Summary: SCARED THIS HORROR FAN!
Review: Not many movies scare me (Having loved horror movies since I was about 13) except the Texas Chainsaw series & this one. Especially the part when the guy says "Welcome to Potter's Bluff". His voice just scared the crap out of me.:) Now I should be ashamed! But anyway, it is a really good movie, one I definitely have to get for my collection.

Summary: Not that great
Review: Ok, a decent horror/mystery with some brutal killing, but they concentrated too much on the detective aspect of it. I wanted to see more of the town's people and their side of the story. The ending is kind of easy to predict, and doesn't really save the movie. Check it out if you've seen everything else, otherwise I recommend Blood Diner, Phantasm 2, Return of the Living Dead, and anything from the Night of the Living Dead series.

Summary: Blue Underground should be ashamed
Review: One would expect that if a DVD release is adding not one, but three different audio commentary tracks they would have the decency to make the dialoge available via subtitles or close captioning. They didn't!

It's a "Limited Edition" alright, limited to only the non hearing impaired.

Summary: An underrated classic!
Review: Set in the town of Potter's Bluff where it seems like a nice little town to stay, mysterious murders and graverobbings have occured. A baffled Sherrif with the help of a local Mortician ( Jack Albertson) investigate these bizarre cases, but they figured out that it's caused by corpses that have been brought back to life by voodoo reanimation.

A brilliant, original and startling shocker from Dan O'Bannon ( Writer of "Heavy Metal", "Alien" and " Total Recall"), the gore effects with zombie effects by Stan Winston are quite good especially the infamous needle through the eyeball scene which rivals the splinter scene in "Zombie", good acting, creepy atmosphere, cool zombies, Robert Englund ( a.k.a. Freddy Krueger) and Barry Corbin from Critters 2 co-stars, and a shocking twist in the end.

The DVD is quite excellent in sound quality and picture, the film is fully uncut and uncensored and the extras are out of this world. I recommend this movie to fans of horror and zombie flicks but not for the faint hearted.

Also recommended: Burial Ground, Resident Evil, Dead Heat, From Dusk Till Dawn, Phantasm, Suspiria, Total Recall, Return of the Living Dead, The Serpent and The Rainbow, Re-Animator, City of the Living Dead, Nightmare City, Return of the Living Dead 3, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Stuff, Lifeforce, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, Zombie, House by the Cemetery, and The Beyond.

Summary: "Get out of there! GET OUT OF THERE!"
Review: That's all I kept saying while watching a Dad looking for help in the small town late at night with his wife and kids in the car. I saw this movie several years ago when it first came out. Excellent movie. Realistic town with abnormal events happening. Scary, and not til the end can you find out what or who is behind the mysterious events. Best kept secret movie. Not a well known movie - one of the most underated movies of it's time. 3&1/2 - 4 stars. Great Horror Story

Summary: what zombies?
Review: the front of this box certainly does look scary but it is far from being a zombie film!
people are "re-animated" so to speak and cycled back into town life.
i didnt find much scary about this film. i wanted to see it as a kid but never mustered up the nerve to sneek into the theater so i bought it.
i like gory speacial fx's and stan winston but.....
i found the movie slow and somewhat convaluted. there was not enough gore or horror and figuring out the end was not hard to do.
much of what is being re-released on dvd these days is infact for the die hard fans and this ones for those who are into the cult classics from the past.
if its zombies you want chew on some g.romero or lucio fulci.

Summary: Twisted and Unforgettable
Review: There are classic movies you run into, ones that keep you in suspense for years, that make you want to go back and be surprised again! James Farrentino, and Jack Albertson make you wonder why anyone would want to live in a small town. Murders, "zombies?", and psychos abound, the ending is so twisted you will sit in awe of why you haven't seen this yet!

Summary: Interesting film with good effects for the time...
Review: This film is not for those with a short attention span. Dead and Buried is one of those movies that you enjoy more and more every time you watch it. I bought this film, sight unseen, and really enjoyed it. The film centers around the happenings in a coastal town known as Potters Bluff. The bodies of the recently deceased begin to turn up missing, and it's up to the local sheriff to figure out why it's happening and who's behind it. The dvd offers a TON of features and is worth the price. Watch this in the dark. Suggested for fans of solid storytelling horror films.

Summary: Underrated Movie
Review: This halloween, I've been waxing nostalgic by collecting by collecting a lot of old, little-known horror movies that scared me as a kid. Back in the late 70's/early 80's there really wasn't much out there so viewers who allow a little leeway for the time it was released will find a lot to appreciate in this movie.

Dead and Buried stars James Farentino as Sheriff Dan Gillis who becomes bewildered by a series of bizarre and brutal murders happening to visitors of his small, seaside town. The plot thickens due to the quick dismissal of the murders by Gillis' wife (played by Melody Anderson - anyone remember Flash Gordon?) and soon the sheriff starts to wonder if she is involved somehow. To make matters worse, townspeople start reporting sightings of the murdered long after they've been "dead and buried."

The story is adequate with a number of twists thrown in. Skilled horror buffs may feel let down with the ending, but I think it's due to the fact many other movies have ripped off this plot line since the movie was released. What really separates this movie from the rest is the disturbing methods these people are murdered, with frequent cuts to dozens of people surrounding and photographing the helpless victims. The murders look especially realistic for the time (although, granted a little dated now) due to makeup effects of Stan Winston who has since worked on other "little-known" releases like Predator, Edward Scissorhands, the Jurassic Park series, and the Terminator series.

You'll be lucky to run across a copy of this movie in a video store. Should you buy it? If you're a fan of the genre and movies made in this time period, such as The Funhouse, My Bloody Valentine, or Halloween, then I'd say yes.

Hope the review helped.

Summary: Holds up well
Review: This is an entertaining movie that holds up well with repeated viewing, even though you know the "surprise" ending. I purchased my copy used from a video store that was going out of business, as I could not find it new anywhere at that time. Now, I'll probably wait (and hope) for the DVD, which hopefully will have some additional material. Better than many of the horror movies that rely on naked young women or bloody pig intestines to appear interesting.
