Summary: A Cute Movie
Review: I probably wouldn't have liked this movie very much if it weren't for Melody (Tara). She is the most carefree person you can imagine. Her innosence and happiness are soooo cool!!! I mean, if Mel could could go back in time, she would be Snoopy. I just wish I could be like Melody!!

Summary: Neat little teen movie satire
Review: One word sums this movie up: 'irresistable'. With a variety of cute characters, bubblegum rock tracks and satire of commericialist pop music it is too cute to resist. It follows a rock group, Josie And The Pussycats, on their way up to the top. The only problem is that their music is being used to transport subliminal messages to the youth of America, dictating trends and fashions to them. This is certainly a great idea and amusingly, each scene is filled with promotion for other products. By far the best scene is at the start as hit boy band Du Jour (including Seth Green and Breckin Meyer) fight and bicker in an obvious satire of manufactured boy bands everywhere.

Yes, so it's a one joke movie but it goes a long way on this one joke. The actresses all look the part, especially the scatterbrained Tara Reid and record executive boss Parker Posey. Whilst there are some unfortunate sidetracks into moral territory, with frienship and togetherness both getting in there, this rarely impinges on the light-hearted nature of the movie. Like the music that the Pussycats play, this is bubblegum pop at its very best.

Summary: Josie and the Pussycats -- What were they thinking...
Review: Just what were they thinking when they made this movie? I rented this movie because a liked the 70's cartoon "Josie and the Pusycats."

After viewing this film I was left thinking... What were they thinking!?! The highest rating I dare give this film is 2 stars.

"Josie and the Pussycats" is one BIG ad for fast food chains, shopping malls, and music stores. Though the casting for the 'band", "Josie and the Pussycats" was well done. The movie itself had no real plot. The villians were cheesy.

This comic/cartoon should have never made it to the big screen.

If what this movie was looking for was laughs, I didn't find any. At times the satire was amusing but not funny.

If I were you, I'd pass on this one. You're not missing anything special.

Summary: Smart premise, bland execution
Review: Like so many Hollywood films, this has a great "high-concept" premise. It's also smart and sharp, which is rarer. The film opens on a hilarious note, satirizing the commercialization of rock music.

But like so many such Hollywood films, it doesn't much go beyond the premise. After the first 5-10 minutes, we "get it," and the rest of the film just recycles the same joke. Film opens big, hilarious ... then limps to a weak ending.

Alan Cumming and Parker Posey are superb in supporting roles as the villains. I wish the film was about them, instead of about the bland good guys. The villains were interesting and multi-dimensional, despite their smaller roles. Even when recycling jokes, Cumming and Posey's characters were a pleasure to watch.

Trivia: star Rachel Leigh Cook played the younger version of Posey's character in House Of Yes.

Summary: Very TRL Feel
Review: it made sense that Carson Daily was in this Film.it has that MTV/TRL Vibe the Fast Food Acts&Mentality.this Film was so Real because it reflects alot of the Acts out now on TRL.the type of Film that was Funny for all the wrong reasons.

Summary: Josie and the Pussycats is the movie of the century!
Review: If you want to have a good laugh at a movie, buy this movie!! It is the best movie of the century! This movie is full of funny, cute friendship. I'd call it a girl movie, but boys would like it too! Josie and her pals are great friends, and it has the best music ever! So i'll say those "3 small words" The Pussycats rock!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Better than "Spice World"
Review: All right, so, "better than 'Spice World" is pretty faint praise, but "Spice World" (ASIN 0767808673) was another movie in a similar vein that was far better than you might expect. The basic plot (evil music executives using subliminal messages to drive fads) is kind of lame, but it's lame in a "good" way.

The premise facilitates unrelenting product placement and self-referential send-ups of all aspects of modern pop culture. For example, in the opening scene, the boy band of the day, called appropriately enough, "Du Jour", begins to suspect something is amiss with their music, at which point they become victims of plan "American Pie", in which their Target-logo-bedecked jet is made to crash with them on it. Seth Green's cameo performance as a spoiled band member who's upset because one of the other singers stole his "look", was priceless.

The plot moves along quite predictably, but the music in this film is actually quite good stuff, and the humor is consistently effective and far more clever than it appears at first glance. It doesn't hold a candle to great comedies like "Bringing up Baby" (ASIN B00003CX9A) or "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" (ASIN B00005O3VC), but "Josie" does a great job of delivering exactly what you'd expect, plus maybe a tiny bit more.
