Summary: Curb Your Enthusiasm with the Larry David
Review: Funny show. But not better than Seinfeld.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It's just... heaven!
Review: Curb Your Enthusiasm is easily one of the funniest shows on cable television, and this first batch of episodes is the perfect example of why it has become as popular as it is.

If you have a neurotic or paranoid friend (and most of us do), then Larry David will instantly remind you of him or her. While the George character in Seinfeld was patterned after Larry David, the funny thing here is that Larry David here is extremely successful from the hit Seinfeld TV show, so you wonder why he worries so much about things that shouldn't even matter! I guess that's what makes this show so funny.

Not only is the first season littered with some of the best episodes (Ted and Mary, Porno Gil, etc.), they also provide some of the greatest quotable lines from Larry and the rest of his supporting cast. Cheryl Hines, who plays Larry's wife, was a stroke of genius in terms of casting (the cold, hard stares she throws in Larry's direction are priceless), and Jeff's wife is a fireball of expletive poetry who could quiet Tony Soprano on his worst day.

The DVD comes with the hour-long special that preceded the actual series, so if you pick this up, be sure to watch that first, since I think that it's referenced a couple times throughout the season, althought that might've happened later in Season 2. You also get an interview between Larry David and Bob Costas, which is pretty uncomfortable at times, but provides for some decent info. Finally, there's a commentary for the first episode, which is pretty funny, but don't expect Criterion-caliber here. Larry talks on this track about as much as Robert DeNiro does on his commentary tracks: very little.

In the end, if you like the show, you've already bought this, but if you're curious about it, and love improvisational acting (like in This is Spinal Tap, Best in Show, or Waiting for Guffman), then you'll likely enjoy this. It's laugh-out-loud funny, painful to watch at times (in a good way), and is a good fix for those who miss the days of Seinfeld's reign on NBC.

Summary: good days and bad days
Review: Have all three seasons, have watched about half the episodes in about two days. That's a lot of L.D., even Cheryl might not be able to take that much at one time. She is a gem, just right, very patient, but not a push-over. Much better wife character than say the one on Everybody Loves Raymond. Cheryl does not hate Larry. She is just delightful, a dream. Some episodes are much better than others, but I have not figured out why yet. They just are. I ff thru the very predictable bits, which are just too tedious. I have now seen every Seinfeld episode about 20 times, so it's nice to have some fresh material. It's a great series, like the way Larry looks, walks, carries himself, his observations.

Summary: Hilarious!! Larry David Rules!!
Review: I m so thankful this Show is out on DvD. I never once watched it on HBO and boy did I miss a lot..This show is one of the funniest shows on TV today..It ranks right up there in my opinion with the best of all time comedy shows..Right next to Seinfield!!

Summary: Intelligent Humor
Review: This is Seinfeld with a little maturity. If you loved Seinfeld's wit...you are going to fall in love with Curb Your Enthusiasm. The characters are more real to me, than the ones in Seinfeld. Less slapstick humor...and more intelligent humor. Larry David is my idol...he is a comic genius. I am actually thinking about buying two sets of these dvds in case they ever go out of production (and my first set breaks) All three seasons are great...I suggest buying all 3 seasons. If you can only buy one season, try season two. It's my favorite season. After watching season two...you will probably be so hooked you will have to get season one and two!!

Summary: Seinfeld's most worthy successor.
Review: It took me a rather long time to check out Curb Your Enthusiasm, but I'm glad I did. It's a lot like a somewhat nastier, R-rated Seinfeld -- humor based upon the "nothing" of everyday life, miscommunications, and unfortunate coincidences. And it usually culminates in humiliating disaster for Larry David, whose personality seems somewhere between George Costanza and Jerry Seinfeld in a bad mood. It also feels somewhat like a British sitcom, and Fawlty Towers in particular.

Also, he has a really good-looking wife. What more do you want?

Summary: Curb Your Enthusiam
Review: This show is absolutely my favorite show right now, I never used to watch TV, I still don't, let's face it, most of the shows are crap, the only haven I have is HBO and this is my favorite show, particularly cause I feel like the Larry David character a lot, I always end up in a mess and I most of the time didn't do anything to deserve it.

The characters are memorable, to say the least, my favorites would be Larry's wife and Richard Louis, this is all of course after Larry himself, but that's just a given. It really is a terrific show, right from the premiere episode, in fact, the premiere episode doesn't even feel like a premiere episode, and, also something else, the show doesn't have a script, I mean it has a basic storyline and directions but that's it and it is really cool to watch the show knowing that the actors are making it up on the spot, it feels more original for me, my favorite episode right now is The Wire but that is all beside the point.

Now here is the thing, it is kind of expensive so what I recommend doing is renting it and then deciding if you want to go ahead and buy it or not.

Hope you like it

Summary: Proof that Seinfeld was the Braun...
Review: and LD was the Brains behind the Seinfeld Comedy Mafia. CYE is so bloody funny, with a little better camerawork ,a network audience and less risque` humor, I think this would have rivaled Seinfeld ( or the the very leat come very very close ). Worth the buy, especially if you're a Jew. ( I thought this sentence was very factual, so please don't accuse me of being anti-semetic! until you have watched the DVD :) Well Done Larry.

Summary: All-Movie Guide Founder
Review: I just have to weigh in on this one. "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is the best new comedy show I have seen for years and I never watched "Seinfield." You do have to watch it a couple of times, just to get over the shock. The first time I saw it, I was very uncomfortable, because it dared to touch on one taboo topic after another, but I found that I laughed a lot and thought about it for days afterward. Is it Ok to talk about these things? You bet! Once I got over my squirming, I was hooked. Those who don't get it now will watch it years from now, and laugh.

Summary: Larry David, The Loveable Yutz
Review: When you watch this show, you can't help but laugh at Larry's crazy antics and hyjinx. People complain about Larry being a schmuck, but isn't that why we watch? Five stars goes to this great show!
