Summary: Very good comic adaptation....
Review: This is one of the few good adaptations of a comic to the bigscreen. If you put aside the tragic events of Brandon Lee's death, the movie is not as emotionally charged as the comic is, but it still is a worthy tribute to the comic. The comic verson of Eric is far more complex, dark, and maniacle. I think if Brandon had not died, the movie would not have the cult following that it does. You can not watch the movie without the knowledge of his death affecting how emotional you feel about the Eric Draven character. The themes presented are not new, and have been done better. It is Alex Proyas' vision of a dark and forboding Detroit that helps to make the movie become more than just a real life death odity, and turned it into a movie with lasting images.

Summary: One of the top ten Apocolyptic Dark Fantasies
Review: This movies real strength comes not from the portrail of our hero and his fiancee wrongfully murderd and his subsiquent return from the dead to set the wrong things right (although it is very well done to be sure with strong performances all around). That part of the story is an old theme revisited many times in cinema and in literature. (Again, this is not a weakness and the director Alex Proyas does a wonderful job with it.What made this movie so good (and the next one soooooo bad) was the way the villan was presented. There are scenes where we watch him reflecting on his fathers death and spending quiet moments of intimacy with his half-sister. He is a man of vision (twisted though it might be) and is shown through these insights to be human and with feelings even though those feelings and he himself are warped. With the backdrop of a city and its people in decay it is easy to see how such a man might have evolved. The movie also evokes a strong sense of nostolgic longing and a very powerful emotional connection that the viewer can't help but feel to the story and the characters. Also, the fact that the dialogue is well done (another must see for quotable quotes fans. This movie has lots to go around) and even the minor figures are drawn clearly and stand as distinct characters is a major plus as well. With a FIVE STAR rating there has to be multiple layers at work that work well together. The Crow delivers on all of them.

Summary: an ok movie...
Review: This movie is your average mainstream blockbuster, one of the better ones out there. It would definitely get much less hype if B. Lee didn't pass away. But since we live in a society that praises the dead stars (eg Morrison, Cobain etc) much more then the living ones, the death of an artist is a huge sales booster of his work. The Crow is an enjoyable experience (although the soundtrack gets rather annoying at times) but it's nothing particularly memorable and late Mr. Lee is not a better actor then his father.

Summary: A deserving tribute to Brandon
Review: Trying desparately to not sound like one of the millions of sheep that made this a cult classic, I have realised that I cannot. It is only after seeing this film at the cinemas around 20 times, and then purchasing it on video to see it forever more, that you can truly appreciate just how brilliant this story is. Showing how true love knows no boundaries, not even their tragic deaths can separate Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) from his fiance, Shelley. To avenge hers and his murder, the day before their wedding, Eric must destroy all of the people that cost his life and that of his only love. What follows is a deeply involving movie that sees good pitted against evil in a timeless story of true love winning through. Without trying to appear morbid, I think one of the only reasons that made this movie a mainstream sucess, was the untimely death of Brandon on the set. Unfortunately, if people had bothered to look past the circumstances that brought this film to their attention, they might have realized that this was a brilliant movie, and contains a message that we all should appreciate. Not trying to sound too sappy, or to partially rip off a quote from Jurassic Park 'Love always find a way' The cast perform this tale with great promise of that with some nerturing, could realise great potential. Unfortunately, probably the greatest talent in this film was discovered too late. Posthumously a Lee fan forever...............

Summary: In Brandon's Words: (His Last On-Camera Interview)
Review: "I don't know if I was destined to play this role but I feel very fortunate to be doing so. The Crow in the film, the bird in the film, you could really just look at as a guide, almost a piece of his own personality that guides him back into his life and reminds him who he was, what happened to him. This is a person who's been pushed right to the limits of his ability to cope with what is going on and in a sense is quite mad sometimes; in a sense is completely insane, almost in a sense that you might think of an insane person having voices, more rational voices that try and guide him, more irrational voices that come from a more emotional, more deep-seated place. I think that the crow is that more rational voice. The crow is his guide. The crow helps Eric do what he has to do in a very practical sense. It leads him to the places he has to be, it helps him find the people that he has to find. It's a story about justice for victims. His mission is to find the men that killed him and his fiancee, and kill them. It's a wonderful role, and it really is a role you have to take risks with and it gives you a wonderful opportunity to take those risks because, you tell me how somebody who comes back from the dead is going to behave! And that's one of the wonderful things about this character, it's a real...you can really take the gloves off in playing this part because there are no rules about a person who has come back from the dead is going to behave. And then there's the part of him that is filled with rage toward what was done to him. And one of the things I like best about this movie is the fact that all of those parts of the character are given balance on the screen. He's torn up, he's torn up really badly, emotionally, physically and psychically. I think that the appeal of Eric's mission is that it is avery pure one. He has come back to seek justice. I've done other films that have had violence in them, but I must say I've never done anything where I felt that the violence was as justified as it is in this. There's very little need to worry about compassion. This is justice you know, and I truly feel that it is, and I truly feel that if I were in the same situation, I would do the same thing. He has something that he has to do and he is forced to put aside his own pain long enough to do what he has to do. This film deals with a concept of a balance being struck between good and evil. Because we do not know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. And yet everything happens only a certain number of times, a very small number really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood? An afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it, perhaps four or five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise, perhaps twenty? And yet it all seems limitless (smiles). This is the point of view that this character is coming from in the whole film. Because it has been brought sharply into focus for him how precious each moment of his life is. Summary: THE BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME
Review: Even though this was Brandon Lee's last movie I think it was a good note to go out on. This could of been his best movie he ever made. It puts love, drama, action, and comedy all together brillantly. This movie really makes you think of how every little thing counts in life and not waste it.

Summary: A Mastepiece of Mood
Review: The Crow has virtually no plot, but it is so visually interesting and artistically adept that you'll watch it mesmorized. The movie is shot almost entirely at night, and the dark, gloomy photography is intesnse and atmospheric. The story is bleak (eerily enough, the star died during the production) and violent besides, but the movie is a hayride.

Summary: Awesome
Review: This is my favorite movie of all time it has a mix of Sadness,action and small,very small bits of comedy. Brandon Lee is excellent in The Crow and it was truly tragic when he was accidentally shot by a loaded gun. If you have a problem with this review E-mail me but since this was such a great movie I do not think anyone will have a problem.
