Summary: Fun for Discriminating Minds
Review: These three films regularly appear on "100 All-Time Worst Movies," but the fact is that they're a whole lot of fun. Bride of the Monster and Plan 9 resemble horror and science-fiction films of the 40s and 50s, but they possess an open-ended charm rarely found in those early B-films. Wood is criticized as "inept" when he was really just "out there," in every sense. Glen or Glenda is an assault on right-thinking people everywhere and it is a priceless document of good intentions gone bonkers. These films are worthwhile also because they all feature Bela Lugosi. He is particularly over-the-top in Glen or Glenda and Bride of the Monster, in which he plays a mad scientist gone mad - a neat trick.

Summary: Snips and Snails and Puppy-Dog Tails ...
Review: This film offers a sensitive examination of the dilemmas, fears, and frustrations facing a heterosexual male transvestite on the eve of his marriage. Daniel Davis renders an Oscar-worthy performance in the roles of Glen/Glenda, and Dolores Fuller nicely compliments him as his lovely, intelligent bride-to-be Barbara. The story in brief: after Glen drops his beads to Barbara the couple consult a psychiatrist who suggests love as the most effective remedy for Glen's transvestitism. At film's end Barbara's love has worked miracles: Glen has discarded feathers, furs, and fluff to settle down to a normal colorless life with his wife. (Ah! ... but for how long we wonder? Will Glen indulge his passion for drag when the routines of marriage settle in? Kudos to Bela Lugosi in his demanding role as The Scientist and to 'Tommy' Haynes as Alan, a radiant lad who bravely undergoes painful surgeries in order to alter his sex. Sets and costumes are a credit to the production. A dream episode mid-film contains some questionable bondage footage; the viewer may opt to fast forward without losing any of the story's continuity. I enjoyed this film immensely ... but after playing it over and over at every available opportunity I began to wonder how many of my buddies and male co-workers are wearing nylons and satin undies under their Dickies.

Summary: Arguably worse than the breathtakingly inept "Plan 9."
Review: This is an autobiographical work from a Hollywood semi-outsider, the legendary B-man Edward D. Wood, Jr. This claim supported by the fact that Wood plays a transvestite in the dual role of Glen and Glenda in this hilarious movie. When Wood is trying to make a point, he turns out just making me laugh; the pained look on the transvestite's face as "she" walks by a store front containing ladies' clothes, "Would you believe this man is wearing pink satin undies under his rough exterior clothing, he is.", Wood dramatically looking into the mirror and tearing a wig from his head, the cheesy finale in which Wood's real-life girlfriend strips off her ANGORA sweater and hands it to the boyfriend she just found out was a transvesite (after a few moments of passionate confusion.) Bela Lugosi, in a role far removed from the legendary monster movies of his hey-day, narrates the story in a ridiculous accent. Be-VARE!!! Eddie should have known he was an outsider, and could not make a movie like this fly, as it was one of his first. You have to have fame backing you when you make a ridiculous autobiography. All of this movies faults are the reason why you SHOULD watch it, it's 10 times funnier than most intentionally funny movies out there.

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE OF 1994!!!!
Review: This is for me one of the best biography movie ever made including Martin Landau in the charachter of Bela Lugosi is marvelously great and Johnny Depp as the worst director Edward D. Wood Jr. Johnny Depp is also excellent and often very funny and the director Tim Burton made this movie a must-see.

Summary: ed wood is a cheese dog
Review: this is one of ed woods better films & accually has a consistant(slightly) & meaningful plot. it is heartwarming to watch it & think "gee ed wood made this about himself." the only thing that drags the movie down is that crazy middle scene where bela lagosi keeps moving his eyebrows up & down. ed is a cheese dog!

Man, this video should be free because its worth nothing. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. Save youself and don't get involved in this crap fest. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!

Summary: Holy Wood
Review: this is the real goods on Edward D. Wood, ... , let me just say that if you have ever wanted to have the sincere Ed Wood experience, this is the untainted, most unique viewing experience you will ever have. ... . I would have to say that I believe this is the quintessential Wood piece(...). There is a sense of honesty and sincerity, albeit through a filter of stock footage and zero sensibility, that you wont find in any other Wood piece. OH, don't get me wrong...it's not your garden variety good. Bela Lugosi is frightening(but not "boo" frightening), the sentimental denoument involves a guy, a girl and an angora sweater, there is the devil, and a lot of semi bondage scenes. As the aforementioned Lugosi speaks, stock footage of buffalos run under him. But at the core is a writer/director who is writing what he knows.I DON'T THINK ED WOOD WAS A GENIUS. But if you have heard a lot about him and can only buy one thing to satisfy your curiosity...this really is the place to start.

Summary: Jaw-droppingly stupid!
Review: This movie is bad even by Ed Wood standards! It somewhat borders the line of "so bad it's good" like Plan 9/Grave Robbers from Outer Space and Jail Bait and just so bad it's BAD! Essentially the story of a transvestite and his struggle for acceptance, it's filled with the usual "Edwoodian" trademarks as ham acting, atrocious dialougue (checkout the completely senseless jabbering of Bela Lugosi superimposed over a city street early on in the film. POOL ZE STRING! DANCE! SNAKES SNAILS AND PUUPY DOG TAILS! Whhhaaat???), and scenes that come and go without rhyme or reason. This was his first major feature, so it doesn't all hang together yet, but even fans will have a rough going with this! Good luck and hold on to your noses!

Summary: The Worst of the Worst
Review: Unlike most of Ed Wood's other films, which are so bad they are both hilarious and weirdly entertaining, Glen or Glenda is just plain bad... So incredibly bad that its short running time feels ETERNAL. If you want to know what makes an Ed Wood movie so much fun to watch, pick up a copy of Plan 9 From Outer Space or Bride of the Monster. But give Glen or Glenda a miss.
