Summary: great set, but what about the other episodes?
Review: i bought this collection of ab fab a while ago, it's really good and all and the bonus disc is good, but i'm wondering what happened to the other ab fab episodes that aren't on the disc? ie) when saffi get's married and edina ruins it, and when edina has the dolphin in her room? the collection is worth every cent though

Summary: Absolutely Fabulous is just that - Absolutely Fabulous
Review: The original series is just too darn funny. I remember watching the original series while at university. Having a chance to own these 3 seasons is a gift. I watch some of my favorite episodes over and over. Eddy and Patsy are extremely funny. If you have never seen this show I totally recommend it. I couldnt stop watching it, the laughter became addictive.

Summary: Give in to temptation... okay, I'll say sweetie here...
Review: I have to admit, I held out on purchasing this for a long time b/c I thought it wasn't going to be worth the money. I mean, let's face it, it's a wee bit pricey & if you're like me, you have seen them all many times over on Comedy Central. However, I gave in to temptation one day & finally bought it...& I couldn't be happier!

First off, it's got all the episodes from the first 3 original series (not counting the 4th series that was just aired in 2001, but that's available seperately & I recommend you pick that up too!). This 4-disc set contains each series compiled on its own disc with extra features, as well as a disc of bonus material. Series 1: Fashion; Fat; France; Iso Tank; Birthday; & Magazine. Series 2: Hospital; Death; Morocco; New Best Friend; Poor; & Birth. Series 3: Doorhandle; Happy New Year; Sex; Jealousy; Fear; & The End. Each of these discs includes 15 minutes of hilarious outtakes- they are really great. It also contains still photo galleries set to music, as well as trailers for other BBC DVDs & BBC America commercials. But the outtakes really make it worthwhile.

The bonus disc includes the "How To Be Ab Fab" documentary that was shown on Comedy Central many times, as well as a compliation of the series' greatest moments hosted by Jennifer Saunders & June Whitfield ("Ab Fab Moments"). The "Modern Mother & Daughter" skit from French & Saunders is also included (the skit that spawned Ab Fab), as well as cool pages about the cast, guest stars, & my favorite- a guide to the real life locations featured in Ab Fab (London, New York, etc).

For all you technical fans, the DVD looks & sounds really great. The picture transfer is excellent- clear, pristine picture on a full screen. It's much better than watching it on television- honestly. The packaging's even great too.

And perhaps the best thing about watching Ab Fab on DVD? It's not edited for content. True, even though it appeared on cable, Comedy Central had to edit out a few choice words (the BBC, as well as all other European television stations, are a little more lenient than American stations), all of which naturally appear on the DVD. It's not a huge deal, & I'm a mature guy, but for you hardcore purists, this is the only way to go! It just makes it a little more enjoyable.

I hope this has convinced you if are on the fence about this purchase. Trust me, if you're even considering it then you will definitely love it. I actually wasn't even a huge fan when I bought it (I just love anything British), but watching it on DVD has made it much, much more enjoyable. Now I love Ab Fab! Don't forget to get the 4th series on a double-disc!

Summary: How To Eat Up An Entire Weekend
Review: First of all, you have to like "Ab Fab" to appreciate this collection. The main characters, Patsy and Edina, are loud, hysterical, and generally on something.

So, taking the position that you are familiar with "Ab Fab", have seen the episodes and want to play them over and over again at home, you are in luck. Three of the DVDs each have an entire season of episodes on them. The fourth disc is pure gravy. It has material from Saunders and French comedies and background to the series itself.

So, pour yourself some Stolly and Bolly, fix yourself up some CRISPS (sweetie darling!) and some little nibbly things and invite some like-minded galpals over for a good laugh.

Summary: Just Some Gorgeous Things
Review: Absolutely Fabulous, perhaps the greatest show on television, comes to DVD! The great extras (you have to see some of the out takes) only serve to suppliment the already hilariously fantastic episodes. You get to see all the unforgetable scenes from all the three seasons on only four DVD's. Eddie and Patsy will always have their place in pop culture and media history. Jennifer Saunders is a genius!

Summary: Jennifer Saunders sizzles as Ab-Fab's creative genius
Review: Absolutely Fabulous is comedy's exclamation point! Jennifer Saunders, as a comic screenwriter, is so head and shoulders above everybody else that (as the song goes) "it makes me feel sad for the rest". Also, do not overlook her comedic timing, subtle facial hilarities, and acting on a par with Lucy. Yes, I said Lucy! Thank the Gods that she bestows her comedic brilliance for all to see, because once you DO see Ab-Fab, you WILL develop an obsession, an almost addict-like need for MORE! MORE! MORE!
This is THE finest, A #1, all time greatest comedy you will ever see! I envy you really, YOU get to see them for the first time --- Be careful when you watch "Poor", It ROCKS from start to finish and doesn't let up. Ab-Fab's finest moment and definitely NOT recommended for amatuers!

Summary: Fabulous!
Review: I've been watching these ladies for years, and I'm very happy to have the collection all beautifully packaged and in chronological order. I love the contrast of the characters, mother (Edina) is completely out of control while the daughter (Saffron) has it all together. At the moment my favorite episode is the "France" episode. I love the scene where the frenchman comes to the door of the cottage they're staying in and tries to talk to Patsy. Patsy, not being able to understand what he's saying ends up throwing money at him and slamming the door.

Summary: AB FAB for Life!
Review: Wonderful collection! A must have for true Ab Fab fans!

Summary: Absolutely the best Britcom . . .
Review: I saw my first episode of Ab Fab about 8 years ago and was instantly hooked! You will never find two more self-absorbed females on the planet. The dialogue is first-rate, the characters are marvelously written. You think your family is dysfunctional? Wait 'til you meet Eddie, Patsy, Saffy, and "gran" (not to mention the two ex-husbands, one with an "odious boyfriend")! This set brings it all together -- all 18 episodes plus extras. An Ab Fab marathon -- what a concept!

Summary: Great Britcom Selection!
Review: This boxed set is GREAT! It has the first three series of the show on three DVDs. That's eighteen episodes! The most recent is not... but that's understandable, considering the fact that the fourth series just finished airing in the UK.

The fourth DVD of the set features a load of great bonuses. There's a special called "How To Be Absolutely Fabulous" that features a bunch of outtakes and bloopers. Then there's the original French & Saunders sketch that inspired the show... and Ab Fab Moments, too. A lot of fun stuff!

The only thing that kept me from giving this a perfect score is the fact that "The Last Shout" was omitted from the set. It should've been included. Other than that, this boxed set is a great selection for Britcom fans everywhere!
