Rating: Summary: One of the best! Review: I have all 5 of the seasons on dvd and I think this one is my favorite. It has so many of the most memerable things in it! Two weddings and some triplets, who could ask for more!
Rating: Summary: A comedy? - gotta be joking Review: I have seen reviews that the show was hilarious and gave it a try. I watched about 5 episodes and found that the jokes are not funny at all. Only dull and unoriginal lines, which could have been guessed, therefore making them not funny. Ever wonder how come none of these characters ever have their own stand up show? if someone is not funny at all, s/he doesn't want to make a fool of her/himself trying a stand-up. What happened to America sense of humor? The show is not funny. 2-stars for the story, o-star for the humor. 4-stars for DVD menu: average 2-stars.
Rating: Summary: Amazing!!!! Review: Friends is the best show in the world!!!!!!! The 5th season is really amazing and I just can't get enough!
Rating: Summary: Great Season - Writing Becomes Richer Review: From the 5th season and beyond, Friends started taking more risks. Characters changed (mostly for the better) and the writing became more character driven and richer - not just punch lines. This season of Friends really distributed the comedy for all the actors. There are a few duds (but even they are funny) in this season, but you'll find mostly gems.
Rating: Summary: Still The Best of Friends Review: I know Friends gets reviewed by series on its weaknesses more than its strenghts these days but Series 5 really is one of the show's strongest seasons. I can't condense this into less than 1000 words but watching the plot arc unfold as the Friends find out about Chandler and Monica's burdening relationship after the disastrous and dramatic wedding between Ross and Emily, the series had plenty of fodder for some laffs....from Chandler's fake work laugh to Rachel tormenting herself over her love for Ross as he despairs over a 2nd failed marriage, the Friends give plenty of laughs as well as tears. By now they have become our Friends...we know and love them. Some tremendous classic scenes though....the One Where Everyone Finds Out is still to date my favourite Friends episode with loads of physical comedy as Phoebe tries to outflirt Chandler while Ross talks-up Ugly Naked Guy to get his apartment, it makes this series worthwhile. The 80s flashback is also a hoot for its sheer visual comedy of Rachel's nose, Monica as obese and Ross and Chandler in their Miami Vice outfits. Kudos also to the ball-throwing episode and the inside-out cat....Jennifer Aniston proves her acting prowess beyond a shadow of a doubt....fantastik comic range. Wonderful series. While Sex and the City, Will and Grace for example may now have outshadowed Friends in many ways, this series testfies the wondrousness of Friends and its place int he cult comedies of our era. I have all 9 Series to date on DVD and for one will miss these Friends when they leave us later next year. A series well worth relishing
Rating: Summary: good season! Review: Season 5 is a very good season! The Monica and Chandler storyline was so great, and funny! The other characters don't have very good storylines this season, because my fav. scenes are the ones involving Monica and Chandler! Don't buy if your not a fan of them because each episode except for maybe four are about them!
Rating: Summary: Still good...enjoy it while you can. Review: Unlike a fine wine, "Friends" has not proven to get better with age. As the characters have gotten older, their crazy antics and situations seem less realistic and more immature. Anyone who has watched the show since Season 1 cannot help but watch the current (10th) season and utter the words, "this show sucks now." Indeed, the first several seasons of friends had a magic and an ability to captivate that has not been matched by a television show since (the later seasons of "Friends" included"). By Season 5, "Friends" was approaching a serious lack of creativity. To remedy this, the writers drastically changed the personalities of the characters, made the situations more outlandish, and turned the focus of the show -- we know longer laughed with the characters, we laughed at them. That being said, the fifth season was the last real good season before the show got...for lack of a better word, stupid. The Chandler and Monica relationship is weak and feels forced, particularly if you know the character dynamic of the two from the first four seasons. In essence, they would NEVER be compatible, and the characters were altered to make their relationship work. Still, it provides some funny moments amidst a cloud ridiculousness. The real gem of this season was the interaction between the three men as Chandler and Joey try to help Ross get through the aftermath of his botched wedding. There are plenty of laughs on Season 5, but there are also more moments than any previous season where you begin to question the brilliance of the show. Buy this dvd, watch it and rewatch it. It holds up well when compared to the first four seasons. However, pass on any subsequent seasons. You can tell on season 5, the writers were REACHING. After season 5, it's quite obvious they are STRETCHING, if that makes any sense!
