys the movie to an extent that it probably should not have been made at all. BUY THE UNRATED VERSION! Don't waste your money.

Summary: THIS MOVIE KICKS SOME SERIOUS CHEEK!
Review: First and foremost, bypass BOTH versions of this film that Amazon sells (and most other versions by other large retail online stores). Why? Simple. This is because although even the unrated version for sale here may have you believe that it is TRULY uncut, it isn't (it is till cut by almost ten minutes)! What a crock! To get the FULL Dead Alive experiance (with ALL gore and character development) you must pick up a copy of BRAINDEAD, the film's original New Zealand title, which is COMPLETELY UNCUT! Once you have it, enjoy this unbelievably gory opus! This movie has some serious guts (pun intended)!

Review: This movie is the greatest horror/comdey film ever created! The special effects are INCREDIBLE and so is the acting! I love this film and can't help but watch it over and over. Lionel Cosgrove (played by Timothy Balme) is one of the most memorable characters in this film and any other splatter film I've seen. You are truly missing out if you don't see this film, and extremely unlucky without a copy!

Review: This is THE BEST movie of its kind that I've seen. It blows away the Evil Dead series and Dawn of the Dead. Those movies have a few interesting scenes but are mostly boring. Dead Alive never gets old though. It's very funny, and the special effects are *extremely* well done. This is the only one of the bunch I want to watch again and again.

Review: this is and will always be the coolest,goriest psycho-zombie-comedy i have ever seen. in a small new zealand town,a new breed of animals are biting people and turning them into blood-thirsty zombies. it's dark comedy relates to films such as the new horror ''the blairwitch progect'' and ''sunset blvd. intelligent and funny,but to grotesque,even for horror movie fans. oh,and pity poor balme.he's in a real mess.

Review: This is one of my all time favorite movies but i must warn you. . .if you are going to purchase this movie make sure it is the unrated version. The rated "R" version makes no sense and all of the great moments of the movie are cut out. I must ad that this movie has hundreds of great quotes that you will recite for years to come. Overall it is a bizzare film that should be seen by all.

Summary: One of the worst horror-comedies
Review: You could do a lot better than Dead Alive. I can't believe more people like this film than other good splatter zombie horror-comedies like Re-Animator and The Return of the Living Dead. Dead Alive has very little wit. It wasn't that funny, either. Especially the conclusion. I didn't have a problem with the gore. In fact, I sat through most of the film without a single problem but I couldn't stand the fact that this movie wasn't funny.

Summary: Extreme gore doesn't make a funny movie
Review: Dead Alive is nowhere near the ranks of being the funniest horror-comedy because it falls due to its own graphic and bloody violence. The only inventive scene in the movie was when the priest started fighting the zombies. Other horror-comedies such as Army of Darkness are good because of a lovable hero, a silly plot, and villains that are just as stupid as the hero. Watch Army of Darkness instead.

Summary: I Kick butt For the Lord !
Review: Just wanted to say that here in New Zealand, where this film has its original title 'Braindead' the only versiona vailable is the full, uncut, blood-soaked masterpiece. Those of you unlucky enough to not live in Godzone will miss half the little in-jokes (Buzzy Be for example). And if you want to know what Tim Balme is up to now, he appears in the Auckland based soap opera 'Shortland Street' and a car ad!

Review: OK, what can we say aboutthis film? The second goriest film i have ever seen. It almost makes you sick the first time,and whenever you watch it after that, you almost die of laughter. Do not rent this film, you will not be able to bear to return it. My favortie movie, and it will be yours,too. If you liked it, you would probably like Evil Dead, Meet the Feebles, Bad Taste, and Dawn Of The Dead.
