Summary: ARGUABLY LIGHTWEIGHT, CHARMING NONETHELESS
Review: Sure, it is lightweight, but the charming Frank Whaley carries it with zest. Beneath the antics lies a nerd-driven harmless male fantasy with a few well-made comments on the class system that defines adolesence. Worth watching. Worth buying.

Summary: Career Opportunities
Review: The Town Liar (Frank Whaley) Gets A Job At The Local Bargin Store Working Nights And Accidently Gets Locked In Overnight With The Town Knockout (Jennifer Connelly) And Two Bumbling Burglars...An Enjoyable Movie To Watch On A Sunday Afternoon...

Summary: Hilarious - who knew Target could be so much fun??
Review: This is a great movie, simply put. The acting isn't award winning, nor is the direction, but this movie works...it's funny, and the chemistry between the two leads is perfect. I have this movie taped from showtime from years ago, and I still watch it all the time. Even the parts of the movie where the guy is alone in Target, he does enough to keep the story and humor going.

Summary: The amazon.com reviewer needs to get his facts straight!
Review: This is a great movie...I think I have a review here or the VHS version...anyhow, I wanted to point out, the movie is not really about Whaley's character lusting after Jennifer. It's more focused on the comedy of it all. Also..Dermot Mulroney does NOT play Connely's boyfriend, he plays the robber/murderer who breaks into Target to rob the place, and runs into Whaley and Connely! You can't write a bad review basically trashing the movie, if you clearly haven't even seen it!

Summary: A great corny movie from the early 90's
Review: This is not the best movie. Although there are a lot of "grade A" movies out there the vast majority of films are not. This movie is a great B-grade movie. This is a corny movie from the 80's. It's great for a laugh when those A-grade movie plots become to formula driven to entertain you. If you understand that it is okay for this not to be the best movie, then you understand the necessity for B-grade movies. This is among my favorite B-grade comedy movies. I give it four stars. I hope this review helps you decide to buy this movie.

Summary: Sole redeeming facet: the Goddess, Jennifer Connelly
Review: This is one of those movies that is vastly improved by muting the sound and turning the subtitles on. It consists of painfully bad dialog, implausible characters and a nonsensical plot. The sole purpose of watching this movie is to see a talented and very beautiful young actress named Jennifer Connelly.

Summary: It's Got Jennifer Connelly
Review: This movie is all right, I suppose. Jennifer Connelly is in it, long before her Academy Award for "A Beautiful Mind," when she started looking like Lara Flynn Boyle thrown under a steamroller. The story is fairly lightweight, a bit of thinly comic fluff about Jennifer Connelly and some other guy whose name doesn't matter getting stuck in a Target store after hours. Unfortunately, just as the story really gets going, with Jennifer Connelly roller-skating around in tight pants and a dangerously overstressed T-shirt, an unwelcome plot twist intrudes in the form of two burglars, who are neither absurd enough to be funny nor threatening enough to be dramatic. At any rate, Jennifer Connelly is in it.

One highlight of the movie is a scene where Jennifer Connelly, without roller skates but still in the T-shirt, goes for a ride on one of those drug store mechanical ponies. Sadly, even in the DVD version of this film, this important scene was cut far too short in favor of the less compelling themes of the script. Still -- Jennifer Connelly. In a T-shirt. Riding a mechanical pony in her T-shirt. Jennifer Connelly is doing this.

So, even though it's not exactly Schindler's List, I give this film 4 stars -- 2 each -- for Jennifer Connelly.

Did I mention Jennifer Connelly?

Jennifer Connelly. Thank you.

Summary: frank whaley yeah!
Review: This movie looks like it was filmed when the script was half written. As a result, the second half is a drag. But it's worth seeing for Frank Whaley, who's one of the the most natural, charming comic actors to appear in a long while.

Summary: it's really funny if you watch more than once
Review: this movie makes no sense and bryan gordon must have been on acid when he made it. however, it is downright hilarious. watch it more than once and you will love it. the best scene is when jim's dad comes to wake him up and says "jim get up. yo jim get up." jennifer connelly is also gorgeous too and she makes the movie even better. check it out.
