Rating: Summary: Surprisingly funny comedy! Review: OK, so I saw the trailer for this, and I saw the front of the box, and I thought: "Stupid comedy." I decided to watch it and give it a chance, because hey I'm a fair man. I saw a dumb movie right?Actually...I was totally surprised. This movie is actually pretty clever. OK, it's not a GREAT movie, but considering what I was expecting it's certainly a worthy rental. The film really isn't the same joke over and over again, in fact it's really about the whacky adventures of our hero "B-Rad" in the actual ghettos of Los Angelas. I thought the film was going to get formulaic and dumb when the romance (and a REAL kidnapping) comes into play, but the movie doesn't forget it's just a silly comedy and the fun continues. The performances by Taye Diggs and Anthony Anderson (two talented but underrated actors) are right on par. Like I said, this isn't a great movie, but if you wanna laugh, give this a shot. Trust me, it's NOT as bad as it looks.
Rating: Summary: DON'T BE HATIN! Review: A WANNABE WHITE RAPPER [JAMIE KENNEDY] GETS KIDNAPPED BY A COUPLE OF THUGS. UNBEKNOWNST TO HIM, THESE ''THUGS'' ARE REALLY ACTORS AND THE WHOLE KIDNAPPING IS JUST A SCHEME THAT WAS PLANNED BY HIS FATHER. VERY FUNNY AND VERY CLEVER. THE CLUB SCENE IN WHICH JAMIE KENNEDY TRYS TO BATTLE A RAPPER IS DOWNRIGHT HILLARIOUS. IF YOU WANNA SEE A COMEDY THAT'S REALLY FUNNY, THEN CHECK THIS OUT. LIKE HE SAID, DON'T BE HATIN!
Rating: Summary: Pure Over-the-Top Humor. Review: This film was much funnier than I anticipated. I had originally thought that like most movies, the funniest clips would be in the previews. I managed to find a few more located throughout this film. Jamie Kennedy does a great job playing a black hip-hop "wannabe" rapper trapped in a white spoiled rich kid's body. And with B-Rad's (Kennedy) father running for political office, he makes things complicated enough to force his father's campaign team to pay a couple of actors (Diggs & Anderson) with the help of Shondra (Regina Hall) to impersonate thugs to try to convince B-Rad to act the way his father would prefer him to. The overall mayhem that ensues as B-Rad travels through "the hood" is a laughable affair for most audiences.
Rating: Summary: 2.5 Stars: I like Jamie Kennedy...but... Review: ...this movie wasn't that great. Sure, there were some funny moments, but for the most part, it just kind of fell flat. For those of you who don't currently attend high school or college, let me explain for you what a "wigger" is. A wigger is basically a white guy who acts black, which is Kennedy's character. And most of the time, just like Kennedy's character, they're spoiled and rich. Trust me: they are UNBELIEVABLY annoying. So when I heard about the whole movie, I knew I had to go see it. I figured, lots of wigger jokes, and I get to see how one would REALLY react when placed in the REAL "hood": cry and beg for mercy. And yes, I did get that for about 15-20 minutes. But then it started to gradually evolve to "hey, wiggers can be tough thugs too!" WHAT!?! As for the movie itself, it certainly wasn't horrible, it just wasn't that great. Sure, a few chuckles here and there, but nothing in the way of comic genius. All in all, Jamie Kennedy is a funny guy, I watch his show and he's a great prankster. But if this movie is any indication on his acting skills, he should just stick to pranking people. Or work on his movie skills. Whichever suits him best. Time to click "Not Helpful"!
Rating: Summary: Not His Forte. Review: I can't get enough of JKX. Kennedy's ability to assume a character is not only astounding, but hilarious. And for me, it's his moving from character to character that really sets him apart. This movie however, locks him into one character for 90 minutes or so, and doesn't let Jamie do what Jamie does best. In fact, for as much as I love him in JKX, his role as B-Rad gets stale quick, and the majority of the fun comes from the supporting cast. It's a reasonably funny flick, but not a keeper, i.e. rent, don't buy.
Rating: Summary: kennedy's white rapper gets numb after a while Review: my friend Joel dragged me along to this movie and I sat in the theater for god nows how long and watching this movie that started great and like most movies out there ends horribly and throughout is lame and obnoxious, though Taye Diggs and Anthony Anderson have some laughs along the way as the hired gangsters
Rating: Summary: Jamie Kennedy and Anthony Anderson together? What a treat!! Review: This movie was very funny! Anthony Anderson has always been very funny, and Jamie Kennedy has just made another fan!! There are some parts that are "dumb", but they are funny dumb... not just like, "why did they waste their time making this?" Dumb. I definately recommend this movie with 5 stars. :)
Rating: Summary: Shame there was none Review: This movie was dumb, dumb and dumb. Normally I love parodies, especially in the Mel Brooks and Scary Movie vein but this was horrid. The jokes were cliched and Jamie Kennedy can not act nor be funny to save his life. This movie is as tired as one of B-Rad's rhymes. Save your self the trouble and rent or buy something else
Rating: Summary: Malibu's Most Wanted DVD Funny Movie Review: This is so much better than Bringing down the house. It had a funny cast but my fave were Taye Diggs and Anthony Anderson. They were hilarious as wanna-be gangstas. Not to leave out Jaime Kennedy as B-Rad and Regina Hall who did a great job keeping the storyline interesting.
