Summary: wonderful family movie
Review: It is getting harder & harder to find quality TV programs - but the best deserve to be on video, especially for those of us who refuse to have cable! This is a classic - it made me want to read the novel, which I also fell in love with right away. The acting is wonderful, the costumes fantastic, and it is very true to the story.

Summary: Absolutely Perfect. It can't get better than this!
Review: This movie was so perfect. I fell head over heels in love with all the characters. I first read the novel 5 years ago. It was my favorite out of Austen's collection. I loved Mr. Darcy from the first moment he was introduced. The casting for the movie is perfect. Colin Firth is exactly as I picture Darcy. No one could have done it better. I watch my videos over and over again. I saw it on DVD for the first time and must have it. This is a definite must see.

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: I love all the Pride and Prejudice films. But this one wasn't as true to the book as the Elizabeth Garvie/David Rintoul adaptation. They are the perfect actors for the roles. Colin Firth is good, but not great, as is David Rintoul.

Summary: I am from Brazil too!!! And I loved this miniseries
Review: Just wanted to say that I agree with every word the "Viewer from Brazil" wrote. P&P was broadcasted here without any publicity at all. Not even a note. I just found out they were running it here by chance. I had already read the book and I reconized the characters at once! I was amazed! And since then I worship Mr. Firth, he's an extraordinary actor... He is the best Mr. Darcy ever!!

Summary: Our most-watched video ever!
Review: Little remains that can be said about the novel and its adaptation. It is a "must have." A comment about video quality: we are on our third copy of the A&E P&P. The first two sets were VHS format and now a DVD. Contrary to one comment suggesting that the DVD looked like a bad copy of a VHS, side-by-side comparison reveals the reproduction to be no better (or worse) than the tapes. It isn't what you'd see from a newly released major studio film, but it is no worse that your typical PBS/BBC production. Besides, it showcases the triumph of substance over style. Do yourself a favor. Buy it. Even our 10-year-old son asks to see it again and again.

Summary: Outstanding
Review: This is the best adaptation of a Jane Austen Novel I have ever seen. The story follows the novel very well and the characters are believable. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes a romantic comedy. This is definitely worth the time it takes to watch the whole thing. It is like a book you can't put down.

Summary: Great movie!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I simply love this novel by Jane Austen, and very happy to find it on DVD as well. The characters are just like in the book, and BBC have stayes very true to the book. This movie is the best I've ever seen', and will always be my favourite.

Summary: A comment about a review
Review: A reviewer told us about her resentment on the publicity Colin Forth received, suggesting that he became a major star BEFORE this prodution was released. I'd like to tell my impression in that subjet. Jane Austen is not a popular writer in countries where the native language is other than English. I' m from Brazil and I had already heard about Pride and Prejudice BOOK, but I hadn't read it yet. I hadn' t heard anything about that production; I hadn' t heard about the 'darcymania" that hit UK and other countries. I saw this movie by chance. It was broadcasted here, WITHOUT ANY PUBLICITY, by a cable channel. However, when I was seeing the second part of this serie, I was asking myself: "Who is that superb actor?" His face looked a little familiar. Later, I realized I had already seen him in "Valmont" and in "The English Patient", but he didn' t get my attention there. In P&P he got not only my attention, but also, my curiosity, my admiration and so on. Then, I read the book, bougth the tapes. The more I see them, the more I like them. After reading the book, I can' t imagine another Darcy, but Colin Firth. All the cast is very good. Jennifer Ehle was excelent and so the actors who played Mr. Colins, Mrs. Bennet, Miss Bingley and Colonel Fitzwilliam. Well, I suppose I judged Colin Firth in this movie without "prejudice". Very few people have seen this serie in my country and Colin Firth is absolutely unknown here. This year I saw him in "Shakespeare in Love" and I could validate my impression about his talent. He was great as a vilain. It will be better if he was Shakespeare. By the way, I think he is more handsome than both Fiennes.

Summary: The revival of Jane Austen's work is just wonderful
Review: I find it hard to believe Pride and Prejudice was written nearly 200 years ago--the feelings and emotions are so contemporary.

This film features a Constable-correct English countryside--great estates, verdant greenery and grand skies.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Perfect casting, perfect setting, perfect, perfect, perfect!
Review: This is the best movie ever! I was enchanted when I first saw it, and I still am one year later! Colin Firth is the best Mr. Darcy, he makes the character come alive! Jennifer Ehle is the perfect Elizabeth Bennett, and everyone else in the movie was exactly like you'd imagine them to be! It's word for word from the book, so if you haven't seen it, you're missing a lot!
