Summary: My nerves! :-)
Review: Pride and Prejudice is my favourite Austen novel, and this is a wonderful adaptation of it. Mrs Bennet is just as I pictured her. (The poor woman and her nerves!) Elizabeth sparkles, and you just know that she and Mr Darcy will be blissfully married. The casting for the whole miniseries was well done. A lot of attention of was paid to the little details, and that's what makes it so much fun to watch. I understood Charlotte Lucas a lot better after watching it, though I still feel sorry for her ending up with such a husband. But as the book said, she knew what she was getting into, and I guess of all the women, she had the best disposition to put up with him. She might even make him less silly! :-)

For the rest of us, may we all have a Mr Darcy of our own..... :-)

Summary: Absolutely wonderful
Review: I am an avid Jane Austen fan, and Pride and Prejudice was the book that got me hooked! This miniseries is absolutely marvelous. While I had been previously hooked to other productions of Pride & Prejudice, watching the miniseries once made me a fan. I now own it and watch it constantly. The characters are very true to life, and represent Jane Austen's description ver closely. It's fun to watch, extremely interesting, and highly recommended even to none Jane Austen fans. This book truly brings to life Jane's classic in a way that no other movie/tv adaptation has been able to before.

Summary: A must see for all Jane Austen fans, young and old.
Review: This movie is the most amazing adaptation I have seen of Pride and Prejudice. It is as true to the story line as an adaptation can be, plus the parts that are not in the book have more then inhanced the movie. This is one adaptation I can without hesitation say that Jane Austen would be proud of. One can not help but feel drawn to the characters in this movie. It is a must see for all Jane Austen fans young and old. Everyone will enjoy it.

Summary: A Superb Adaptation
Review: This production of Pride and Prejudice is, in a word, marvelous. The cast and crew did a wonderful job of completely capturing the spirit of Jane Austen's novel, from the most comedic scenes to the most dramatic moments. Jennifer Ehle gives a command performance as Elizabeth Bennet. She is Elizabeth Bennet in a way that no other actress has been able to accomplish. Colin Firth gives an outstanding performance as Mr. Darcy. Alison Steadman as Mrs. Bennet and David Bamber as Mr. Collins are absolutely hysterical.

This movie is faithful to Jane Austen's original story in almost every aspect. Indeed, much of the dialogue is directly from the novel. The scenery and set designs are excellent. The characters and story leap from the page of the novel and into this movie as though they had been designed for each other, to paraphrase Mr. Collins. The result is a wonderful adaptation of a classic story which any Jane Austen fan would be delighted to own. It is very easy to watch all 4 1/2 hours of this movie over numerous times. Like Austen's novel, there is so much to digest from this movie that it is almost impossible to see everything upon first viewing.

This must be one of the top five film adaptations of any literary classic. The bottom line: if you loved the book, you will adore this movie.

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: On a scale of 1 to 5, this mini-series rates 100. This is marvelous adaptation of Jane Austen's classic love story. Everything about it is Perfectly done; the casting, acting, scenery, music, dancing, etc. Although this mini-series is over 5 hours in length, it is so captivating that it is difficult to not watch the entire series in one sitting. Truly a Masterpiece!

Summary: If cinema had existed in Jane Austen's times...
Review: Even though I confess I have not read any of the works of Jane Austen, I can still appreciate something that is obviously good literature, with incomparable richness of language; and that is here paired in a movie series unlike any other before and for future years to come as well.

Jennifer Ehle in her role of Elizabeth Bennett has all the charm, wit and articulation that is appropriately required, and so does the proud Mr. Darcy, played by whom I consider one of the most good-looking and most eloquent British actors of the day: Colin Firth. When I saw him in "Bridget Jones' Diary" I noticed his gift to play his characters in a silent way, where whether no spoken words may be necessary, his body language speaks volumes. Alison Steadman deserves an award for her performance of the annoying Mrs. Bennett; just as her husband, played by Benjamin Whitrow, makes himself dear to us all in his role as head of a family with the responsibility of having to care for them as both mother and father.

And Pemberley! Well, one can only gasp - just as Elizabeth does, when she sees the old English mansion from the angle of her chariot to find it purely breathtaking.

This is a fine production where not only the great storyline deserves watching but the details of the costumes, the city life, the countryside and, yes, the manners of the time make it worthwhile to watch time and time again. For lovers of language as well as for the romantics at heart, "Pride & Prejudice" will not disappoint.

Summary: FYI-P&P DVD does have subtitles
Review: First of all, this version of Pride and Prejudice is my favorite movie of all time. Colin Firth...what more can I say?

Secondly, in response to those viewers who complain about the lack of subtitles in the DVD, SURPRISE - there is a subtitle option available IF you can adjust the Menu section of your TV set, not VCR or DVD player. Most TV's have the option of turning on closed caption, which pops up at the bottom of the screen. It works, not only for broadcast shows, but for DVD's. You don't have to touch the DVD Menu. Hope this helps you.

Summary: The Best Movie EVER! You Will Love It!!!
Review: I have seen this 6+hour video over and over and never tire of it! Pride and Predjudice is the most beautifully made, romantic, visually and musically rich production ever made (the CD is outstanding.) Colin Firth is dreamy, and Jennifer Ehle is the perfect Lizzie. Observe the comedy in Jane Austin's work-which I did not pick up in the book, with such characters as Mr. Collins, Mr and Mrs Bennet. Titanic, Gone With the Wind, all movies stand second to Pride and Predjudice. I can't say enough about it! Family friendly, my 6 year old and my teen adore this movie, too! Buy it!
