Rating: Summary: Best Movie Review: One of the best movies in the whole world. You have to see it, its a must! No regrets what so ever.
Rating: Summary: Very funny movie! Review: In this movie, there are is a town for each holiday, and the denizens of each town spend all year getting ready for the day when they go out into the world and celebrate their holiday along with the people of the real world. This movie focuses on the antics of Jack Skellington, the ruler of Halloweentown, a.k.a. The Pumpkin King. Anyway, Jack's been feeling a bit depressed lately. He feels as if something's missing from his life. When Jack stumbles onto the doorway that leads to Christmastown, he decides to do Christmas for a year and let Santa Claus(or Sandy Claws, as Jack calls him)take a break. Jack and the other denizens of Halloweentown mean well, but they comically mess up everything up and make toys that are frightening instead of fun. Also, to make matters worse, Jack has Lock, Shock, and Barrel(Halloweentown's three most mischevious citizens)kidnap Santa, they take him to the Boogeyman, the one truly evil resident of Jack's kingdom. After Jack finds out that Boogeyman's got his claws on Santa, it's up to Jack to rescue him.
Rating: Summary: Creepy yet lovely at the same time Review: It is very rare for me to watch a movie more than once. Our video collection isn't what I would call very large because of this attitude. Once again this is a movie my husband adored and so I gave it to him as a gift. Turns out that I really like the movie too and we usually once it once a year either around Christmas or Halloween. The songs get into you head and you find youself singing them for days afterwards. Even though it is animated, I wouldn't let small children watch this, sort the same guidelines I'd use for original "The Wizard of Oz" movie with Judy Garland. For teens and adults it is great fun but small kids might be scared by the antics.
Rating: Summary: demented fun Review: This movie blows away all that you think an animated film could be by bringing in the demented gothic quality which makes it a classic in my collection, me being an accredited spooky kid at my school i flock to this movie and recommend it for anyone who likes the animated death genre. well i think i'll go watch it now. YOU should to
Rating: Summary: This year, Christmas will be OURS! Review: The idea of Halloween trying to annex Christmas is wonderfully unique and played out brilliantly by a cast of unforgettable characters. Most of the film takes place in Halloween Town--a delightfully strange and eerie place inhabited by dozens of bizarre, yet lovable creatures. Most notably the main character, Jack Skelington - The Pumpkin King, who is in charge of the yearly preparations for Halloween. One day, Jack stumbles into Christmas Town, a world much more colorful and cheery than his own. Jack is so enthusiastic about Christmas that he figures why not have the residents of Halloween Town put on Christmas this year? After all, wouldn't scaring little children and delivering gifts like snakes and shrunken heads make Christmas even better? Jack is a sweet skeleton with his heart is in the right place, however...........well, you can imagine. The time and effort taken to create the stop-motion animation in NBC is mind-boggling. I still can't figure out how they created some of the effects. This is one of those films that commands repeat viewing. I've watched the DVD several times and I always see something new that I hadn't caught before. The attention to detail is magnificent. NBC is a little off the beaten path (it's rated PG), however keep in mind that even though Santa Clause ("Sandy Claws") is kidnapped and held hostage, the movie has a happy ending. The DVD picture and sound quality (Dolby Digital and DTS) are absolutely marvelous, and the disk is loaded with tons of wonderful extras.
Rating: Summary: One of the coolest movies of all time Review: If your second guessing this movie, this movie is simply fantastic. It's a must see, you will find yourself feeling for Jack as he goes on his quest for something differnt in his life. The music and songs are addictive. Oogie Boogie is great also....a gambling "Boogie man". One of my favorites.
Rating: Summary: Genius! Review: Truly one of a kind. Tim Burton's best (brilliant) work. Delightful accompanying music score by Danny Elfman.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! - Ahead of its time! Review: I bought this for my son (or that is what I told my wife!). But I enjoy it far more than he does! I most especially like the earlier work "Vincent" that was included. Tim Burton showed real talent early on in his career!
Rating: Summary: THE GREATEST CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE OF ALL TIME Review: "What's This? What's This? There's powder everywhere! What's this? What's this? There's white things in the air! What's this? Oh I can't believe my eyes I must be dreaming, wake up Jack, this isn't fair! What's this!?" Yes, I know the lyrics. Off by heart. This is the greatest movie technically, musically, and in every other aspect. Twisted gothic children's fantasy! I love all of the unique characters (Sally is great! And the Clown with the Tear-away face! "I am the one hiding under your stairs! Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red!" Sorry, I started again). Known the dialogue since I was 7 or 8. BEST MOVIE EVER! A must see for anyone.
Rating: Summary: not for kids!!! Review: you've GOT to be kidding putting this in the 3-6 yr old catagory! my husband and i watched this and called it the "feel bad movie of the year." of course, the animation and scores are very well done, but the adult themes make this a REAL nightmare-inducer for any child that is allowed to watch it.
