Summary: Bueller Anyone
Review: Matthew Broderick stars in the title role of this charming John Hughes' comedy. Ferris is the ultimate smart aleck. He has an answer for every question and a solution to every problem. He is extremely popular at school and his parents dote on him. In fact everyone loves him except the high school principal, Mr. Rooney and his sister. The movie takes place over the course of a day when Ferris fakes being sick and he takes a trip to Chicago with his best friend Cameron and his girlfriend Sloan. All the while, Mr. Rooney suspects that Ferris is not sick and cutting school. He fumbles around Ferris' house looking for him while the kids are living it up in the Windy City. The film moves along at a quick pace and all the characters are very likable. One nice trick Mr. Hughes uses is that he has Ferris turn away from situations and address the audience. We feel as if we become a part of the ride. Mr. Broderick is perfect as Ferris. He exudes charm and is quite funny. Alan Ruck (now of Spin City) is funny as the morose Cameron. Mia Sara doesn't have much to work with as Sloan, but she is quite striking. Jeffrey Jones is great as the bumbling Mr. Rooney. Jennifer Grey is a bit annoying as Ferris' sister. Ben Stein (before he became famous as the star of his own game show) has a bit part as a monotone teacher and Charlie Sheen has a cameo as a punk who Ms. Grey falls for. Ferris Bueller is a fun little movie and anyone who was a teenager in the mid 80's will remember it fondly.

Summary: Pardon My French...
Review: This goes to whoever gave a review that gave the film less than four stars. First of all, someone who can't spell the name of the movie (or the word "pleasant", for that matter), has no business calling the movie childish. Second, the movie certainly did not "blow kittens", whatever the hell that means. The film is pure gold, and it is cosistently entertaining right to the end. How anyone could find this movie annoying is beyond me. The cast was certainly not disappointing, and they played their parts very well."Ferris Bueller's Day Off" is a film for anyone who had to endure high school, or anyone who currently is going through the frustrating ordeal.

Summary: My rating is no reflection of the movie
Review: I give this DVD edition 2 stars. One star is for the widescreen presentation. Chances are very few fans of this film has seen it in its original form for some time. The second star is for the enjoyable commentary from director John Hughes. But, in typical Paramount fashion (still bitter from their inital resistance toward the DVD format) this DVD does not come close to honoring this wonderful film! Hughes speaks of many deleted scenes that do not appear. Not so much as a trailer, or even talent files. I am often dissapointed with Paramounts overpriced under featured DVDs - this is no exception. I hope someday this film will recieve the DVD tribute it deserves!

Summary: MY RATING REFERS ONLY TO THE DVD!
Review: This is one of the greatest films of all time. Period. Hillarious, beautifully paced and performances to last for all time. So a movie this wonderful and magical deserves a comparable DVD tribute. But no, this film is owned by Paramount and therefore gets spit unto the public in typical lacklustre Paramount DVD fashion - overpriced and underthought. I give it 2 stars. One is for the widescreen. I doubt many of the film's fans have seen this treasure in its original format - and Hughes a skilled (if underappreciated) director takes advantage of every inch of screen. The other star is for the nice and informative commentary (although I have the suspicion it was lifted off a previous laserdisc.) Paramount has a great distaste for DVD and for many years swore it would never take hold of the format. Obviously its overwhelming popularity has forced them to retract their idiotic position. But, it is not without bitterness - and this DVD (along with the rest of Paramount's pitiful DVD releases) proves it. Hopefully Criterion or someone will get ahold of the rights someday and give this fine movie the treatment it, and its legions of fans deserve.

Summary: One of the funniest high school movies ever created.
Review: I absolutely loved FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF. It's absolutely hillarious! I was laughing so hard while watching this movie that I just could not stop. Matthew Broderick is awesome in this movie. Anyway, FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF is basically about a high school kid named Ferris Bueller - duh - (played by Broderick) who hates going to school. So he's always trying to think of ways to stay home, mostly through pretending to act sick. One day, while he's faking his illness to stay home on a beautiful day, he decides to get his girlfriend out of school and his best friend (who's actually really sick in bed) to come with him and hang out. Well, they end up going on some "wild rides" while skipping school...and the entire day the principal of their school is trying to follow Ferris and get him into trouble! This is one movie that I recommend to everybody, but especially high school kids 'cause it shows you how to have fun when you skip school for the day!

Summary: uuh, umm, uhhhh just a minute, hhaah
Review: I've seen this film several times before, but a friend of mine was nice enough to let me view it on dvd. BUEllER was shot at the aspect ratio of 2.35:1, giving it an elequent appearance. The film is hilarious with no doubt, but most tend to overlook the creative aspect of the film. Nice editing and wonderful dramatic dialogue as well, mainly surfacing from Cameron's character. This truely is John Hughes's masterpeice, never again has he made a film as rich and spontaneous as this. What makes this story so effective is the fact that their's a little bit of Ferris in all of us. He is more of an idea than a character really, and it makes the film even more interesting. John Hughe's commentary is very informative, and it sounds like he enjoys giving it. The dvd looks marvelous, picture is excellent, but one wishes a few more extras made it to the disk. A preview would have been nice. All in all, FERRIS is filled with great laughs thruout, and still remains timeless after fourteen years. HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED!!

Summary: Don't Listen To Stuffy Reviews...Listen To The Customers!
Review: This movie was, of course, one of my favorites as a teen, but, unlike other teen favs of mine, my kids LOVED this movie when they saw it on tv. Sure, they didn't get some of the era-specific jokes and references, but the overall attitude of this movie crosses the generation gap with ease. So, I bought the DVD and my kids were thrilled. Buy it, watch it, love it.

Review: Bueller? Bueller? Ferris is a punk - but we cheer for him. He still comes to mind when I want a day off. It all makes sense really. You have to enjoy the day. This movie has the overall spirit of youth. Go for broke - break the rules. It's a lot of fun.

Summary: Hello Jeanie who's bothering you now
Review: That is my favourite line from this film. What's not to like about this classic comedy. Not an average day off from school however a day in front of the tv would not have made an interesting film. Grace is my favourite character as Ed Rooney's bumbling secretary when she says "Well Ed with your bad knee you shouldn't throw anybody ." It just makes you laugh and will cheer you up no matter what mood you might be in. The attempts to take the miles off the car are funny but the best bits are between the start and the end as there are just too many to name. And even if you aren't impressed with the film having Matthew Broderick as the lead role will ensure a nice view.

Summary: Can a movie get any better?
Review: Ferris Bueller's Day Off in my opinion is one of the greatest comedy films ever made. Not only because the slick aand sly Matthew Broderick starred in it, but because the way you were actually able to feel for the charcters throughout the whole film which was full of jokes. In most comedies they just give you a story, some jokes, make you laugh, and it's over. Not with this. From the opening scene when Ferris is in his bedroom and faking sick, you know that this movie will be a great comedy with a pretty good story. Although the whole movie looking down on it as not as good as an Adam Sandler movie, you will still appreciate this movie for the brilliance of the whole film and the acting. So, in need of a real good movie that won't disappoint you, be sure to catch Ferris Bueller's Day Off. HAPPY VIEWING
