Summary: Teen Movie or Not
Review: When I first saw this movie, I couldn't stop laughing. It does have a love story, but what movie these days doesn't?! It's a good movie. If you like baseball, you will really enjoy it. This is no Teen Movie, this is a movie for the College folks, like myself.

Summary: Too Much Sex
Review: Romantic comedy about a Cape Cod baseball player who falls for the daughter of a wealthy family who summers there. As they grow closer, their parents grow more irritated.

Summary: Waste? Yes! Want? Not!
Review: Sorry, but what a lost opportunity by this director, who spent almost $20 Million, and we didn't get to see a real baseball movie. I think the director was a minor league quality ballplayer and even produced a great documentary a few years ago about Hank Aaron (I think it was Aaron). Summer Catch got way lost in the teen-movie-thing. Jeez, for $20 Million, he could have fictionalized a Jackie Robinson type-story on how the Negro Leagues' destiny was to take over our hearts. Could you imagine the baseball scenes. It was "Magic Johnson Show-Time" way ahead of its time. Now, that's something we've never seen dramatized. Spike Lee still hasn't made the real Jackie Robinson story for the screen yet. For a baseball lover to do this Summer Catch thing is a Waste. Did we really want to see good baseball scenes get messed up with a star running around in a thong? NO!

Summary: Forgettable fun
Review: This movie lacks originality and depth. However, a likable cast and the many funny scenes make it enjoyable. You might not remember any of the movie after you watch it, but it still provides a good escape.

Summary: Fairly Solid Movie: Decent for a Matinee
Review: Overall, this is a pretty decent movie. It's your average 'coming off age' story. It follows the adventures of a college baseball player, Ryan Dunne (Freddie Prinze Jr.), playing in a summer league looking for his big break into the pro ranks. Added to the mix is his love affair with the daughter of one his father's rich clients, Tenley Parish (7th Heaven's Jessica Biel). The plot sees tons of conflicts: he fights the stigma of coming from a 'loser' family, she fights against the wishes and traditions of her family, together against all odds they try to make their love work, etc.

In between there's TONS of parties, alcohol, women, etc. In all, it's a fairly solid movie with a good story (young people trying to find themselves), tons of laughs (an underwear stealing party girl, the 'saga' of the team mascot, etc), a solid supporting cast with their own side-stories and good old baseball action. Baseball fans will likely enjoy this story.

Overall, the movie is 'OKAY.' Better love story movies have been done in recent years ("Never Been Kissed," "Ten Things I Hate About You") but this movie's 'alright.' The real downside to the movie was the LAME and abrupt ending. Otherwise, this is decent for a matinee.

Mildly Recommended

Summary: Nothing extrodinary.
Review: The movie was alright, the same old story line bundled with a couple of "Pie" style jokes. The story is, a rich girl and a poor ball player fell in love, their parents rejected, but as always, the ending made everybody happy, and Freddie Prince had his minor-league dream came true.

Summary: Somebody refund my money.
Review: All me and my friends went to see this thinking it was gonna be a great movie before school started. Let's just say I'm looking forward to school now. I hate this movie a lot. It deserves no stars!

Summary: What?
Review: Freddie Prinze Jr. is the worst actor! She's all That was ok though. DUMB MOVIE OF SUMMER 2001: Summer Catch, Jeepers Creepers, Scary Movie 2, Jurassic Park III, What's the Worst that Could Happen, American Outlaws, and Pootie Tang.
First off: The script ripped!
Secondly: The acting was a bigger tird than what my gramps pops out!
Thirdly: It is a copy of American Pie and Bull Durham put together.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Heart Felt!
Review: This is definetly a Teen movie! Full of new actors making their big screen debut! The movie is a mix of humor, love and a young mans quest to find himself. The movie is easy to fallow with many surprises along the way! Check it out with your family or a friend!
