Summary: The incomplete first season
Review: Buyer Beware! The entire first season of the Larry Sanders Show is missing episodes 12 and 13. I tried to contact Sony Pictures about the matter but they ignored my request. The DVD package even lists the missing episodes so it seems to me that Sony is swindling consumers.

Summary: Television at its best
Review: "The Larry Sanders Show" is perhaps the most realistic and funniest television series ever written about show business. In this case, the "business" is producing a late night talk show hosted by the amiable, humorous Larry Sanders, a Johnny Carson-like character deftly portrayed by Garry Shandling. (Shandling is also the creator and frequent writer of this series.)

This classy television series shrewdly examines the behind-the-scenes and in front of the camera workings of a nightly television show. "The Larry Sanders Show" is a compendium of network executives, producers, actors, and agents whose enlarged yet fragile egos often clash with each other. The results are caustic and hilarious.

The gifted ensemble cast which includes Shandling, Rip Torn, Janeane Garofalo, and Jeffrey Tambor deliver the incisive, witty dialogue with ease. The concept and structure of this series is so realistic that you often feel as though you are watching a documentary on "How to" or "How NOT to" grind out a nightly talk show.

"The Larry Sanders Show" is television at its best. Please don't miss it!

Summary: Shandling is a genius -- Release his previous series!
Review: I'm not sure how much I can get away with saying, here. "Larry Sanders" was the diamond which wooed mainstream viewers, but I was already entranced by a more modest gem, his previous series (Here I will name it: "It's Garry Shandling's Show". If you don't see a title in "quotes", it was censored.) That earlier series was often pants-wettingly hilarious, but in such a deliberately-stoopid way, I often wondered if it was a fluke, and Shandling a genuine moron.

"Larry Sanders" proved me -- and the rest of the country -- soundly wrong. This show has been praised by better writers than I. Suffice it to say, this DVD, the one I'm *supposed* to be reviewing, is well worth the price, and rewards repeated viewing. Along with hoping for the release of Shandling's previous show, I will be eagerly awaiting release of "The Larry Sanders Show: The Complete SECOND Season." And so on!

Summary: Just Mad About Larry
Review: Who cares about "extras"? (Hey now, you get a great interview with Garry Shandling!). What we want is Larry. When do we want it? NOW!!! ... and all of it. C'mon guys let it roll!

All I want on my desert island is a DVD player and the full series of Larry Sanders and, while we're at it, all of Curb Your Enthusiam, too. Oh, and how about Dobie Gillis.

Summary: Release the whole series!
Review: Another vote for the release of the entire series. The David Duchovny bits and Ryan O'Neil episode is some of the funniest material in TV history. I bought Season One because I wanted to watch the episodes over and over. The laughs never stop! Sure I wish there was a better video transfer, and especially wished there was more extras, but it noting detracts from the enjoyment of the set. So please, please, please release the rest of the series. I'll buy 'em all the first day of release.

Summary: Please give us more
Review: As others have said, this is one of the funniest shows ever produced. All 13 episodes are included (I believe you just have to arrow down on the episode selection screen to see the last two). A lack of extras is the only complaint that I would have...hopefully they're working on that (and thus causing the delay in releasing season 2).

Summary: "That sign says, Apple sauce"
Review: This is one of the funniest shows ever written. So glad its released on DVD and waiting for more to come. Saw some reviews above knocking sound quality and such. To me, that would be more important for a Movie, but not a show like this. Its pure comedy. The quality is fine. If your a Larry Sanders fan, you'll love this set. If not, you'll love it anyway!! This has to be in the top 10 of best shows ever.

Summary: Please, we NEVER edit 'Hank's Thoughts'!
Review: Who CARES about the DVD transfer? If only 3% of the image got through, blurred and dim, this would still be a comic achievement of the highest order. Artie, Hank and Larry are characters for all time. They're as essential as Jeeves and Bertie, Stan and Ollie, Jim and Sir Humphrey. I've laughed myself SICK over this set and DEARLY wish the rest would be released - I'd buy 'em all RIGHT AWAY! Are you listening, Columbia TriStar HBO? I'll buy TWO COPIES ... and a garden weasel! Just release 'em, PLEASE! And a word about my favourite episode: "Out of the Loop" should be mandatory viewing for everyone in business ... hell, for everyone. Tell me you're the head writer. Tell me.
