Review: Trick shows that homosexuals actually have other active organs in addition to their penises. Yes, love, which takes place in the heart, is an issue for homosexuals. Trick shows very clearly how relationships must survive this "everyone has an agenda" world that we live in.

Summary: Trick or Treat?
Review: Reality and gay films don't always mix, but with this charming film the margin between the two narrows. In life we often have to take chances and Gabe (Christian Campbell) realizes that. A chance encounter with a go-go boy starts as only a "trick" but turns out to be more complicated and challenging. Though not totally believable, the film achieves its main goal. And that is "you gotta grab life by the balls, it's they only way you're gonna get the good stuff."

Summary: Sexy, sweet and charming!
Review: I hadn't heard about this flick until I stumbled across the official website last month. And from all the reviews I could browse for, I thought - okay, I couldn't wait for it to be released much later in the UK. So I got it off amazon.com, and however agonizing it was for me to wait 12 days for it to be delivered to my doorstep, it really paid off. I don't remember how many times I watched it since then.

This is one of those witty, romantic comedies that leads you sighing and feeling good at the end of the movie. You've got Gabriel (Christian Campbell) and Mark (JP Pitoc) to pull off that chemistry between them - impressive performance! And also Tori Spelling who reveals her talents as Katherine, Gabe's best friend. All three of them makes this simple movie an idealistic fairy tale. The other characters who were acted out well too had me in stitches.

The central key here, Gabriel's love life, is believable, and because of this, it strikes a truer chord as what we would normally get in rare good romantic comedies. Finally, Trick is a gem and would be a perfect romantic 'date' movie.

Summary: These people know how to make a good romantic comedy...
Review: It's probably the still-pervasive taboo of homosexuality that makes "Trick" sexier and more interesting than a movie about a heterosexual encounter. (Compare it to, say, "Runaway Bride." Yikes!) Even if the writer Jason Schafer creates a situation that makes you feel like he's playing chaperone to the two principal characters, and I, for one, don't care for the drag queen being the spoiler in the story, or for the rebuff of the "Scary Man" (Ricky Ritzel) or of Dino (the funny Jamie Gustis) (It made me feel like the movie was playing favorites; where the really interesting characters were being treated like throwaways.). But I have to admit the people who reviewed this movie and liked it are right. This is a very good romantic comedy. Even given their physical attractiveness, I don't know if Christian Campbell or John Paul Pitoc could be said to have star qualities, but they know how to act. Campbell fits the role of the unassuming Gabriel to a tee. His double-takes are subtle and masterly. His reservedness and inhibitions are pitched at just the right level; in Campbell's hands, Gabriel is an ingratiator. He suppresses his frustration and anger to be polite, so when he fixes his face angrily and cries foul, you feel as if he's endured a lot and that this is a person whose worst habit is that he cares too much about other people. Whenever Gabriel stands to lose his "trick," Campbell manages to convey the feeling that something important to his character is at stake; those looks of desperation and longing and regret--bundled together in a matter of seconds--light up the screen. This must be why Mark becomes more and more intrigued with him as the night of fits and starts progresses. And J. P. Pitoc strikes just the right note of interest and concern and playfulness that helps carry us through the dull spots (Cases in point: the reconciliation of the older male couple; and the late-night tryst in the diner with the uninvited guests).

Since most people regard her performance as a breakthrough, I'll just make my comments about Tori Spelling brief: she should have asked for a few rewrites for her character Katherine. It's Lorri Bagley as Judy, Gabriel's roommate's girlfriend, who reveals a wonderful screen presence. She's also got the best line in the movie, I think: "Oh, you went to a SUNY school?" Considering the two lead actors are straight, it's stunning how convincing they are. And all I can say about Jim Fall and company is, by the time the camera pulls back on that street where Gabriel lives and the chorus swells triumphantly over the gentle expression of rapture at his finally finding love, you come away from "Trick" feeling these people know how to put together one damn good movie romance.

Review: this was a gay movie, but more important than that, it was a everybody movie, this could have been a girl and a guy,and had the same problem. it is really a love story. this movie has it all, its funny, but serious. it shows gay people in a different light, and i was glad . a very good buy to rent or buy

Summary: More than I expected
Review: I am not sure how many times I have watched this film, I just know I like it. There is more to the story than two people that meet and jump in bed. It is a nice story of finding what you are looking for when you aren't really looking. Gives you hope that there really is love out there to be had.

Summary: Pleasantly Surprised
Review: I, like so many others, rented this movie because it was a "gay" movie, not to mention the leads are absolutly stunning. But, I must admit that it surprised me in many ways. Mainly, because I'd never heard of it, I was expecting one of those cheesy, "gay boy" movies with a bad script and even worse acting. I was pleasantly surprised to find a rather intelligent and thought provoking, romantic comedy. I've seen it twice already and plan to purchase it ASAP. Sometimes you've just got to "grab life by the balls!"

Review: This movie is a total embarrassment--for the stars (Tori Spelling in particular), for the director and writer, and, more than anything, for the gay audience that puts up with such junk. Why is it necessary to accept a fifth-rate, stereotypical, white-bread mediocrity like this as representative of a culture that has, in the past, had much more to offer. Do we really want clones like those in this movie to represent us? Save your money; this is garbage.

Review: Yo alquile esta pelicula por que un tio me la recomendo y que sorpresa la que me lleve yo jamas habia oido hablar esta pelicula pero me encanto por su simplicidad y por las magnificas actuaciones,no es la tipica pelicula,pero sin embargo uno se puese identificar con tantas situaciones en ella. Asi que si no las visto mirala! yo por lo pronto pienso comprarmela en DVd ojal hicieran una segunda parte...

Summary: awww it's soooo sweet......
Review: I don't know why I'm bothering to add my voice to the 45+ reviews when the majority are positive. But living in the uk it was worth having my DVD player chipped just for the pleasure of this sweet, funny story. I love the fact that as so often happens on the scene apparent deep guys can be quite shallow and shallow "air heads" so often have hidden depths of sweetness, brains and soul. I loved the film. It's not Mr Ripley but then sometimes ya just want a sweet bit of fun which, as I said, it most definately is. Hugz t'yall.
