Rating: Summary: Subtle and well done Review: When I first heard about this movie, my main interest was to hear its satire of pop boy bands. I then learned of its incessant use of ad placements, which occur in over 75% of the scenes in the movie. I was a little apprehensive to watch this after learning that fact, but I am glad I decided to watch it. The movie has a very subtle attack on today's use of advertising, and it is a very well developed joke with a well placed punch line. The night of watching this film, I had to get the soundtrack. The music selection in this film is very nice, if you like female punk; though I never listened to punk much, I had to buy the soundtrack. The other songs on the soundtrack are two parodies of boy bands, performed by Du Jour, an aptly named band in the film. Both songs provide a humorous look at contemporary boy bands from two different points of view (one being slightly inappropriate for younger audiences), but they are subtle and only add to the film's approach to music and movies in today's society. While some of the humor is a little more risqué for younger audiences, I think overall it has appeal from early teenage years up through college students. I hope the DVD has some nice features, but this film alone makes it worth the purchase.

Rating: Summary: A very funny movie! Review: This movie is really hilarious and is very clever! I especially love the part where Melody is singing "if you're happy and you know it" in the shower, lolol. I used to read archie comics when I was little, that had the josie and the pussycats comics in it! I've always liked Melody the best, she's my fave. Buy this movie, and you won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: Guilty Fun Review: You might feel like you SHOULDN'T like this movie, but I couldn't help it. And the music is great! I went out and bought the soundtrack as well as Letters to Cleo's album GO! (Kay Hanley provided the vocals for Josie).
Rating: Summary: Love it! Review: This movie ROCKS! I couldn't get enough of it! I think that everyone should see this movie! It has excitement , comedy and adventure. Has a great message for everyone! You've got to see this movie!!!
Rating: Summary: Josie? Review: I thought the movie was wonderful and the songs are even better than the movie...however Rachel Leigh Cook and friends seem to have taken credit for the songs on TRL and elsewhere and they DID NOT SING THOSE SONGS. Those songs were sung by the best vocalist ever to exist-Kay Hanley...formerly of Letters To Cleo. Dont let them fool you, its not there voice! Anyways, the movie is hilarous and the rock scenes are the best. Theyre pretty convincing that they can play there instruments...i reccomend it as one of my favorites.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This movie is wonderful. Its filled with laughs that the whole family can enjoy. Teen Pop is exploded in this movie, while subliminal messages are for the adult viewer. My friend and I live off this movie. It has everything a good movie should have, Romance, Friendship, great storyline, and a great soundtrack. I would definately recomend this movie to views of all ages.
Rating: Summary: pretend to be nice Review: is it me, or is parker posey becoming increasingly less interesting with each new film? any-hoo, here comes josey and the pussycats--witty, sardonic and uncompromising--not. this movie has indeed 'bitten off far more than it can chew' trapped like a fly in amber by its twisted priorities and muddled insight. it begins as a mildly amusing satire on mass market commercialization, does a pointed parody of the backstreet boys/insync phenomenon, and then goes downhill like an unmanned skateboard in the pacific heights. its boggles the mind that the filmmakers expected their audience to take their 'anti-commercial' stance seriously, while they litter almost every shot with corporate logos and borrow heavily from rock n roll movie cliches. there's that, and the monkee-ization of the titular girl group, with a soundtrack dominated by homogenized versions of 'alt' pop tunes in the letters to cleo mode (kay hanley wrote and performed much of the soundtrack) and a fair amount of spice girl posturing. if they really wanted to make a statement about 'girl power' and anti-comercial integrity, they should've as least had the good sense to cast bikini kill as the band. at least kathleen hanna can act AND sing. my man ken byerly (version 2.0) was dead on right, there is something deeply cynical and even mean spirited about josie and the pussycats---almost nihilistic---but i don't share his conclusion that that's a good thing. the fact remains that the film's subtext is so inarticulate and diluted with pabulum that it gets completely washed away by the tsunami of post-modern, sell-out pop culture. it's useless to speculate on what the film might have been, but if one young woman out there in the commercial wasteland of america can see through the dross and confusion, and decides to use her conscience and intelligence instead of marching in the usual parades, they maybe the movie isn't a total loss.
Rating: Summary: Josie rocks Review: This movie is actually very good. When this movie came out i knew i wanted to see it!!!!! This movie is also really funny with a lot of music in it too. I would definately see this movie i know when it comes out i am going to buy it.
Rating: Summary: This could have actually been good Review: The biggest downfall of this movie isn't the cynicism or lack there of , its this movie is bogged down in a lot of bad humor and jokes. 3 charecters in particular is Mel played by Tara Reid then Alan Cumming's charecter as The Pussycats agent and Parker Poseys over the top charecter. All 3 are great performers but all of them seem to repeat the same unfunny 1 track jokes over and over again. There are likeable thing's about this movie such as the first 5 minutes with the Du Jour boy band performing which is one of the most hilarious scenes in any movie in quite a while.I also like the fact that Rachel Leigh Cook wasnt given much of a charecter to work with yet she made it work. All in all a mismatched affair that I think those under 14 or so will like quite more than I did
