Summary: Its about time Friends came out on DVD
Review: As a huge fan of the show friends I know I have been waiting for these DVD's since the show started. Warner brothers chose some of the funniest episodes to include in this DVD. There are currently two volumes of Friends and this is the first one. This is a great present for any Friends fan as well as anyone who likes comedy. The episodes featured here truly show the talented cast and writers that make Friends what it is today.

Summary: #1 TV Show Deserves It!
Review: Congrats to Friends cast and crew for making it the #1 show of the 2001-2002 season. And who thought any other show woud outbeat it?! It's awesome! Of course it's popularity would produce some dvds, and they started with the Best Of... series to see if they would sell. And they did! Therefore, we now have seasons come out on DVD.

The first Best Of... dvd contains five episodes in their uncut original form.

(1) Pilot. This is actually the first Friend ep I ever saw when I became a fan 3 seasons after the show began. And strangely, I felt liked I'd watch the show forever. I instantly liked every character with their own special quirkiness.

(2) The One with Two Parts - This episode is one of the most touching ones with Ross accepting the fact - although not readily - that he's going to be a father. George Clooney and Noah Wyle spoof their on ER characters when they guest star as two doctors that Rach and Monica make dates with. This one's great with Rach and Monica getting themselves into trouble and trying to get out of it.

(3) The One with All the Poker - This is my 2nd fav Friends ep. The guys invite the girls to play poker, and of course, the girls have no idea to play, until Monica's aunt teaches them the ropes, and it's an all out poker battle.

(4) The One Where Ross Finds Out - Ross finally discovers Rach's love for him, but he and his girlfriend Julie are ready to take the next step in a relationship. Getting a cat. There's a great part where Ross refers the cats to Julie and Rach without Julie really knowing about. And a absolutely bored Monica makes Chandler lose weight, but it begins to "kill" Chandler.

(5) The One with the Prom Video - One of the great flashback eps with fat Monica and bad-nose Rach! The gang sits around to watch an old prom video that Monica has found, only to have it reveal something sweet between Rach and Ross.

This collection of episodes is great. The cast of Friends is awesome and very talented. I love this show! I love this dvd! I love . . . friends.

Summary: Where's the rest?
Review: I have to agree with the guy from Oz! Wait until Warner release the whole lot! I live in the UK, and we can get all the episodes of Friends from seasons 1 to 6 on dvd. Each disc contains 8 episodes! Season 7 is being released in March 2001. I think this disc is a bit of a con! Sorry!

Summary: Best of Friends, Volume 1
Review: I love this DVD! It has five great episodes of everyone's favourite stars, Pheobie, Rachel, Monica, Ross, Joey and Channler. Here is a review of all of the episodes:

1. Pilot --- This is the first ever episode of friends where Rachel runs away from her wedding and lives with Monica.
2. The One With Two Parts --- Ross realises for the first time that he's becoming a dad. He gets really nervous, meanwhile Rachel sprains her ankle, and she goes to the hospital with Monika, but she doesn't have insurance, so they both trade places, and then they go out on dates with the two doctors.
3. The One With All the Poker --- The girls learn how to play poker and they have a big poker tournament.
4. The One Where Ross Finds Out --- Ross finds out that Rachel loves him, and she is jelous of him and his girlfriend Julie because they are getting a cat. Monica is also trying to make Channler lose weight, and he's getting sick of it.
5. The One With The Prom Video --- It's a flashback to high-school days where Monica and Rachel are getting ready for the prom.
PLUS!: Bonus material, and no adverts (commercials)
This is a Friends Fan essential. Buy it now.

Summary: I wish I could, but I don't want to.........
Review: Let me start by stating I don't have this disc. What I do have is every episode from Series 1 - 5 which WB have released in OZ. Now I'm guessing if you've come this far you're a relatively big fan of the series itself. That being the case, take my word for it, there's nothing like owning each episode. The way I look at it, the whole package will be released sooner or later, and this is merely another way for WB to rip off the consumer before finally bending demand. What are you gonna do with this disc when you have every episode later?

There are a couple of cool featurettes too on the international dvd releases.

That said, this is the best sitcom on earth and there is no better way to pass the time whether you are sick and in bed, travelling and using your laptop or just plain in the mood. 5 stars for the series.......0 stars to WB!

Summary: Really the best!!
Review: The first of two volumes, this DVD collects the first top 5 of the top 10 episodes of Friends as rated by the fans. Here are the five episodes in this volume:

1. Pilot (9/22/94). THE very first episode of Friends where we meet the whole gang. Runaway bride Rachel returns to become Monica's roommate.

2. The One With Two Parts (3/2/95). Two-part episode where Ross confronts his anxiety over becoming a dad, Monica and Rachel meet two cute doctors from the ER (guest stars those guys from ER), Joey dates Phoebe's twin Ursula and Ross' monkey causes havoc.

3. The One With All the Poker (2/23/95). A battle of the sexes as the girls challenge the guys to poker.

4. The One Where Ross Finds Out (11/9/95). Rachel admits her feelings for Ross after her jealousy over Julie and Ross' decision to have a cat. Also, Monica works out Chandler to death.

5. The One With The Prom Video (2/1/96). Classic flashback episode to high school. A video of Rachel and Monica getting ready for the Prom is the catalyst to Ross and Rachel's first "get together."

Exclusive DVD features: Cast bios, the Rembrandt's "I'll Be There For You" music video, plus additional footage for each episode. (Honestly, I can't tell the difference...)

Here's my quick rundown:

Good: NO COMMERCIALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The DVD features were solid. The Cast bios were a great and interesting read. The Rembrandt video was pretty cool too. Definitely a plus.

So-so: The additional footage? Me personally, I can't really tell the difference but I guess that makes it a plus.

Bad: Nothing!!!

I like the fact that they released these episodes on DVD. The replay value, like most sitcoms, is awesome. It's just like watching Friends syndicated reruns on your local station but without the commercials and with a better picture. Personally, I think the DVD was a good investment to your DVD collection. Unlike taping your favorite episodes off the air, the DVD won't get "eaten" from constant replay.

Must have for a Friends fan? Not necessarily -- but it definitely won't hurt J

Recommended.
