Summary: Awesome
Review: This is one of the best films I have seen in years. Wonderfully done.

Summary: A favorite
Review: The book was a great commentary on British society, well written and entertaining. This film version of the novel is this as well as a lush epic of the relationship between two people separated by their standing in society but brought together by love in the end.
The casting was fabulous - each character is brilliant in their role. The best and worst of each family member is displayed. A father who loves his family but is careless in taking care of them. A mother who loves her daughters but whose dramatic personality causes endless embarrassments. One serious, beautiful sister, another (Jennifer Ehle) not as serious and not as beautiful, and two younger sisters who are young and silly. Colin Firth is exceptional as Darcy. He is cold, contemptuous and haughty but every now and then we see a look or expression that shows us Darcy's inner character. Jennifer Ehle is also fabulous as she makes Elizabeth fun, intelligent and caring.
I've seen this movie many times on A&E and finally broke down and bought the DVD's. What was fabulous to see were several scenes that didn't make it to air on A&E - it was a great treat!

Summary: An Excellent Adaptation
Review: The BBC adaptation of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" is one of the finest adaptations of any written work I have ever seen. Wherever possible, the original language from the novel was used, which gives the film an authentic aura that adds considerably to its appeal. The casting was quite good, as even minor characters were fleshed out in a believable, entertaining, and true-to-the-book manner. Even the BBC's minor additions to the story (such as Mr. Darcy venting his romantic frustrations in a fencing lesson) are in the spirit of the novel. I have to say that Colin Firth nailed the part of Darcy. I can't imagine anyone having the nerve to play Mr. Darcy again, as his performance is so keenly in tune to the literary character--so enigmatic and aloof yet strangely charismatic--that anyone who makes another attempt will surely be put to shame. I especially love his abrupt entrances and exits, they say so much about Darcy without his having to actually speak. (And oh his eyes! don't get me started...) This is a great movie that I would watch again and again (in fact I do, while simultaneously reading the book. I might add that I'm beginning to talk like them sometimes...:)

Summary: Completely Adorable
Review: This movie I found to follow the book remarkabley. It is a wonderful story of historical romance. It is great for the whole family to sit down and watch together. A true interpretation of Jane Austen's novel and a great movie from A&E.

Summary: Pride and Prejudice
Review: This is my favorite novel ever so I was hesitant to watch a film version of it. It was given to me as a gift and I sat down really late one night to watch just a few minutes of it before going to bed. I was hooked! I could hardly do anything else until I had watched the entire program! There is not much for me to say that is not mentioned in other reviews. I believe the casting was perfect, the locations beautiful and all period details were incredibly accurate. I highly recommend it to anyone discovering Jane Austen for the first time as well as fellow fanatics.

Summary: pride and prejudice
Review: Not as good as Sense and Sensibility; took me awhile to really get into the movie; I truly think I liked the movie because the setting was from a by gone era; a "romantic era" a time when "life was simple but there were so many rules to everything you did"; kind of makes you happy you live in today! I do have to rate it a 5 star just because I am a "sucker" for Victorian type movies!!!

Summary: One of My Favorites
Review: Perfectly cast, wonderfully acted. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books, and this rendition of it is one of my favorite videos.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Faithful, beautifully done, wonderfully acted
Review: I adore this version of P&P, which is faithful to Austen and wonderfully shot. The actors are splendidly cast. For me there can never be another Darcy than Colin Firth, and Jennifer Ehlre was a luminous and spot-on Elizabeth. But the whole cast is superb...Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Colins are brought to life with every fault, every embarrassing excess made vivid and terribly funny. But Firth and Ehrle are the heart of the movie and their chemistry is terrific. Buy it, own it. Your kids will love it. My teenagers watched the whole thing.
