Rating: Summary: Outshines original Review: 5 stars only because I know this has been underrated here. Same story as 1: Takes place in one day and again Ice Cube helps a friend out of a jam. What sucks: Ice Cube's dad seems to have more screen time in this one and hes even less amusing than in part one (hard to imagine). I always fast forward through all his parts because he SUCKS. What rules: More characters, all of which are funny! Im talking at least five new characters that bring laughs! Day-Day is 100x funnier than Smokey ever was!! You dont have to be a pothead to enjoy this movie...though it helps of course wink wink
Rating: Summary: 1 time movie!!!! Review: you won't want too see it again after you watch it stupid plot....
Rating: Summary: FUNNY, BUT IT REALLY COULD'VE USED CHRIS TUCKER AGAIN Review: IN THIS SEQUEL TO 1995'S ''FRIDAY'', CRAIG RETURNS TO THIS TIME MOVE TO THE SUBURBS TO HIDE FROM DEEBO, WHO'S JUST RECENTLY ESCAPED FROM JAIL. REALLY MISSES SOME OF THE INTERESTING FACTORS THAT MADE THE ORIGINAL FRIDAY SUCH A GOOD MOVIE, BUT NONETHELESS, IT'S PRETTY FUNNY, BUT IT WOULD'VE BEEN MUCH FUNNIER IF CHRIS TUCKER CHOSE TO COME BACK. NOWHERE NEAR AS FUNNY AS THE FIRST, BUT IT'S FUNNY IN IT'S OWN WAY.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not as good as Friday Review: Alright i liked the movie, i thought it was really funny and ain't it surprisin that there is a white man in the movie that does drugs lol no not really. I thought it was cool that they use mike epps as craigs cuz, cube and epps work well 2gether and that made this movie good. A lot of humor and i couldn't stop laughin the first time i saw it but after a few times it wasn't as funny because i already knew what would happen. I'd watch it 2-3 times but after that it wouldn't really pay 2 buy it
Rating: Summary: not as good as the first. Review: The first friday is one of my favorites , as well as friday after next, the third installment which is even better than the awsome first one. However next friday, is totally different, they are not in the hood anymore, and deebo isnt as nasty as he is in the first one, but this movie is still worth watching.
Rating: Summary: Don't listen to critics, this is BETTER than the 1st Review: This movie is great. I 1st saw it on USA's marathon of Friday movies. I saw the 1st Friday movie, and thought is was alright. It had so funny moments, but a little boring. Next Friday was a hundred times better. Alot more action in this one. The white guy is particularly funny, as are the "Essays" constantly saying "yo holmes". Day-Day is a nice change from Chris Tucker who is funny but gets old. Ice Cube is a pretty good rapper turned actor. Day-Day's girlfriend is funny also. I watched this movie many times and it is funny. I recommend this to everyone over 13.
Rating: Summary: Why? Review: Oh my goodness, why did they have to make this [stuff] and then turn around and make another one. I absolutely detest this movie! First of all no Chris Tucker, second of all it was just a rehash of the same plot as the first one, and third of all it wasn't funny. No Chris Tucker is definetely a bad thing, but I understand that he didn't want to do it again. Ice Cube could have gotten a replacement that was at least remotely close to being as funny as Chris. But he settled for no talent Mike Epps, he's whiny, annoying, not funny at all, and has no chemistry with Ice Cube. You could tell Craig was superior to Day Day, at least with Craig and Smokey they were pretty much equal, Smokey didn't let Craig run all over him. Have you notice that Mike has only been in Ice Cube movies because nobody else wants him (and who would with talents like Chris Tucker, Martin, and Bernie Mac to name a few out there who are actually funny), okay yeah he had a small part in How High, like that movie is real credible. Anyway it might have been better if Cube could have gotten somebody other than Mike Epps to be his sidekick. If I wanted to see the same storyline rehashed from the first, then I would just watch the first movie at least I can see Chris Tucker rather than Mike Epps. Like I before, this one was not funny, I think Kim Whitley and the mexicans got a light chuckle out of me, but other than that I didn't really laugh. Word of advice, if you want to see a classic movie that makes you laugh throughout the whole movie, stick to Friday.
Rating: Summary: An instant classic Review: I thaught that Next Friday was funnier than Friday, but it wasn't as good. It wasn't as good because it wasn't in the hood. Next Friday was a good movie and should have won an oscar for Best Picture.
Rating: Summary: OK, I suppose... Review: This movie isn't as good as its predcessor. But then again, the original set a precedent that would be difficult to beat for ANY comedy, including this one. That said, this is still a VERY hilarious movie that is worth watching for pure entertainment value. The plot is very much a rehash of the original - it's another Friday, and Craig Jones has another set of problems to face. His arch-nemesis, Deebo, has escaped from prison and is after him, so Craig's father decides to hide him out in a suburban area where his Uncle Elroy bought a luxury home after winning the lottery. Craig expects the area to be peaceful - but the opposite turns out to be true. The next-door neighbors are the Joker brothers, a trio of Mexican players with a mean dog named Chico and a bone to pick with Craig and Day-Day. Day-Day's old squeeze, D'Wana is after him for impregnating her, and takes her anger out on his new BMW. Worst of all, Uncle Elroy has spent all of his money on Viagra and now can't pay his taxes, meaning that the house is going to be seized and auctioned off the next day unless Craig and Day-Day can figure out a way to get the money ahead of time. Oh, yeah, and Deebo is hot on Craig's trail and soon to catch up to him. Many people seem to be dissapointed by the fact that Chris Tucker's character, Smokey, who drove the original film as much as Ice Cube himself, is absent from this movie. I was a little dissapointed, but frankly, this movie introduces plenty of hilarious new characters to compensate. For me personally, the shortest Joker brother (Jacob Vargas) really made this film funny with his Mexican stereotype humor, even if his screen time was mostly limited to the last third or so of the film. Day-Day (Mike Epps), Craig's cousin is klutzy, stupid, and sometimes annoying, but somehow manages to hold his own in the film. Uncle Elroy (Don 'DC' Curry) is a bit annoying as well with his rancorous voice, but his cracks about Viagra and his player days are funny. Some more memorable characters include Roach (Justin Pierce), Suga (Kim Whitley), D'Wana (Tamala Jones), and Pinky (Clifton Powell). And of course, John Witherspoon and Tom 'Tiny' Lister reprise their roles as Mr. Jones and Deebo, respectively, and still come off as well as before. Part of the problem with this film is that it isn't as intelligent a movie as Friday. Friday was a comedy that also wasn't afraid to get serious about issues such as narcotics and violence. In a definite nod to the mainstream, Next Friday's humor is more run-of-the-mill - fart jokes, stereotypes (racial and otherwise), and sexual references. This cheapens the feel of the movie, but what works is that some of the jokes really are memorable enough. Whether it's Joker with the 'Aztec Warrior' or Day-Day's problems with D'Wana, this film somehow manages to make me laugh everytime I watch it. Some of the jokes really are THAT good. Some of the jokes are also a little over the top, however (i.e., one instance that had my face twisted involved a subtle reference to a dog ejaculating on Joker late in the film.) Despite its rather tried-and-true set of jokes, some annoying characters, and the absence of Smokey, I can still recommend Friday to comedy-seekers or fans of the original. You may not treasure this movie like you would the original, but it's still top-notch entertainment for your dollar.
Rating: Summary: I didn't like it! Review: I don't know it was okay the first Friday was hilarious. This Friday did not have Chris Tucker in it and that's why I thought it wasn't that good. Usually, sequels aren't that great but it's good to look at the same cast who were back from the original and not a different cast like they do for made for TV movies.
