Rating: 3 stars
Summary: A cheap intro to the Dick Van Dyke Show
Review: These three episodes aren't exactly "classic" moments from the great Dick Van Dyke Show, which aired on CBS from 1961-1966. If I'm not mistaken, these episodes are from the second season. "Never Name a Duck" has Dick bringing a pair of baby ducks into his house, causing his wife (Mary Tyler Moore) discomfort and his son extreme happiness. "Bank Book 6565696" has Mary Tyler Moore trying in vain to hide a special savings account from her husband, with hilarious results. "Hustling the Hustler" has Dick in a pool game where he might be in big trouble playing against an infamous hustler. The picture quality is surprisingly great on this dvd, just don't expect ANY special features, not even scene index. The dvd packaging is, in fact, the cheapest I've ever seen (and this is someone who owns over 25 Alpha dvds!). It's nothing more than cardboard & the dvd slides around & is hard to get out, making scratches almost unavoidable. These flaws aside, I'm glad I bought this dvd because it was fun to watch as well as very inexpensive. If you are a serious fan of the Dick Van Dyke Show, however, I recommend you buy the complete seasons which are already available on dvd.
