You will laugh your sides sore!

Summary: Now THIS is How Comedy is Done, Folks!
Review: As an Ammy customer who also happens to review, I want you to trust me on this: Buy this 1982 comedy because, no matter how old it gets, it's still funny as hell! I first saw this movie when I was 18 and watched it with my niece and brother. You know what? 20 years later, I still love everything about it. Give credit where credit is due--Ron Howard directed one great film, and it's funny. This isn't just a comedy in name; this is the real deal, and you have to purchase a copy for your own library. I don't care if it's DVD or VHS--just go out and get it!

Henry Winkler plays Chuck, the complete antithesis of his cool Fonzie character on Happy Days,a boring and bored, scared-of-his-own shadow morgue worker who lets everybody push him around. His mother is overbearing and his girlfriend is a neurotic pain in the [...]. Still he puts up with it all, and probably doesn't even know he's miserable until his boss makes him work the night shift. Enter Michael Keaton as wild and crazy Bill, an "idea man" whose schemes never work out except one: the idea to turn the morgue into a hook shop at night! The idea is so crazy it actually works...well until Chuck falls for one of the girls, played by a then largely unknown and likable Shelly Long, and some pimps come looking for the action they feel they were cheated out of. Chuck's world will never be the same again, and Bill succeeds in the one thing he promised to do: turn Chuck into a man.

This movie is hilarious and also shows that callgirls are people too. While it helped a few careers like Ron Howard's as a director, Shelly Long and Michael Keaton as actors, it didn't really help Winkler that much. Ironic, since the man is an underrated and far better actor than people give him credit for. I'd be lying, though, if I said Keaton wasn't the main reason for this movie's appeal. He is just a drop-dead riot in every scene he's in. Once again, BUY this movie, but one warning: You may hear "Jumping Jack Flash" in your head for days afterward!

Summary: One of the best comedies of the 80's.
Review: Back in the 80's they still knew how to make good comedies (and movies in general) and this is one of the best made that decade. (Followed closely by: "Stir Crazy", "Nine To Five", "Hanky Panky", "Tootsie" and "Ghostbusters".) The acting is wonderful, the music is good, and the story is funny and moving. Winkler and Keaton are perfect, and I'm actually glad there never was a sequel because there's no way to top this fine film. -And it's letterboxed at last. A commentary track on this otherwise nice looking DVD would've been hilarious and a great idea; how about it, Warner ?.

Review: Even though it's been years since I've seen this movie, I remember how incredibly funny it is. The one scene with Michael Keaton swinging to rescue Henry Winkler about busted my gut. This movie, while not as popular as other Keaton fare, should be a must-have comedy movie!

Summary: Need Help Spotting Costner
Review: First of all, I need to say that this movie is a classic. It's got everything you could want from a plot like it has. Winkler and Keaton are fantastic in their roles. The music is great and just overall a good movie to check out. Now I know people tell me Costner is in the morgue frat party scene but I can't seem to find him. Could someone tell me what part exactly to look at. I didn't think it would be that difficult to spot him but he must only be in the movie for a few seconds. Anyway, if someone could let us know that would be great. So, if you're looking for a classic comedy and havn't seen this, I recommened it.

Shannon Doughtery is a kid in this movie and is one of the girl scouts who attacks Henry in the elevator. Shelly Long, Henry's neighbor in their apartment building, does a good job of being a likeable hooker who falls in love with Henry Winkler. This is a funny movie well worth adding to your video collection!

Summary: An unjustly overlooked comedy
Review: Hilarious yet oddly enough touching comedy about two city morgue attendants on the night shift who decide to surreptitiously turn their place of business into a classy callgirl operation. The pairing of Michael Keaton as a free-wheeling goofball and Henry Winkler as the straight man is marvelous, making me wonder what with their comic chemistry together, why they weren't paired together again after this movie--sort of a then-modern day Laurel and Hardy or Abbott and Costello. Shelley Long turns in a solid performance as the luminous, good-girl prostitute (is that a contradiction, or what?) who breathes romance and life into Winkler's dreary existence. Watch also for Horace Long (I think that's his name) as a scumbag deli delivery man, but by far, despite all the wonderful performances, Keaton is the one who truly steals the show by far and it is no surprise that this is the movie that made him a star!

Review: How can you go wrong with a Ron Howard directed movie? Well, maybe there is a slight possibility, but not with this cast. This is an enormously funny movie with links to Neil Simon and his inimitable, uncanny nack for brining together unlikely characters in all too likely and believable situations. Michael Keaton used this movie as a spring-board, but Henry Winkler (although hilarious in this role) kind of faded away quietly. Shelley Long is terrific, as are the myriad of extras. A definite addition to your collection!
